[Intro]
The Queen is hyped up
The Queen is hyped up
The Queen is hyped up
The Queen is hyped up
Ay yo Manda
What's up La?
Yo, people have been trying to get fierce on me
I think it's time I tell them about themselves
Yo, just give it to them Safari Style
Well, well, well
It's the L A the T I the F A H, you'll see why
Q U double E N. Is the reason I must be myself
What else? Well fame hasn't got me
Souped up selling out, sloppy or poppy
There so much to live for, therefore
Here's more from a woman
All women keep the rumors to yourself
The over blown home grown not known
Fools who never shown proof let alone own
A lot of props or a hip hip pop chart
Notch on your clock is my spot
Now who got the Mott’s?
Why you little played out
Aa-choo!
I'm allergic to wack crews
The La, the ti, the fah
The queen is up
Throwing salt that you never seen before
How dare those who talk we can't have them
Some make me wanna go out with the bat and a magnum
But a wise, civilized and growing higher
Judgments from the Queen punishment is the fire
I'M here to make these fools out of liars
You must learn step and respect the sire, face the fire
Latifah had it up to here the frauds felling fear, fear
The sound is playing like a Q-tip digging your ear ear
Mama Zula stands for positivity, knowledge and grace
I never run my piece Damn! I'll take it to your face
Open why you hoping none stutter stop 'em
Maybe choke (choke)
Because it's very hard to breathe while La got you in a yolk
I'll cut your throat, I'll cut it short
No one ever getting near
Latifah's had it up to here
[Chprus]
Give it to 'em Queen, yeah, yeah, yeah
Give it to 'em Queen (I got it)
Give it to 'em Queen, yeah, yeah, yeah
Give it to 'em Queen (I got it)
Give it to 'em Queen, yeah, yeah, yeah
Give it to 'em Queen (I got it)
Give it to em Queen, yeah, yeah, yeah
The Queen L A T I F A H in command
Some of these commercial entertainers
Are commercially a pain to my mind and my behind
Try to dis Dana, bumping me off
Because the Queen has reached a certain plateau
All I do is boo and say "Is that so?"
Talk is cheap and if talk got any cheaper
They'd be selling Nike tongues instead of sneakers
Kay sa rah sa rah, blazay blah, etcetera
This is a scene from the Queen La, La
Lovely and lyrically loose, but lady like
Im too slick to slip up or get tricked by the shady type
Chomps y'all talk and still wonder how loose I got
When Im in town I give the boosters booster shots
Breaks breaks, face face, never never, waste waste
Your mind on a rhyme
That will get thrown in your fronting face
I'll cut your throat, I'll cut it short
No one ever getting near
Latifah's had it up to here
[Chorus]
Royal and loyal
Face the fire boy
You wouldn't get the time of the day
So make way, hey, silence I say
Lay low and have a cold one
Cause the whipping I'm dishing is an old one
I through some soul into my morning bowl then I rolled
I took your gold and stopped your singled
Cause it never ever sold
Matter of fact it never even got the time to sprout
So you could never give me body or come in my house
The flavor unit is doing it back again this year
How many flavors of the flavor can you love to hear
Feel the force of my holocaust I'm staring at ya
Put in a bid on who will fall I'm sure to match ya
Snatch ya stature
Your broken looks more like a fracture
Catch that rapper
Latifah will be back to crush ya
Go buy a heart
Cause from the start I told ya no one getting near
Latifah's had it up to here
[Chprus]
Give it to 'em Queen, who got it?
Give it to 'em Queen Latifah
Give it to 'em Queen, who got it?
Give it to 'em Queen, the flavor unit
Give it to 'em Queen, I got it
Give it to 'em Queen, Latifah
Give it to 'em Queen, DJ A D
Give it to 'em Queen, ease off
Give it to 'em Queen
[Outro]
L A, L A T I F A H in command
Give it to 'em Queen
L A T I F A H in command
Give it to 'em Queen
L A T I F A H in command
Give it to 'em Queen
L A T I F A H in command
L A T I F A H in command

