As a disabled viewer I would just like to say even if your body is not fully functioning, or not functioning in the ways you want it to or think it should, it's still important to celebrate all your body does do for you. When your body isn't doing what it should it can make it hard to not feel at odds with your body but it's important to remember your body is still doing its best and to be patient and kind to ourselves. Your body is still good and worthy of your love or (if you can't manage love) respect even when it's not fully functioning!

and just know, we are NOT our bodies, we choose to come here and this body is going to take you where it should take you. you are exactly where you should be and all our bodies are perfect bodies even though they don’t always do what we wish they would

Following my intuition has really helped me with my relationship with food, and I think it can be really important to pay attention to which periods that we’re struggling with food and what we can learn from this periods❤️❤️

I've also had a difficult relationship with food and my body. I started puberty at a young age, so that affected me a lot since my body looked older than I actually was and this happened really quickly. I used to take dance classes and my teacher always made comments about my body. When my depression really hit me, I developed an eating disorder and my body dysmorphia continued. It wasn't until I became vegan that I developed a healthier relationship with food. I enjoy what I eat and avoid tracking my calories and obsessing too much about what I eat. I still have some body dysmorphia, but when I look in the mirror, I'm reminded that I'm not the large person I think myself to be in my mind.

Hey Hitomi! It's been interesting to see how tempe, a food originating from the island I'm from and currently live in (Java, Indonesia), has really made a home in your cooking and also in western vegan cooking in recent years. I wanted to share a little recipe the way my family cooks tempe! (and how many other families cook tempe) There's so many different ways to cook tempe on Java and they often differ based on region and ethnic group, but this one is a pretty simple everyday recipe.
Ingredients: tempe, garlic, grounded coriander, salt, warm water
    - grind or blender the garlic so that it becomes a paste-like consistency. We usually use a stone or wooden mortar & pestle (ulekan) but you can also squash the garlic with your knife and cut it finely.
    - mix the garlic with the warm water, grounded coriander, and salt until evenly mixed
    - (this is an optional step) cut an X on one or both sides of the sliced tempe so that the mixture can really soak in! If it's a thin slice I usually don't do this step, but if it's a thicker slice it helps get the flavor in the tempe
    - place the tempe in the mixture and let it sit for about 10min or so
    - then you can fry or bake it until it's golden brown :)
Love your videos as always and I hope you are finding even deeper forms of inner love and peace today 😊🌱

Although I am not fully vegan, this philosophy has helped me a lot improve my health! I suffer from chronic Lyme and I had strong medication over the years that really destroyed my body in many ways. Veganism helps me slowly reconstruct it! Thank you for sharing :) your videos are now a part of my self care routine!

thank you so much for your wisdom and energy filming for us and sharing all your goodness!! i was wondering if you ever thought of sharing your main pantry staples (veggies, fruits, grains, supps, etc.)? your foods always look so nutritious and like no one else’s (i’ve tried to search for blogs so i can follow recipes like yours but they don’t succeed) 😂 it would literally be life changing and an honor to learn that from you! i’ve followed your recipes and i just tend to struggle with sticking to eating vegan bc i can never seem to find the foundational batch of goodies to always have on hand so i end up breaking it one time or another :( thnx again 💕💕

Actually, you are not pronouncing açai wrong! Here in Brasil we pronounce it just like you :) dont be so hard on yourself, remember that theres no right or wrong when it comes to language, as long as the message is being understood! Also, thank you so much for this special talk about food as medicine 🥺 it just transformed my vision more and more

The hummus wrap looks amazing! I've been looking to add more fresh veggies into my diet, and this looks so tasty and easy to make. I'm definitely adding it into my repertoire.

wow i really needed to hear this! i just discovered your page, really like the way you spoke about the things that would entangle you up inside because i feel the same way when i want to confront someone but feel too afraid to bring it up, as im very sensitive and cry easily during adifficult conversation
