@@TMX1138 To be fair, it wasn't really hard to call their bluff. Sonic pretty much gave it away with how he was acting about Eggman's demands with his smirk and aloof attitude. Had he used a good poker face and acted with more urgency, I don't think Eggman would have been confident enough to trap Sonic and send him away to his supposed demise with the emerald still in his hand because had he been wrong, he would have sent Sonic away with a real Emerald, thus blowing it up and not being able to fully power up the Eclipse Cannon. Eggman wouldn't have been dumb enough to risk his master plan unless he knew had an ace in the hole. This is just a wild guess, but I think Eggman had a backup plan ready to go to deal with Sonic had he been given the right Emerald. I don't believe that he only planned for the fake emerald tactic because like I said, too much would have been at risk had he been wrong.
I gotta say, I didn't expect Eggman to actually pull off this one. First he made Sonic surrendered the fake chaos emerald by threatening to kill Amy then he tricked Tails into telling him that the emerald was fake. Finally, Dr. Eggman managed to almost kill Sonic by trapping him inside of his chamber and ejecting Sonic into outer space where the chamber exploded. If Sonic really did die back there, then this would have been the most darkest Sonic game ever.
In the course of three minutes, Eggman held a gun to Amy's head, almost killed Sonic, and blew up Tails with missiles (in the Dark Story anyway). Why can't the Modern Eggman be more like this?!

Tails isn't too heartbroken by the fact that his best friend BLEW UP IN FRONT OF HIM ALL BECAUSE HE REVEALED HIMSELF THAT IT WAS THE FAKE EMERALD BY ACCIDENT.
Tails felt that he had to do his part in Sonic's place as he requested, and he had Amy he needed to protect. This is the part where tails starts to mature.
I used to think Eggman figured out or knew that the Emerald was fake and lied about Tails revealing his friends' plan, in order to turn them against him. But I was wrong. Eggman REALLY didn't know, so he tricked Tails into telling him.

This scene never gets old. It's got it all from Eggman's smarts, to Sonic's cocky attitude, to Tails' naivete. It was also a great scene that could have been used to further Amy's character and make her realize that she puts others in danger by being so weak. Heroes dropped the ball, but thanks to Forces and IDW Comics, they're finally realizing that the childish chasing Sonic shit needs to go.

I love how Tails just springs into action to stop Eggman, even after Sonic presumably dies. It’s time for Tails to be the hero, and he knows that. He can’t rely on Sonic anymore. Some of the best character development for him right here, and the Tails we have nowadays is just an insult to it.
This is my favorite Tails moment. He fucks up and believes that he got his hero killed, but he mans up and keeps going cause there's shit to do. Even after beating Eggman, he doesnt cry or mourn, he just says "Sonic, I did it..." That's how you write character progression. Idk wtf that shit was in Forces.

Tails only had one major win against Eggman without Sonic with him (although to be fair to Tails, he only ever fought Eggman by Sonic’s side before SA 1, so it’s not like Tails was only getting stomped by Eggman or anything), and in that metric, Eggman did not know the true capabilities of a really ticked off Tails. For me, I’d guess the hero side is canon in the case of Eggman vs Tails, because Eggman is MUCH more weary of Tails’ potential in the Egglogs in Sonic Frontiers than he is shown to be in the Adventure games. Had to have come from somewhere.

Oh, and I love how the screen turns red when Tails looks mad right at the end of the cutscene. I guess it's supposed to give you a real sense of adrenalin for the upcoming battle. Kinda gives you that feeling that Tails is pissed, and is thinking "Alright, no more games! This time, I mean business!!"
And in the Dark Story, Eggman beats Tails and takes the last emerald from his unconscious body and puts it in the Eclipse Cannon. In the Hero Story, Tails....drops the emerald or something and while he's mourning for Sonic, Eggman grabs it and puts it in the Eclipse Cannon.
@@JCBro-yg8vd Yeah. The Fake Emerald was used to stop the cannon. However, since all 7 real emeralds were put into the core, it activated the colony crash program. Regardless of the story, the cannon isn't used because Sonic destroys it or the colony crash program prevents its use as all of the emeralds are probably causing the colony crash.
This is lowkey one of my favorite parts of the game. From Eggman pulling a pro gamer move on Sonic and Tails, from Sonic takinga risky gamble and enabling Chaos Control, and Tails gaining the courage to avenge his "fallen" friend. SA2 had peak writing.
Now THIS is the Eggman that I know, when he wasn't a joke, and he meant business and didn't take any bullshit. This scene showed that he pretty much beat Sonic. Even Sonic basically admits that he had no idea it could save his life. The newer sonic games make Eggman look like a wimp

I’m pretty sure Eggman picked up the wavelengths of the fake emerald earlier in the game. So, that’s how he knew it was fake. Tails just confirmed it for him.

