The lyrics:
What do you do
When it's falling apart
And you know it was going
From the very start
Do you close your eyes
And dream about me
A girl in love
With a gleam in her eye
I was a yonger boy
All dressed in white
We're older now
Do you still think about me
I remember we learned about love
In the back of a Chevrolet
Well it felt so good to be young
Feels like yesterday
When you close your eyes
Do you dream about me
When you close your eyes
Do you dream about me
I guess I don't know what I'm thinking
Coming off a hard night of drinking
Angle come closer to me
I need a soul to bleed on
It could'a been done
In a different kinda way
But that ain't you
You play tough when you play
It's over now
I bet you still think about me
I remember I held you so tight
And we danced the night away
With the moves of two wide eyed kids
I need you so much today
When you close your eyes
Do you dream about me
When you close your eyes
Do you dream about me
(repeat)
I remember we learned about love
In the back of a Chevrolet
No good for an old memory
To mean so much today
(repeat chorus)

When this song was out, fellas during your years in high school, Who wore holes in their pants with a bandana wrapped around their knee, ripped up t shirt or sleeveless shirts with any rock band on the front part of the shirt, and wore their hair long and curly with it poofed up?The 80's was a huge blast of fun.
I miss it!
Don't forget the jean jacket!
I miss the best decade ever.
Everybody misses the 80's!
I'm ready for 80s hair to come back in style. The fashion has already made a comeback.
I kinda dress pretty much the same...at 58... yep. Not nearly as many concert t-shirts these days, though...
If time travel is ever invented, I would highly recommend to EVERYONE, take a trip to the 80's...You'll never wanna leave...
Book me a ticket!! Life was all about the party.
The 80s was the best. I miss so much about them. I’d go back in a heartbeat
cratedog64 So true only people that lived it will feel the same
@cratedog64...couldn't agree more. If only we could. What a great time.
You got that right, Thomas!
I miss the 80s as a teenager. I hope they have a 80s section in heaven.
Amen.
that's the best comment. We can never go back but we have hope don't we?
@What The95 ..BEST COMMENT EVER!!!! ❤
I just hope Heaven has all my eatin up cassette tapes, or at least a pencil I could wind them back up with
@@lynch6642 ha! I forgot about the pencil rewind technique.
The eighties were hands down the best time in American history to be a teenager.......
+Mike Ridley yes Sir.
Oh yeah!!!
+Mike Ridley The 1950's were much nicer.
+Meade Music I bet the 50's were great. And everyone who was young in the 60's said it was great. I know all the music. I was born in 1967. My parents listened to oldies and I love the 70's and 80's too.
I would say the 90s were about as good since girls became a bit easier and there was less homophobia, but one advantage of the 1980s was that you were much more free in what you could say.
The 1950s would have sucked a bit with all the puritanical stuff.
I'm 52 today, take me back to the '80s. I don't want to be in this era.
Happy 69th Birthday Kelly Keagy September 15, 1952. Eugene OR. Drummer on this song. Wow, I remember this song like it was yesterday. Many more Kelly Dean.. Happy B-Day M Mc
I feel the same way. Those times will never return 😢
Me too!!!!
I HATE this whole century.... go back to 1969
Sounds suicidal
I'd give up 20 years of my life to live the 80's all over again. Sitting out in the summer on a cool night listening to the best music ever made on the radio. Not a care in the world.
We all would bro
I'm 41 music from the 70 and the 80 was great the best anything from around that time was awesome. To me my kind of music died when smells like teen spirit came out
me to best times definetly
Anyone that was there would.. peAce
Way better musicians in the 80s. Yeah 3 of these guys look like Will Ferrell and are totally over cheesing making this lame video but who cares great song! The 1990s hit and all of a sudden most music sucked. You had a few good Ozzy albums and GNR's double Illusion set but really not much after about 92 to look forward to talent wise and composition is still for the most part lame. If you like real music you will like my releases I am dropping this year. Most of the tracks are about 3/4s done and very listenable just not finished. They are not the same but you can tell I grew up listening to great music like this song and it reflects into my work. No lame cut paste copy add more VSTs and edit until it sounds good. Nope... just more real stuff like this just without beating the hook quite so to death!
