We got an ancona a few years back. Poor bird ended up with crossbeak and her one eye was unable to open. She is very sweet and we still have her today. It is amazing how resilient chickens are.

I had a black chicken but a owl attacked it and it did live the attack but the other chickens started to attack it so we had to put it down sense it was hurting so much and we couldn't really do anything about it rest in peace to my friend 😔
When the owl injured the chicken. It should have been kept a part from the other chickens until it healed and there was no more blood on it. They're a very primitive bird. If they is an kind of wound it is a sign of weakness and the other chickens will kill it and most likely eat it if given a chance. That's why your. Chickens went after it. If a chicken is born defective most likely the mother will abandon it or the rooster will kill it. That's why farmers euthanize them. If They're defective. But that's why the other chickens went after the wounded one. Once they smell blood it's game over. .... An other fun fact chickens are the closest living relative to the T-Rex!

You are completely correct with the pronunciation of Niederrheiner. In German (same in Dutch) we glue words together to make one long word. In English they would have been the 2 separate words Nieder Rheiner (Lower Rhein) and therefor 2 R's are pronounced .

Actually he said it is her 9th month. But I am happy (and I am sure others are too) they have brought this 4th child into the world. She has a sweet personality. The boys seem protective too. So whether it is her 9th month or 12th month, it's great she brings joy to all.
@@barbarahouk1983 hasn't time flown by ♥️ yeah I was a little puzzled with the time line n took me a minute to realize Isabella was nine months old when they got the chicks and then they filmed three months later showing how big chicks grew, Isabella birthday was yesterday 🎉♥️😊♥️👍

There is a farm store that I used to go to that had bread racks full of chicks.I have always been good with birds. I used to be into parrots and we used to breed them and raise hand fed babies. I have always thought that I would like to raise my own chickens.
I used to have two barred rocks but the darn coons got them. Loved the video keep up the great work

I was so exited when i saw the mille fleur bantam chicks!!! We also got three three month old Dutch sabelpoot chicks, except that ours are all female. I hope to see them a few more times in your video's.

I found that if I stood by the coop and drum 🥁 gently with my finger's on the bottom of a coffee can they would come running to see what the noise was. Nothing loud just gentle tapping on the metal bottom. Just something that worked for me.
