@@hunchog0d679 she is right. You are just too dumb to realize it. Heard this message as a 11 yr old when it was playing on MTV..the standard it gave me for how I should be treated as a woman in a relationship I think has made me have better relationships with men ..more than I think I would have had I not heard this song. I think I dodged a lot of unnecessary hardship and can stand up and know my worth when it really counts, and I’m really grateful for that. On top of that it’s a freaking badass song and video..the vibe is off the charts!!!
Damn.. this song still makes me feel like a strong black woman....too bad ima Rican dude. Ok no one is gonna see this comment but real talk for a second. In 1990 my mother died, I was just a small lad and to this day I don't know why but Ms Latifah came to my grandmother's home in irvington just outside Newark NJ to pay her respects. It was a small gesture that stuck with me. Taught me a few things that I carry today....so whenever I can do something small or seemingly insignificant for someone else...I take that opportunity....

people ain't the problem the industry is the problem. You can't buy what isn't produced labeled and sold. I mean you can now with some newer platforms but the stuff that gets big is only big because its what they Agreed to sell you. Its hard for stuff to go viral without Being bribed up at the radio stations. Nobody is looking through 10 million songs to find the real shit and if they are then someone is paying them. The music industry in the usa has always been a scam. It's why the majority of "artists" are young and attractive. Just look at Opera the best singers there are focused only on voice and not looks. I call everything that is listened to in the usa Sub-pop because it's either pop or a subdivision trying to be pop. Original Rap was about story telling to a beat. Its not all garbage like mumble rap and wannabe dealer/gangster rap of today

@@hunchog0d679 she is right. You are just too dumb to realize it. Black people are the original humans before any variations began and the black woman is the mother of all races and the progenitor of it all so it only makes sense that they are the apex. If you weren't dumb, simple logic would have told you that.
Incredibly important rap song for our sisters
MF Jimm you're correct
MF Jimm why?
Melanin Blessed why?
MF Jimm incredibly important for our brothers too
Heard this message as a 11 yr old when it was playing on MTV..the standard it gave me for how I should be treated as a woman in a relationship I think has made me have better relationships with men ..more than I think I would have had I not heard this song.
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💯
Whaaaat? You don’t know why she showed her respect? Did other people do that with your grandmother?
@@harmonyquinn2557 Yeah that was the right thing to do is show respect. Other people showed respect as well. But with it being a star that probably caused them to appreciate it more. That's what im thinking
wooooowwww....that says something to me

That means you have good taste in music. I was in fifth grade when this song was released as a single and in Fall 1993. Heard this song everywhere back then. Ah, good times.

Daniela Aguirre my fav line !🙌
I remember when I was young listening to this, I used to think she said "You ain't a bitch, you're a ho" and I was thinking to myself "How the hell in any way is being a ho any better than being a bitch?" Then I read the lyrics through the album cover to make sure I misheard and turns out she actually said "You're ain't a bitch OR a ho", which would make much more sense.
I thought the same thing.

I needed to hear this song today. It keeps me going at time like this.
Queen Lattiafh needs to write a childrens book ,!
You see? This is how true real rap is done. Preaching a story to the masses through quality wordplay and a catchy, funky beat. She's reciprocaitng a valid story with lessons that actually mean something! Personally, I wish I could hear more rap music like this.
You are the problem can you tell me the only female rapper with a no one solo single? You don't spend money your opinion is invalid.
@@bigballfiend4 chillll bruh omg. it’s never that deep…😭✋

people ain't the problem the industry is the problem. Its not all garbage like mumble rap and wannabe dealer/gangster rap of today
exactly telling tales from the hood ...where hip hop originated

Man, she can rap way better than a lot of rappers today. Like WOW. Back when rappers actually "rhymed" words in lyrics like poetry. Love the jazz hip hop mix. 👏🙏
The jazz hip-hop mix is called Conscious rap. If you like this then you will like De la soul, A tribe called quest
You know you can uplift someone without bringing down someone else and queen latifah herself wouldn’t like this comment if she saw it💯just saying🤷🏽♀️
@@miller6333 what are you talked about. Is your comment towards me? What did I say?
Back when black women demanded respect.
It’s all a matter of taste, some care less about actual content and more about the vibe
I never noticed how much this sounds like a female version of a Tupac song. I mean she literally flows and hits every issue just like Pac would