We were so lucky to be teenagers in the 80's ...such a great time and the best music ever. I still love all of these tunes. What a beautiful time in our lives. I wish the world could return to this time and way of life. Happy reminiscing everyone ❤
Listening to this brings back memories makes me sad
yes you were, being teenager in the 20s is terrible
Real talk…in 1980 I was 18 years old. Nearly 60 and appreciation for this time grows by the day, even the four years I was on active duty in the Army. Including Germany from 1987-1989. Magical time…!
You can sure say that again. It would be so great to return. What a wonderful time to be a teen and then early 20's. If you weren't there, you can't understand. Man, where's a time machine?????
I'm 64 and was 25 when this song came out. Went to see them @ Freedom hall in johnson city tn. Also seen them about 6 years ago outside in kingsport Tn they still rocked the house. What an underrated band. What an awesome time to be young.. We grew up with the BEST Music The best FAST FOOD...The best places to crusie. It's magical dude.
Who's here in 2020 during this rotten pandemic, wishing they were kids back in the 80's again? A magical time, never to be repeated. :(
2022 here and you won't believe this crap...
Happy New Year-it’s 2024 and this song still rocks ✌🏼
The 80s had the AIDS and crack epidemics
@@joeytribiani9779 We still have AIDS, and addiction isn't an epidemic. That only applies to viruses. You're harshing our calm, dude.
the most underrated band of the 1980's prove me wrong
Would never try..I’m so agreeing & feeling goosebumps listening to this today..
yes should be in the rock and roll hall of fame!
They are still banging today!
Agreed. Love them
why doesnt anyone make music like this anymore
Look up crazy Lixx. A Swedish band that'll take you back
Best era of music ever
No shit. I'm not going to be THAT GUY who still listens to '*80''s stuff, but yes. It was the same cabal making the music as it is today, but at least they didn''t try fusion crap like Hick-Hop down our throats. They could have tried Motown & Heavy Metal but they didn't.
I don't even try to keep up anymore. If it's good, it will hit my ear 5-7 years from now.
I prefer the 70’s and 60’s.
When I close my eyes, I dream about being a kid in the 80s.
I had the same thought. I was born in '82 but I was fortunate enough to be around a lot of music. I may have been young but I knew so much about various genres of music thanks to my family. My uncle was even on Headbanger's Ball twice as the drummer for Nitro! I loved the 80's. Great music, movies, cartoons, toys...Lol so much greatness.
Just keep listening to the classics!
It was awesome!Great music, roller skating, bush bashes and drive in movie theaters!
Never stop dreaming!
You and me both sister : )
"No good for an old memory to mean so much today." How true!
Yeah, but it's hard not to be nostalgic
This is their best song, not Sister Christian. Still hits me every time.
Agreed! 👍
I saw them live. And you're right.
Sing me away is pretty bad ass to.
@@werearethedreamteam3724 I love Sing Me Away too. They’re both my favorite songs by them.
@@StLProgressive it's sad that "sing me away" doesn't have radio play whatsoever.
Graduated in 1984. The 80's rocked. So,so many great memories. One of the greatest decades for rock.
I graduated in 83 - the best
84 too
Little late... But '87
Me too!!!! 84!! Best years of my life!!!!
I graduated in 1986 and was very lucky to see these guys in concert
Dedicated To The Woman That Got Away.
Night Ranger is one of the greatest and most underrated bands there ever will be PERIOD.
To be honest I never really gave them a second thought...that is until I saw them live at Junefest in Vegas. They are by far the best live band I have ever seen ( and I have seen hundreds of bands live from the 60's on). WAYYY better live than recorded. Been hooked since.
I thought the drummer, Kelly Quigley was cool, had a good voice Jack Blades was good also
I’ve always said that!! Just a great band that was grossly underrated!😊
Amen
LOL, they are not really that good at all...PERIOD.
Who else that lived the 80’s miss them sooooooo much!!
Meeeeeee
Born in '63, the 80s were the BEST, hands down. Big haired chicks, loud gear drives in a small block, gas was $1.50 a gallon, damn i wanna go back
1963, When legends were Born!
64 👍
Where did you live in the 80s where gas was $1.50? In Cleveland it was around 99¢
@@johnk.2508 Sacramento, Ca
63 here 80s were good but loved the 70s best
Night Ranger highly underated band
Felt so good to be young....feels like yesterday.
Man that verse hits me right in my soul.