No cursing, entertaining without degradation. Long live the Queen.
I used to tape this video on the VCR back then on video music box.
Filmed outside of the high school where her mom was an art teacher in Irvington, N J. I know this because that's my old high school, Mrs. Owens was my homeroom teacher and they were my neighbors in Newark, NJ! I'm so, so proud of you, Dana! Keep giving it to 'em, Queen!!
Irvington High
Wow nice!
I remember this ill rhyme from 1993 when I used to live in Jamaica Queens, now I'm listening to it like if it was yesterday. One love my African Queen from Bogota,Colombia. We love you.
@@gustavoenriquetorres8492 wow Columbia loving Queen Latifah! 😀🇨🇴
YOOOOGURT
Latifah killed this. One of my fave rap songs.
💯❌💯
She always that Smooth Jazz on her tracks...you can just bob your head to it. Smooth Funk, Jazz, Groove and Soft Hip Hop/Rap
@@Reverend-Race-Horsey Very true
Latifah, Lyte, Salt-n-Pepa were and still are the baddest MCs but Latifah KILLED this song! Glad I was around when rap was good. Different generation nowadays.
Bro. I was born in 1990 & today I just found all these cd’s of Latifah in my mama storage . Latifah is a FUCKING PROBLEM ! I didn’t know she was THIS GOOD… SHEESH 🔥🔥😳😳😳
Listen Latifah was that rapper back in the day and better than most now❤
❤
Treach wrote this for her she still is a g.o.a.t female
@@gdupkwin9676where's the proof?
And she does not throw her clevage into the mix. Just raw emotion.
No gimmick, not showing skin, just true lyrics..THE QUEEN
💯
WORD!!
I was just thinking that..still attractive fully dressed..
Talent, pride and self respect. A good role model.
These are real female mc’s
Dont put her in a category of top female rappers put her in the category of top rappers Period.
word!
Hello! Yes!
That's Exactly Right.
Full stop.
Absolutely
Hard to believe this was 1991. It was so ahead of its time.
Yup & I was there to experience it live in concert at MSG in NY 1991 😎👍🏾
I was just born that year lol
@@officiallistengreatmuzik Man u missed it, Queen Latifah was rockin it!!! 🎤👊🏾
@@officiallistengreatmuzik I was born in 1993. We definitely missed out.

One of my favorite songs from her. This song I hold dear to my heart. I am from the Bronx, New York. I was in high school and she just was so powerful to me. Positive, Strong, and Beautiful!!!!!!😇🙏❤️👍🤗
This generation doesn't even know.
😏😎No they don't.
...CLUELESS
Maggie Jimenez exactly
Rap music it's out 3rd bass in 1991 😃
Maggie Jimenez
They have no idea!!!!
Love the scratching at the end. A major ingredient that's missing in today's hip hop 😔.
Why tahj mowry?
REAL TALK FAM SALUTE!!![999]
Real tlk!!
You are sooo right they got DJ s, that make hundreds of thousands of dollars with no scratches and the ability to catch beats they use pre proggamed sets and our music is not played and we ourselves forget our bad ass iconic talented musicians and artist funk , soul, and r& b and blues are not renewed by us
Yes!
This song is still fire 🔥. Who’s listening in 2023
2024
2024!!!
2024!!!
I love this music what a time to be alive ❤❤
She truly is the Queen! She made a commitment to never cuss in her rap songs, and stuck to it. She had serious bars, and there is no female rapper today that can even hold a candle to her! this was my all time favorite song by her! She was the best!
I agree! True talent!
Absolutely!!!!
But she did cuss in some of her songs though so im confused
@@allen123636I think at the beginning she wasn’t but later she cussed but it def wasn’t as much as what we here now. She’s always had the ability to come hard and body a song without it though. She’s mos def a beast and the Queen
Sound like trench
Always luv the piano loop on this beat...it made it stand out
And that bassline. Seen her perform this with a live band back in 1991 in Jackson, MS
Naughty By Nature used that too.
@Kwaku 11. One of the most beautiful instrumentals in history.
Treach produced this. He even co-wrote. You can hear Treach in some of the things Latifah says.
She has come such a _long_ way. And she _STILL_ looks the same, going on 50!!!
No matter her age she will always look good She the Queen in my book.
Black DON'T crack 💯 not just a phrase 💯
She's gonna be 50 this coming March 18, 2020
And still as beautiful as ever!
Still fine as H 🔥
Without hyperbole...Queen Latifah was the gold standard for top tier feminine rap.
Queen Latifah still looks beautiful to this day she definitely deserved that BET Lifetime Award
You had to come with bars back then. Was no other choice.
I been telling people this. If you were wack, your own crew would clown you until you quit rapping. It wasn't allowed.
Nowadays even the least less talented rappers and singers male and female are getting signed all over. Really sad 😢 and pathetic😒
Yup that's right
And biting was NOT tolerated. None of this Cardi B rubbish. If you bit someone else's style, you were astricized and blacklisted as a rapper. And please, don't even get me started on Drake.
Sometimes it doesn't have to rhyme though. It depends on the type of rap
That's what u call Spitting Bars! True Hip Hop ,no curse words or booty shaking! The True Queen
The

