He definitely was a versatile actor! I loved seeing him in these movies: The Hunt for Red October / The Rock / Entrapment / Rising Sun / Medicine Man / The Untouchables / The Russia House / First Knight.
No I am not nuts! I am just putting forward my opinion. I have seen all of Connery and Moore Bond Films and they both deserve to be credited for what they brought to the character. Dalton, Brosnan, and Craig that also came after Connery and Moore also reshaped the character and brought something to the role. I also featured in two of Daniel Craig's Bond Films and know that he was a very good Bond!
@@MRDOA66Sean made Bond, Moore was Bond No 3 and continued it, he didn’t make the character, if anything he made Bond lighter and flippant, which was not exactly an improvement, it made the movies more fluffy and less gritty
He was likely afraid of becoming type-cast as Bond and felt the role was limiting, which is quite understandable. The Bond character could be rather one-dimensional, particularly with regard to the direction Broccoli and Saltzman took the series in after "From Russia With Love", namely the "formula" Bond film, with plenty of action, gadgetry and naturally, the women. "Babes, blasts and blahs", as one critic would later remark so hilariously. The irony of course is, Connery achieved fame and fortune because of his having been cast as Bond. He will be missed.
Sean Connery played Bond almost every decade of his life 30s = Official Bond movies 40s = Diamonds are forever 50s = Never Say Never Again 60s = The Rock (British spy who get caught around the same time he played Bond) 70s = The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Period British spy whose superior is also M). The last live action movie of Sean Connery. Sean Connery is and will always be British secret super-spy James Bond. Daniel Craig is great as James Bond. In fact, Craig is the first James Bond I saw on movies and visited older James Bond movies. But I just like Sean Connery's Bond version more than others. Thank you, Sean.
When I was an usher in my teenage years, whenever James Bond came around, it was watching classics compared to beach blanket, bingo type movies after James Bond low I would catch all of his movies and then and I consider them all great. I would not discard being looked upon as James Bondand I feel that many actors would’ve been happy, but Sean Connery definitely proved himself to be more than one character.
Everyone wants fame, until they get it. Only then do they find out what a nightmare their life has become. Papparazzi everywhere, never a moment's peace, autograph hounds constantly, and of course the romantic nut jobs. Even worse for the men, the wanna be tough guys who want to show the world how tough they are by beating up a famous tough character from a movie. And the poor women have it worse, hounded by horny adolescent minded men. In short: Be careful what you wish for.
The producers killed the golden goose. They should have paid Sean more money then they did. If they gave him more of the multi million dollar profits that they made, he may have made a few more moves as Bond!
In the 60's when the Bond films hit it started a wave of Spy shows on American TV. There was Mission Impossible, I Spy, The Man from UNCLE and even Mel Brooks got into it with Get Smart. As a kid I even had a toy Spy Briefcase with a bunch of gadgets like in the movies. As far as the actors, for me Connery was #1 and the Best. Roger Moore was OK but something was missing. Then the other American actors stepped in but they didn't do anything for me. I saw Craig come in with Casino Royale and that film just tried to cash in on the TV Poker craze that was going on at the time. I haven't bothered to see any of the other films after that.
Casino Royale was probably closer to the book since OHMSS. They used poker as it was the card game of the time but it still was part of the plot of the book. Dalton and Craig were the closest to the Bond of the books. From Russia With Love is probably the best Connery film and one of the best of the whole franchise. TBH Connery wasn't that good an actor, every character was Scottish.
Hard to conjure up much sympathy for Sean Connery. Never did hear of James Arness griping about his lot in life being Matt Dillon for 20 years. What was his agent doing for him? Not much it seems.
14:55 was the pinnacle of self-irony in "Never Say Never Again": that apparently "Alien" acid that he throws in this guy's face is labelled as "urine sample James Bond". Somehow I liked this movie, making fun of his age and of "quotes" from his other movies.
Sean will always be considered the best because he was the first. But in fairness to the others that followed, they were big shoes to fill and they brought their own version of the character to life. And if you think about the character, every bloke wanted to be him but you wouldn’t want your kids to be like that. 🤣🤣🤣👍
In other words, Sean's wife thought he should have made even more money. I note she moved her and Sean to the Bahamas to escape paying English taxes. So many love their country when it's making them millions. And then hate it when it wants some taxes. And my comment applies to far more than Sean's wife doesn't it?
Christopher Walken Jack Nicholson Arnold Schwarzenegger John Wayne Many actors are just very identifiable personalities cast in a role that suits them.

Both Connery and Moore deserve credit and recognition for shaping the iconic character James Bond. ❤❤❤
Moore was horrible. Are you nuts? Daniel Craig reshaped the role the best.

Arguably Connery and Moore the two most charismatic UK actors of all time.
Cary Grant and Pierce Brosnan not far behind.
Saltzman should never had lied to Sean about getting a share of the movies- profit sharing.
Sean was and will always be James Bond.
Yeah, what a scumbag he was.
@@SarconthewolfWithout doubt, Harry Saltzman was the problem from the beginning.

Klaus Schwab would make a excellent Bond villain.

Everyone knew Sean was the baddest James Bond.
Do you mean acting wise .
@@phillipcarter8045 I think that was his problem with the James Bond movies. He wanted to be an actor, practice his art.

1st time I understood why Sean felt this way. I didn't know about the promise or that Sean didn't get any money from the toys.
Interesting: these movies often seemed tedious, predictable, and superficial to me, and now I learn I was not the only one!

the 0 0 7 bugged me. should be Double O 7
Double Zero Seven
I agree with him, taking advantage is despicable. Today, it's better for actors, probably should thank him.

After he made his money he could discard the character
£6000 for Dr no would have bought a house back then
Not a castle though he preferred castles
Sean loved Scotland but wouldn’t live there would he .
Would you, if you could live anywhere?
THEY DIDN'T GIVE HIM A .45
I can't remember for sure what pistol he carried before the PPK. I think it was a Baretta, but I wouldn't be my life on that.

The best Bond was Sir Sean Connery, and Timothy Dalton!
He was good with playing bond, if he did mind, why would he have played 7 different movies, he was OK, and made good money
That poor, poor man. How can I donate to his estate?
I always laugh at these. "I never wanted to be," but he still took the money, the fame, and the opportunities to do other films. 007 made him, Wanker.
Yes, all things considered I have a hard time feeling sorry for Connery, one of the world's most beloved and iconic actors...
Great job.
If you have not seen ' The Hill '...See it!!!
Once your BOND! YOU'RE JAMES BOND FOREVER!
In a nutshell problems mainly centered between Connery and the producers. In particularly, Connery and Saltzman.

Why doesn't the narrator say double 07 like we're all used to hearing?
Can this narrator say "double-O-seven"? Or just "zero-zero-seven"?
It's a machine.

SOME taxes? Governments steal from their citizens. UK had huge taxes.
Connery my favorite the Best Bond
As far as acting is concerned Connery was a one trick pony...he was always just himself...a performer not an actor.
Yes, but that's true for a lot of movie "stars."
You could not be more wrong. He was not just himself. He was an actor.
Christopher Walken
Jack Nicholson
Arnold Schwarzenegger
John Wayne

I think he is a bit of a cry baby. I also think George Lazenby was the better 007.

For the money and to stick two fingers up at the producers as it was not done by EON