Totally agree. I was a preteen when this came out, now I’ll be 50 before I know it. Life goes fast.
That part literally pierces my heart every time I hear it!
@@ErikaMSmith no doubt 😢
Who knew it would go by so fast ?
Yes it does!!!!!
still listening in 2025! The 80's were the best. we were so lucky
They just don’t make such good rock ballads like this nowadays ❤️
This song still has the spark. All these years later.
Duh. Yeah, it does. Doesn't make it more popular though, just gets you 33 likes.
Anyone still feeling the memories of the 80’s with this
I've never forgotten them.
Oh yeah!
Every single day and I’m 50 lol
I remember this song being on the radio every morning getting ready for school.
Learned about love in front seats of an 81 mustang. Love of my life. Married 31 years
Mine was a 69 refurbished mustang my bf had at the time. Fun times
Man this song makes me feel so alive again.... learning about love in the back of a Chevrolet... being an 80'''s teenager kicked ass
I literally listened with my eyes closed. I was reaching back for something I can not obtain. Damn those were great times. 🤘❤
Being a teenager in 80s was so cool. I was 16 when this hit the charts. I'd love to go back. Man I had a blast as a teenager in the 80s; the clothes, the hair, the makeup and of course the music 💚💛💜💙🧡❤!!
Yes it did! Being 50 sucks!
It was the back of a 76 Plymouth Arrow in ‘84 for me but still, those are priceless memories!!!
Everybody saying how much they miss the 80s but unable to put it into words. You nailed it though--we felt so alive because of the music. The music of that era enhanced emotion like nothing else.
Underrated 80's banger. That bridge riff is a crusher.
Another drummer who can sing lead.
So did Genesis.
So did restless heart
And The Romantics
And he was hot too 😍
When I close my eyes, I dream about ......... being back in high school during the 80's, having my whole future ahead of me, and having the chance to undo the mistakes I've made.
I wish I could use my current life as a test run with the opportunity to keep it or go back to 1980 and start again. I liked the young me better but unfortunately I needed to know then what I know now.
My best friend in high school somehow talked the local radio station DJ into getting us backstage to meet Night Ranger when they came to my little Wisconsin town. They were perfect gentlemen, giving us little 16-year-old Catholic girls innocent tiny smooches before sending us on our way.
Yeah, I bet. Innocent? Ok.
La Crosse, WI ! I was there! Incredible show!
One of the most underrated albums of the 80's. Midnight Madness was an epic album.
I'm not going to do the vinyl LP re-hash gig, but I'm gonna get a cd player and start buying cd's.
@@rynes.rai7er993 Why not both?😁 There's something about the sound on a turntable. Ahhhhhh!
Nothing is like the 80s!!! Very lucky to have grown up in the 80s
An old crush/friend from the 80's stopped by my office today to say hello as he was passing through town and this song immediately came to mind from our youth...:)
It was great time to be a teenager. We got to hear all these great tunes when they were brand new.
And the videos!!!
Best decade for music. Even my 22 year old daughter says that.
The Best Night Ranger song ever!
Close..sister christian😄
Sing me away
The hair bands were the best. Miss the 80s so bad
A decade before the high of hair bands
Nothing is more badass than the lead singer playing the drums while singing.the 80s music ruled and always will and I’m glad I lived it.it was a great time to be a teenager.
Actually he is not the Lead Singer, he is one of the Singers, Jack Blades is the LEAD Singer.
Definitely, the 80s was a great period for music, but the 60s and definitely the 70s produced some amazing music. I turned 18 in 1980. Looking back, the 70s definitely had the best music.
49yrs old and this song is TIMELESS ❤
Even in 2020 the 80s is the best era EVER. So glad I was part of it!
If I can rewind reincarnate the eighties, I could because that's a great time in the eighties when real music like Night Ranger came to play. Before MTV started bringing music videos, Educational Saturday Morning Cartoons were for the great kids and American Bandstand was for the up and coming teenagers that knew what real music was compared to what were hearing now. I miss the eighties because the eighties was real, It's real life.
Not a big night ranger fan, but this just one of those songs that take you back in time and make you feel good.
Brad Gillis was the man. He stepped into the Ozzy tour when Randy died, which had to be the most thankless job in rock at the time.
yeah, that must have sucked. I read about the hate he got for basically helping OZZY.
And He did a verry good Job!