Games, comics, and shows were all dumbed down. But i hear tell the Adventure series is coming back. Then there's the Sea3on Animated in the works, and the live action movie aint bad with a sequel on the way. IDW just feels like Walking Dead but with Sonic. Eh.
Imagine if Eggman was consistently this smart throughout the entire series. Pre-Colors entries wouldn’t even have needed a last minute change of the main villain because Eggman would constantly be outsmarting everyone. It would make the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise really standout if the main villain was consistently such a master planner who was always in complete control. This is probably the greatest scene in the history of the Sonic franchise because of how there is such natural development in Eggman pulling the rug out from under everyone. As we saw in the Dark story, Eggman knew there was a fake emerald but he didn’t know for sure if Sonic or Tails was the one who had it, so he set up a situation to bluff Tails into revealing who had the true emerald which was definitely a move befitting someone with such a high IQ. Just my thoughts anyway.
i mean, yeah, eggman did have him in a glass container, but that really doesn't do anything for him. for all eggman knows (until like 15 seconds later) the emerald Sonic has could be the real one, so he can't shoot him out until he has 100% proof that it is fake. So Sonic is just this calm because he isn't in immediate danger. Or, more likely, awful voice acting.
He was smart in SatAM. It took the combined effort of all the Freedom Fighters to stop him. And now they have to deal with Snively, who may even be worse than his uncle! Especially with Naugus on his side!!!
Forces wasn't planned out at all. It was all one big gimmick. Even Infinite was a cheap knock off of Shadow. They hyped it up as this big epic dark game and it was all BS.

This is lowkey one of my favorite parts of the game. From Eggman pulling a pro gamer move on Sonic and Tails, from Sonic takinga risky gamble and enabling Chaos Control, and Tails gaining the courage to avenge his "fallen" friend. SA2 had peak writing.

Now THIS is the Eggman that I know, when he wasn't a joke, and he meant business and didn't take any bullshit. This scene showed that he pretty much beat Sonic. Even Sonic basically admits that he had no idea it could save his life.
The newer sonic games make Eggman look like a wimp

Tails is more book smart than street smart. Robotnik is just evil so of course he would come up with something like this. Or maybe he just wanted to be recognized for his genius and holding the world hostage was the only way. When he finds out what his grandfather had planned, even he himself could not go through with it. He may not be so evil after all.

ItsDaRDG Vlogs and Skits Because Eggman already deduced that either Sonic or Tails carried a fake Chaos Emerald, due to energy readings coming from when he was at the pyramid base. And since he already had six emeralds, he knew one of them had to have been a fake.
I’m pretty sure Eggman picked up the wavelengths of the fake emerald earlier in the game. So, that’s how he knew it was fake. Tails just confirmed it for him.

Imagine if Dr. Eggman was playing poker against Phil Hellmuth in the WSOP and outsmarting him in a hand the same way he outsmarted Sonic in this scene.

Games, comics, and shows were all dumbed down. But i hear tell the Adventure series is coming back. Then there's the Sea3on Animated in the works, and the live action movie aint bad with a sequel on the way. IDW just feels like Walking Dead but with Sonic. Eh.

Imagine if Eggman was consistently this smart throughout the entire series.
Pre-Colors entries wouldn’t even have needed a last minute change of the main villain because Eggman would constantly be outsmarting everyone.
It would make the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise really standout if the main villain was consistently such a master planner who was always in complete control.
This is probably the greatest scene in the history of the Sonic franchise because of how there is such natural development in Eggman pulling the rug out from under everyone.
As we saw in the Dark story, Eggman knew there was a fake emerald but he didn’t know for sure if Sonic or Tails was the one who had it, so he set up a situation to bluff Tails into revealing who had the true emerald which was definitely a move befitting someone with such a high IQ.
Just my thoughts anyway.

i mean, yeah, eggman did have him in a glass container, but that really doesn't do anything for him. for all eggman knows (until like 15 seconds later) the emerald Sonic has could be the real one, so he can't shoot him out until he has 100% proof that it is fake. So Sonic is just this calm because he isn't in immediate danger.
Or, more likely, awful voice acting.

He was smart in SatAM. It took the combined effort of all the Freedom Fighters to stop him. And now they have to deal with Snively, who may even be worse than his uncle! Especially with Naugus on his side!!!

Forces wasn't planned out at all. It was all one big gimmick. Even Infinite was a cheap knock off of Shadow. They hyped it up as this big epic dark game and it was all BS.
Same with Tails in forces he couldn't even take on Choas 0