Zulu Queen Lisa Lee
that part
I’ll never forget in 1991 my father drove me to nobody beats the wiz to buy me this cassette. I waited all week so I can play this repeatedly! Good times!
Ppl sleep on how dope she really was tho 🔥🔥
This gives me the chills. Beat and verses so hard. She transcended the gender and sexuality stereotypes with ability and is legendary for that.
I played this for my 6 year old daughter. Now, she wants to hear it every day before school❤😊
She’s one of the artists where her name is literally the most fitting. A lot of musicians hype themselves up with fancy titles, but she truly is “The Queen”. I met her once outside of McDonald’s on 51st & Broadway, in NYC. Must’ve been around ‘99 or 2000 & she was walking around with about 4 or 5 friends. First thing outta my mouth was “oh shit, Queen Latifah”? She laughed & said in her smooth voice “hey baby, how you doing? Hope you’re having a good night”. She was cool as hell, even being a star at that point. She said hi to anyone that recognized her, shook hands, took pics, all while just trying to enjoy a walk in the city.
I LOVE Queen Latifah. A powerful talent and a STRONG Black woman. They don't make rappers like they used to. Been a fan of the Queen since I was a kid back in the 90s.
🙌
Queen Latifah was very gracious. A large portion of this video was shot in front of Irvington High School and she allowed the students to comprise the audience and signed autographs.
30 years gone by and these lyrics STILL smokin 🔥
I come back to this often I'm in the same age group of Queen Latifah, LL Cool J so I 'very grown up in Hip Hop with them because I've supported Hip Hop in "79" in my catholic school shirt gear 😢😂 with a classmate waiting on the bus and this car stopped near us blaring The Sugar Hill Gang "Rapper's Delight" we both fell in ❤ with Hip Hop then and will 4ever be a fan of the genre Happy 50th Birthday Hip Hop keep rockin 🎶
THIS WAS MY SHIT!!!!!! Miss La on the mic!!! But to see this and where she is now is amazing. GIVE IT TO EM QUEEN!!!
Yep, she killing it on Star as Carlotta Brown.
Yes mine too. In my EAR ... HEADPHONES ..
How did rap go from this to the mess called rap today. Thank God for 80s and 90s Hiphop. This still sounds clever, hard, intellectual, sharp and classy all bundled into one- Thank you Queen for this classic🙌🏾
Messed up rappers like Cardi b Nicky Minaj Fetty Wap Iggy Azalea rubbish. Queen Latifa is the legend. Old school hip hop forever
@I.N. Turrner Very truthfully said
See this song represents when WE were making our own music and putting forth positive lyrics. Then the Caucasians got involved and started telling us what our music should sound like, and what will sell. So some artists took the money and perpetuated "bitches and thugs". But the royalty, (MC Lyte, Latifah, Heavy D, Public Enemy, KRS-One, etc) remained true.
I ask myself that everyday that is insane.

That's that Jersey! Queen, Treach and Vinny created this classic.
Yep Now That I Listen Clearly This Sounds Like His Flow!!!
I'm almost sure it was Apache
This new generation could never
One of my all time favorite Queen L's tracks ... Fierce flow without any profanity - HEY modern day 'wrappers', I dare you to try it (OH, no mumbling allowed)
Yes mumble rappers no mumbling aloud. Also Cardi b Nicky Minaj Fetty Wap rubbish are utter garbage.
Queen Latifa forever.
Old school hip hop forever
Bingo!!
Not just no mumble, but no trap beat
Oh yeah! Beside her lyrics the music is hittin
And also NO auto-tune
Treach was a beast writing this. Queen killed it but this is whole flavor is Treach.
She's " got it" and she's always had it. And she's still beautiful!
And she rocks everything she does. Queen would've been great at anything she did. I'm glad she decided to be an entertainer.
Exactly why LATIFAH wears the crown 👑 ❤
I save this video just to show my daughter what rap was like from a now and then point if view.!!!! Considering she and my niece all ready love the old school R&B I know they will love this. The beat alone make reminisce!!!
Chandra Bullard I know that’s right! We got to teach these young bloods about what real hip hop was
The QUEEN still goes hard in 2023🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Real music by a real rapper. This go hard.
This is the real QUEEN, LOVE LATIFAH!!!❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥👸
One of the greatest tracks ever
I grew up with Latifah’s music but didn’t really appreciate her art until later in life. Now I have mad respect. Give it to em Queen
I forgot about this jam.......that bassline is slamin!!!
Im confused as to why this doesnt have more views. Are you kidding me? This is a legit hip hop classic- the beat the lyrics and our good sis Queen Latifah . Smdh
I really miss when rap chicks were lyrical and didn’t rely on their bodies
Ikr
Song is Fire and her word play is really crazy you just gotta listen to her flow...crazy
TREACH? Strong influence. it written all over her kitty.
She owns the mike and the stage. Such charisma! Love her.
Late 80s and 90s were heaven on Earth.

