Brighton Rock / White Queen / Love of my Life / Death on Two Legs / Old Fashion a Lover Boy / Tie Your Mother Down / Take My Breath Away / 39 / Prophets Song / Seaside Rendezvous / Seven Seas of Rye... I can go on all night!
This song is depressing on a new level. It's about losing the will to do what you love. Written by a dying man trying to say goodbye to his fans. He wasn't even healthy enough to stand up anymore.
Sadly Freddie died just six weeks after this was released and was too ill to film any new video so this is just a compilation of previous videos edited together......love your eyes by the way
Im so proud to been able to talk to that genius guitarist, Dr. Brian May personally four times already! He is just incredible and the most underrated Rockstar ever. Really. Cant weait to see Queen play in 2021 (what hopefully will take place...)!
Some of my fav.: A kind of magic, No one but you (only the good die young), These are the days of our lives, Let me live, Let me in your heart again..... all by queen.I think you'll like these songs
Hi Georgia, yes - Bohemian Rhapsody has been played to death over the years - but - we all get tired of hearing the same songs from any artist now and again....Queen have so much more than this....Listen to "Who Want's To Live Forever"....It's heartbreaking especially now as we have lost Freddy Mercury who for me personally was one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Queens 1st album is pure rock. Their 2nd is stunning & their 3rd is filled with absolute classics....& that's just the start. Loving the fact you are willing to give this another chance. You will be glad you did. Once again take care & be safe Georgia. Another great post, thankyou. Byee X Jim
Apparently, "Who Wants to Live Forever" is one of THE most played songs at Funerals... I personally like Innuendo which to me is follow up to Bohemian Rhapsody and The Miracle, both songs have amazing lyrics that were true then even more now.
Dear Georgia, great reaction and you are looking awesome! I like the new hair colour:-) Yeah, this is one of my favourite Queen songs! Alrhough I'm also not a big Queen fan overall, they have some really great songs, like this one! And relating to Freddy Mercurys tragic death a few months later it gets a special meaning...he already knew at this time he is incureable sick of Aids, so this is almost a sort of a farewell to the world...
Dammit, I got tears again... Freddie was so close to death, weighed about five stone at the time, and Brian May doubted he could do it. Freddie took a heavy swig of vodka and said, "I'll fucking do it, darling!" His last recorded song, and a total stunner.
Kinda bothers me when people who have barely listened to Queen before reacts to this song because unless you know the background and the circumstances of this song you can't properly grasp it imo. You enjoy it more when you're emotionally invested. Freddie was really really ill when making this, he could barely stand up. This was towards the end of his life and the vocals are amazing. Imo I think this is the best he ever did vocally. His illness was also the reason they didn't do a proper video. Brian May, thd guitarist, wrote the song about Freddie's situation. If you want to react to more, try Somebody To Love live from Montreal.
I understand your point. I also love the legend of Freddie doing this in one take after 2 shots of vodka. I know he was on the verge of death when he sang this song, which makes it that much more impressive. Since Georgia was never much of a Queen fan to begin with, I suggested this only to give them another chance. The fact that she did enjoy it, songs like 'Somebody to Love' or 'Don't Stop Me Now' may soon be coming up. 🤞
Fun fact Freddy Mercury was in a lot of pain when he recorded this song there was one recording of this song he never sang it again after that it was recorded in one take shows the talent of Freddy Mercury
I never really cared much for Rhapsody either tbh. But this one is pretty nice, same with: We Will Rock You, Don't stop me now, We are the Champions, Hammer to Fall, and Another One Bites the Dust. They're not my favorite by any stretch of the imagination. But do have some songs I like, and "We Will Rock You" is my favorite of my youth. It was pretty great to also see it playing a pretty significant role in a popular movie back then too ^^(A medival movie about a peasant-squire boy turned knight through trickery, skill and merciful leniency. Somewhat heavily overshadowed by coming out in the same years as the Lord of the Rings movies).
