Man, 2022 and this band/song still gets me in the feels. Super clean, every note and syllable on time and precise.
N Ranger was always a great live band. Their vocals were always in key and their timing was always tight. The choruses here are esp great. They're practically indistinguishable from the album(that's no small feat).
And yes, Kelly(drummer) has a stellar voice. Even if some one else in the band had wrote this song, they would've been crazy not to let him sing it. Blades has an amazing voice as well but Kelly was born to sing Sister Christian.

As a drummer, this song is hard enough to play. But to sing it to, with that passion, is so great. Thank you for turning me on to drums..
Agreed Dan, (was in several alternative and pop punk bands in the late 90's-early 2k's) drummers who can sing lead like that have excellent control over every part of their body. I could barely do backup vocals while maintaining my groove..
However vocals aside, theres notthing difficult about playing this song.

The real inspiration behind Sister Christian, Is Kelly Keagy's younger sister Christy Keagy whom is about 10 years younger then him.

My first concert ever was night ranger warming up for 38 special in 1984 at the Lake Placid Olympic Center on the midnight madness tour. I still have my t shirt from that concert it was awesome

Well this is one because he wrote it. This was actually night ranger's second album. I preferred thier first Dawn Patrol but it did not really have any hits off from it. Jack Blades is the main singer of the group although as the group went on Kelly did more singing,
***** As far as i know he did while live. Im pretty sure while recording though he didnt. However i do seem to recall one performance later in years where he wasnt behind the drums singing this though i dont remember where it was
It just doesn't get any better. His heart is clearly in that performance and it shows!

I have a weird imagination. Back when I was a kid in the '80's, and I first heard this song, I thought it was about a guy trying to convince a young woman not to become a nun. Nuns are Christians, and the younger/lower ranking nuns are called "sisters."
Actually, according to Wikipedia:
The song is about Keagy's little sister, Christy. Keagy wrote the
song at his apartment, near Divisadero and California streets in San Francisco, after he had just returned from a visit to his hometown of Eugene, Oregon. He had been struck at how fast his teenaged sister, 10 years younger than he was, was growing up.[3]

exactly are you saying?'" Keagy recalled. "He thought the words were

And that word "motorin'?" I couldn't figure out what that word was. From the same article:

As a drummer that loves this song... I can say, it is not an easy song to play wihtout the singing. Such a great job. This is one of many songs my sisters passed down to me as I tried to be as cool as them. I miss music like this.

These guys were really pretty awesome. If you listen to much of their stuff live, they rarely if ever miss a note and in 20 plus years touring you could count on one hand the number of nights where they didn't play great. True professionals. And all of them are cool dudes. I'm sure you all know this, the guitarist, Brad Gillis, did the Tour with Ozzy Osborne when Randy Rhodes died. He learned something like 15-20 songs on the flight to meet the band on the road.
GOD, how I loved this song, brings back memories.
Just classic good old school American Rock right here. A bygone era, Midnight Madness is one of the best albums of all time, blows anything out of the water in mainstream music today. That is for sure!