Rap city and yo MTV raps days I miss these days
This hit hard
This song always has a special place in my heart when it comes to rap. It was the first rap video I saw when my family first got cable TV back in 91'. Great times man.
Her and Mc Lyte are two of the best female MC's ever.
No they're not
I take it you don't know much about hip hop culture you better do your research it was other MC's

That’s in front of Irvington high school in Irvington New Jersey she recorded this video 👏👏👏💯 luv u Queen 💯
Omg she said talk is cheap and if talk could be any cheaper they would be selling Nike tongues instead of a sneakers omg all hail to the queen 🔥 🔥 🔥
The bass player on this was SERIOUS!

This has Naughty By Nature written all over it.
Yep I Can Definitely Hear Treach Rapping On This.
I hear Treach and Naughty influence on this!!
Yeah the production sounds similar to that sound on Naughty's first album with that electric piano...like Yoke The Joker and Ghetto Bastard. O.P.P too although that was mainly based around the "ABC" sample.
Kay Gee produced the beat, Treach wrote the rhymes.
Mind detect mind! I was thinking the same to myself mid video like... damn I hear Treach in her rappin' this!
Yeah Treach definitely penned that. That 1st verse was dead give away lol. Treach is one of the best lyricists in hip hop history with that word play but underrated
@@informed-info VERY underrated
Damn a classic
The amount of skill that was on display on this joint!
Instantly loved it! This is definitely one of my favorites by Queen Latifah. Happy 53rd Birthday to one of the greatest MC’s of all time, Queen Latifah! 03/18/2023 ❤❤🥳🎉🎊
Happy 50th birthday to the one and only Queen LA-LA! 🎂🎂
Back when women rap came with a real message #RealHipHop
One of the hardest songs let alone from a female rapper. I grew up on this song. Latifah used to run the female rap scene for years.
And Now She about to have Property for Her People out in Newark, Nj. Give it to'em Queen, Salute 💯
Back when women were heading in the right direction, didn't have to demean themselves by using their bodies to be awesome and selling out wasn't cool. Ahh....better days.
She's amazing!
🙌🏾🙌🏾👸🏾
Even as a younf Black male (as opposed to bein of the intended focused audience - femes - raised in a low income housing area,, back then we called it the projects 😅, I found the lyrics ( and STIL do to this day) to be empowering, positive, and prideful! 👍
MC Lyte and the Queen two of the baddest female rappers besides queen bee of all time
Dont forget Heather B
Derrill Elkerson
Lauryn Hill would wash both of them
Fact
@@d.wil2x Lauryn Hill would be Empress of the Universe by now but she couldn't hang with the fame & life pressure's. She crashed & burned, and even after she got out of prison & started touring again, she couldn't keep herself out of trouble & drama, and kept staining her brand. It's such a loss not just for her but everyone.
tubefan10
Idc what she’s done.. she’s never harmed me. My point was that she would rap circles around most of these new female artists & even some males lol 💯
CLASSIC!!! Still goes hard in 2019! Mad love for all y'all female MCs!!!
Jon Q miss all my girl MCs 😭 come back !!!
NotKarltonBanks brought me back here! Get it, Queen 👑. One of the best in the game. Take me back to ‘91 please!

How the hell did we go from stuff like this to W.A.P. is beyond me
She went off on this. She’s the greatest mainstream female lyracist
Still love this joint, the queen forever!
Her flow and this beat is everything...still in 2021.
Before The Equalizer, House Party 2, Set it off & talk show this is where it all started. HAIL TO THE QUEEN!!!❤❤