I think it's great that you like the song in its own right. But I think you get even more out of it if you understand its context. When Freddie wrote it, he had been diagnosed with incurable AIDS. He knew that there was going to be a terrible deterioration in his health, that he was already experiencing, and this was going to lead to his tragic death. If you understand that, the song takes on an extra poignancy, and you can understand that it becomes a song of defiance in the face of unbelievably awful circumstances. The very title of the song demonstrates this, along with lyrics such as 'I'm never giving in' etc. Please listen to it again in this context, and I think you'll come to value it even more.
I was a Queen fan from the release of Queen 1 in 73. they were rockers those first few LPs then got more and more commercial and all good it got them radi play. but if you want to hear great rock anything from first few lps. I'll give you one to kick start LIAR from Queen 1 a masterpeice enjoy btw if you want Scorpions try Burn The Sky Thinl Lizzy the Rocker or Little girl in Bloom but make sure its the full version not shortened solos UFO - Martian Landscape
*Fan made* video. They just took clips from videos of other Queen songs, and stitched them together. (I'll admit, that the timing of *some* of the edits aren't too too bad) I'd suggest *"Sleeping On The Sidewalk"* , from their *News Of The World* Album ... It's not a sound You would expect from Queen. (sounds like a different genre...kinda like *"Hot Dog"* by Led Zeppelin, *"Boris The Spider"* by The Who, *"Women And Children First"* by VanHalen or *"Benny The Bouncer"* by Emerson,Lake & Palmer)
According to Brian May, Freddie was very ill by this time and had to be helped into the studio. He downed a shot of vodka and killed this vocal in one take.
Freddie was very sick, but when he heard it (Brian May wrote it), he wanted to do it. Another elaborate theater type Queen video in the Freddie Mercury style. And as usual, they nail it. Freddie just can't give a bad performance. That said, I prefer Angelina's version of this song: th-cam.com/video/6NJv02ot5jg/w-d-xo.html She's singing with a back track, so it's a bit karaoke, but the mic she uses is outstanding, and it may be her best overall performance: tone, range, pitch, breathe control, and feelings. It's simply flawless. I'd love your reaction to it.
Yay! There's hope now! Can you in some way pinpoint what irks you about the other songs? I doesn't seem to be the era of the song, since you also didn't like Innuendo from the same album as this one, which was the last album released before Freddie's death in 1991. Ogre battle and Bohemian Rhapsody are much older (from albums of 1974 and 1975 respectively). Maybe trying something in the middle might be next? I'll go with lesser known songs: "Keep Passing The Open Windows" is from 1984, for example. "Get Down Make Love" is from 1977.
Hello Insane Blondie , very good reaction to this song , i have two more songs for you , i believe you will like them. 1. Led Zeppellin - Rock&Roll , 2. Queen - Ogre Battle live version
You need to go back and listen to old songs like Your My Best Friend, Fat Bottom Girls, and Defiantly watch the 1980 movie Flash Gordon for some laughs and a Great Queen Soundtrack . Love watching your reactions to the wonderful music I grew up with,,, never got your generations music, GOD knows I have tried, as a musician, sometimes I have to get out of my Old School Ways, and try newer types of music, but is hard to transition in my soul full of Great Masterpieces of Classic Rock to what the poor society is given now. I hope some day soon you give some Deep Purple reaction,,, maybe the song Lazy would be a great start
The BEST piece of advice for a Queen Newbie: 95% of the time Queen LIVE is BETTER than their studio recordings. (Aside from making a point to see a handful of their well-known fun-artsy music videos.... and then, any/all of their post-1986 music, since they stopped performing live due to Freddie's health, then). But everyone AGREES: Queen Live is UNBEATABLE.
Look beyond the greatest hits. They have an extraordinary amount of amazing songs.

Oh shoot, how could I forget this! Queen also wrote the most epic love song ever: Who wants to live forever. I'm pretty sure you gonna love that one.
First heard that 'Who Wants to Live Forever' in movie Highlander. Knew it was Queen without ever looking up the credits. Song fit the movie perfectly.

Very guitar driven
The best singer and front man of all time :)

Brian May wrote the song. He was concerned Freddie wouldn't be able to sing the chorus in his condition at the time, but was so determined to do so.
Next level...Georgia reviews art videos. Bring this edgy to the art game. Gold!
