Honestly just use an unofficial emulator. The one I use is GPEMU. It’s not worth it on the switch besides the convince of the switch.

@Work and Stuff Playstation runs dedicated servers and high-speed connections. That stuff costs money. Nintendo, on the other hand, runs pretty much their entire online service on _our_ machines, so the cost of maintaining Nintendo Online is pretty damn close to zero. They outsource the entire cost to us and then have the gall to demand we pay for the privilege.

In those cases, you aren't paying for the right to use your WiFi, you're paying for access to Microsoft's and Sony's extensive networks of servers and dedicated lines. Those networks cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to build and maintain, and if you tried to run, say, Call of Duty online without them, it'd be as laggy as Mario Maker. You might disagree that the service is worth as much as they charge, but don't be so entitled as to think you deserve that fairly expensive infrastructure for free.
But yeah, Nintendo is 100% charging for the right to use our own Internet connections and that really needs to stop. Either keep letting us run it and make it free, or grow up and actually build their own infrastructure.

11 frames is just under a fifth of a second, which, while it might be less noticeable at lower level, can seriously fuck you over in competitive play.

Now, to make something wet, we pour liquid on it, which requires the substance to not be in a liquid state - otherwise, this would result in the diluting of both liquids with each other. @@victino1684 I do see your point but I believe that for PC it’s a bit of a different scenario since your online experience depends on your hardware and your internet speed. At the end of the day you need to spend more money on one or both to improve your experience. That’s how I see it at least. I don’t have a full PC set up so if I’m wrong please let me know, because I probably sound pretty stupid to actual PC users

The reason its better on pc is that ''every game'' have their own server while i think nintendo got a shitty wireless 3ds as a server , outside of the building surrounded by stray cat , who is running all game host at once .
I'm disappointed that we don't have more themes. Like how hard could it be to make a Mario theme for its 35th anniversary?
@@Zeldinion its all about personalization. We technically don’t need to set wallpapers for our phones and computers but we do anyway because we want our devices to have our own personal flair. Not many may agree with this, but having the feature is still nice.

Paid online services are a blight on the video game industry. There's no reason why I should have to pay $20 per year for Mario Maker and Smash Bros. online when those were free on the Wii U, and there's no reason why I should have to effectively rent a collection of NES and SNES games when the Wii had virtual console with even more NES and SNES games, plus N64 and several non-Nintendo systems, 15 fucking years ago.

How many of you knew that when Nintendo added the NSO logo to the home screen, they also added a feature that was default to on letting GOOGLE see what you're doing on your switch through their online service to spy on consumers.
You also have to turn this off in both your switch settings and the settings inside the NSO app seperately if you don't want this. Ain't that something

The only good thing to come out of this is that Nintendo isn’t going to use their Windows 98 servers anymore and actually get better Wi-Fi... even if it’s just slightly.

As someone who grew up with my Dad's Windows 98, this got me to laugh. I remember having to use a cord to connect to the internet, the dialup sounds...it was kinda neat as a kid.
Then I realize that the quality I got for the 2 times I used Nintendo internet was almost *worse* than that.

Just because you personally wouldn't want the feature who how you put it "kids yelling at you" (which isn't a common scenario as you think it is btw), doesn't mean other people won't want it.

They actually weren't. I dislike switch online as much as the next person, but lets not spread misinformation.
Nintendo is in the process of replacing a multiplayer system they've used up till now that is about 18-19 years old, and thus, splatoon 2 has an unused check in its programming to see if said system was running on windows 98, but that does not mean that the nintendo servers themselves are running windows 95/98, it just indicates that the program is old enough that it would be able to run on 98.

@@akayysworldYou kidding? Its not GOOD, but its leagues better than the servers running on extremely outdated OS. Matter of fact, the servers have very little to do with switch online - they just do the matchmaking. The rest is P2P, meaning the quality of the online experience is purely based on netcode and the connection quality of the people taking part in the online experience. Therefore, the age of the system used for the matchmaking servers has little to no impact on the quality of the online services. Be (rightfully) angry at switch online all you want, but be angry for the right reasons.
I don't know much about other online games as I'm really more of a singleplayer kinda guy, but when it comes to smash, the netcode is actually okay (though far from amazing). The main problem that makes it to where a lot of online matches are laggy as fuck lies with the fact that the threshold for internet stability where the game doesn't let you play online is WAY too low. If they raised that, yes you might not be able to play smash online if you got shitty-ass comcast internet, or you might have to buy a LAN adapter to make sure your connection is more stable, but that would ensure that the quality of online matches would increase DRASTICALLY.

Payed online shouldn't even exist in the first place. Everything they said about needing to run servers was a lie. And in the rare case that they actually do run a server for a game they can make the money from the sales of the game. It's so cheap to host a server nowadays. All three consoles have no excuses.
I dissagree that microsoft and sony don't have a reason to charge for their service. With the amount of free games and other content you get from them and the fact their services work.

They only added online because they saw that Microsoft was getting away with it. I know for a fact that the online on the PS3 works just fine even though it was free. For the 20 dollar service, it's sometimes even more expensive than the game it self. Among us, for example. For a 20 dollar subscriptions, you can buy 4 Among us copies(on steam, on mobile it's free). Some games, require online to enjoy, mainly because the main thing is multiplayer.

You know what I'd really like as far as base system features go? The ability to create folders.
This was something we had on 3DS and Wii U, so why isn't it on Switch? Would certainly make navigating my library of games much more convenient. Heck, I know this because PS4 _does_ have folders while sporting a similar menu, and practically everything I've put on the console has gone into one of those or another!

I'm sure they know, but especially in times like these, people wanna be able to play games like smash or mario kart online, so a LOT of people are gonna pay for the service, no matter how shitty it is.
Oh, they definitely know. They are just fully and completely convinced that they know better than us. It's a central part of their corporate culture and has been for decades. I think it's best characterized in this quote by Reggie Fils-Aimé, regarding the massive backlash against Nintendo's disdain for indie developers and refusal to allow them onto the Wii U:
"And yeah, I've seen all the reports and all the reaction, but candidly, the reaction is by folks who don't understand the nature of the business."
They are so unshakeably certain in the rightness of their path that any dissent, no matter how loud or unanimous, must certainly be the ravings of fanatics and fools. So they disregard it.
@@FatedHandJonathon Can't say I'm surprised on the mindset when despite all this they're still mad successful, even more so over the past few years with the Switch itself.

It actually uses the same online service for a decade, But apparently it’s being updated for Monster hunter Rise, But I still don’t think I’ll get it until it gets better (aka never)
