This message is to all of the younger generation who wasnt born before or during eminem era. He was once called the elvis of hip-hop during the height of his career. Between 1999-2005 eminem ruled the air waves and grammy award shows. He was that one angry laid back white guy no one wanted to double cross due to being lyrically destroyed. This song (stan) was during the height of his career. White america finally got someone who looked like them in hip-hop again to take over. Before em it was vanilla ice who crashed and burned. Fans were so crazy at that time (before social media and technology takeover) that eminem put this song out to let fans realize how far not to go over another human being. The guy who plays stan was a very popular actor during the late 90s early 2000s named Devon Sawa. He played in final destination 1 and 2.
I’ve always wondered whether she is wondering why her tea has gone cold, or why she got out of bed, at all. She should have explained herself better, because there’s no way to know what she’s wondering about, and that ruins the whole song. It’s hard to make any sense out of it, either way, because, first off, it should be obvious why her tea has gone cold. If it’s iced tea, then the frozen cubes of water would certainly be a contributing factor, along with the fact that it was likely refrigerated. If, however, she drinks hot tea, like a crazy person, then the temperature of the tea would’ve decreased, clearly, due to the cooler temperature of the air in the room. If she didn’t drink her hot tea quickly enough, then that would be the one, and the only, logical explanation for why it’s gone cold. If, on the other hand, she’s wondering why she got out of bed, at all, then that makes even less sense, unfortunately. She evidently made the decision to get out of bed, all on her own, so she should know why she did it. Maybe, she needed to take a leak, and she didn’t want to pee in her bed. Maybe, it could’ve been that she needed to take a dump. I have no idea why she did it, but she should know why, because she is the one who made the decision. It’s possible that she has amnesia, I guess. That would explain why she’s wondering about something that she shouldn’t need to wonder about, but, if that were the case, then it’s strange to think that her tea going cold would be such a major concern to her. It seems like having cold tea would be the least of her problems, if she had amnesia, and I doubt that it would be so important to her, that she’d want to make a song about it. Regardless of what it is that she’s wondering about, it doesn’t make any sense, at all, because there’s no reason to wonder about either of those things. As dumb as it is, though, either way, she should’ve specified which dumb thing it is that she’s wondering about, still, at the very least, but, of course, she doesn’t even do that, and that just makes it even worse. If you’re wondering why the song is so bad, and no one likes it, that’s one of the main reasons, probably.

This is really sad and even finding out that it’s fictional doesn’t change that. Truly a masterpiece of music and storytelling that sticks with you for a long time.
Who says this is fictional? If you mean that the person who inspired this song wasn't named Stan and didn't do exactly what Stan did then; Yeah, sure. But this is most definitely a true story in the sense that Marshall is writing about a fan/fans who have hurt themselves or others because he himself didn't have the energy or time to write back or show his appreciation and that he feels guilty over it. I'm sure not just famous people can relate to this song but probably people who just got caught up in themselves, their own lives or whatever at some point in their lives and didn't see the writing on the wall regarding friends or family who ended up hurting themselves or others.

@Laeel Odinson lmao then just call yourself a fan rather than associating yourself with this. They literally mean the same thing except one has "stalker" added to it.
@Laeel Odinson the word Stan originated from this song coz the stalker guy in its name is Stanley (Stan for short). So if u call yourself a stan, that means you would basically do what he did
@@nesotheshitposter1475 the word actually came from the conjunction of "stalker" and "fan", or "stan", and they gave that name to the character. So when you call yourself a stan, you're calling yourself a stalker fan, and it's sad that a lot of people don't realize that, or do and consider it something to be proud of
@@metamon2704 you obviously didn’t read what I said. Like what Diego said, stan is a conjunction of “stalker” and “fan.” And if you’re stalking, you’re probably obsessed, your comment was pointless.

*@nvrmndryo* and *@ramgadevadoo1780* I saw both your comments next to each other, and I started scratching my head because my own memory was hearing Stan for the first time in 1999. When I looked it up, it turns out I was wrong and it was released in 2000. Do the two of you live in places where it wasn't released until 2004/2005? Here is how I saw your comments in the comment section: *@nvrmndryo* 8 days ago I was 17 years old when I listened the song first time(around 2004-5). That day and today, I still get the goosebumps and I time travel to ‘04! *@ramgadevadoo1780* 1 day ago Literally mad that its already been 18 years since we were listening to this in 2005. I remember coming home from school and going straight to my room and listening to this song. Time flies man.
I played the heck outta the mmlp cd back in high school yet never realized how much of a masterpiece this was. I listen to this now is such appreciation of the way he delivers the story. The way Stan’s emotion changes and climaxes from beg to end. How Em effortlessly alters his voice/tone when getting into character. And just how poetic the entire song is.
I love how this song exists and there are still stans in the world that think being a Stan makes them quirky and unique even if the song is supposed to be about why you SHOULDN’T be a Stan.
The word “Stan” originated from this song, so no, the song was not about why you shouldn’t be a Stan. It describes a person named Stan being obsessed with Eminem
Panda_doodle_art Nah it was about why you shouldn’t be a stan in one of ems interviews he talked about that song was a message to his fans and not to act like that so technically it was why you shouldn’t be a stan
Dude he is like 6-7 years old... as much as him he’s a kid he’s likes what ‘stan’ has showed him of Eminem and he’s grown to love it too but no not as much. He might like him as a ‘biggest fan’ but that’s as a kid. Stan is his real biggest fan like he says... hit me back your biggest fan this is Stan.
Thats like saying all paintings should express anger. You type of people are tunnel visioned, regardless of your view on your opinion and how it may "cure" the hip-hop scene. It is directly the incorrect way to look at things, end of story.

The song😊😊😊
The story😭😭😭
This is really sad and even finding out that it’s fictional doesn’t change that. Truly a masterpiece of music and storytelling that sticks with you for a long time.
Oh i thought this based on true event

People who call themselves stans to celebrities need watch this.
@Laeel Odinson lmao then just call yourself a fan rather than associating yourself with this. They literally mean the same thing except one has "stalker" added to it.
@Laeel Odinson the word Stan originated from this song coz the stalker guy in its name is Stanley (Stan for short). So if u call yourself a stan, that means you would basically do what he did
@@LaserCoreX Stan means obsessed fan.