"Felt so good to be us..." If only we had knowhow then, and cherished the 80's for the magical time they were.
Still think this hit is their clear #1.
This is my go to Night Ranger song, Sister Christian is cool but this is my song.
Kelly Keagy had one of the most incredible voices of the 80s.
To Debbie,my first real love. The 80s were the best
Oh,man. How lucky we were to have grown up in the 80's! I'd go back in a heartbeat 💓
They don't make music like this anymore. These were good times.
The beauty of the 80's was growing up when everything was changing and for the better. Love of Country, God and people. We had the best music and heavy metal took the stage and lit up their guitars. All of this while still listening to the great music from the 70's and still enjoying the greatest country music artist Johnny Cash.
It's so sad that kids today have no clue of the great music we had.
I'm 19 sittin here chillin listening to this imagining I'm in the 80s lol
The 80s was the best. I absolutely loved it. To have grown up in the 80s was a blessing. I would definitely go back and stay
Graduated high school in 1986. Still a great tune.

Well it felt so good to be young, it feels like yesterday! For all of us who were teenagers in the 80s this song hits home as we are aging and getting older yet our teenage years feel like yesterday!
I couldn't agree more! I am on the coaching staff for my old high school soccer teams, so I am still very much around the building, and it keeps my memories alive as if it was yesterday! Class of 1986 Fenton High School...

Night Ranger told music fans in 1984 "When You Close Eyes", dreams come true. These dreams still come true in 2024.
1983
:11 Quite the power move there buddy. hehe.
Indeed haha
Every once in awhile I play this and go back to the spring of 1985. Me and my Tim are on the couch watching this video, swearing we'd never love anyone else.
And I never did and according to him, we'd still be together had it not been for Michelle Underwood breaking us up.
I miss him so much.
There's something sad about a one time lost love.
Have you ever tried to go back????????
Sad. Things happen for a reason. He may not be the person today that he was in 1985.
Just reading these comments takes me back
In 1986 my older brother worked security for Night Ranger at a concert and told the band his brother was a huge fan. They all autographed a paper for him to give me - I still have it. Classy guys and fantastic musicians. He also gave me his “Night Ranger - Security “ issued shirt which made me the coolest guy in my high school. Thanks again bro.
Playing the drums and singing at the same time, WOW!.
The most underrated band of the 80's. They are great!
I'm so glad I grew up in the 80s!!!
I bet everyone listening to this has someone from the past they would dedicate this excellent song to. Or be the one it's dedicated to. Damn I miss the eighties. Of course every decade is nice in it's own right but since I've been living none of them tops the eighties.
For me her name is GLORIA.The one that I let walk away, massive regret.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 80's how I miss THEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hard to believe they could cram so much 80s goodness into one single video!
Arlo Pear just saw them last night as an opening act for REO Speedwagon. Their part of the concert was way too short. I like REO but went for Night Ranger. Love the concert was was somewhat disappointed with how long they spent on stage.
I always get goosebumps on the part of feeling good to be young.. wow!
Hello pretty
Me too
80's were great times. That's when MTV was at it's best and the last decade where musical artists were real and talented.
Starting 2024 off in my happy place of time!
56 years old and Night Ranger still rocks. 80s music is the best...
If only I could go back to the 80s best time for music 🎶

I turned 20 in 1980.
Heard this for the first time on a American Top 40 re-run this morning. This goes hard! Although, it's Night Ranger, so that's not really a surprise. lol
Wish I could go back to the 80s. Bring my two Daughters they'd love it. So many great times memories.
Man, watching this video makes me think 2020 even sucks more then it already does.. Miss the 80's!!! big time!

The 80s bands are awesome.
I graduated in 92. I would go back in a freakin heartbeat
I'll join in on the conversation. The 80s were the best.
Nothing like the 80s.
This song was one of my favorite songs by them and when I meet my future wife she made me a tape with this song not knowing it was one of my favorite songs by them ...meet her in 85 and married her in 86 and we still together as we shared many bumpy roads but always stayed together and in love 34 years and still the songs touches us I love you always Francine candy stamps
The 80’s were the best decade depending on what part of the world you lived in, but definitely the best time in my life and would like to go back in time and enjoy those years all over again.
Great 1980s song!!! The 70s & 80s had the Best Music in my opinion. Night Ranger was a Great Band!!! They had a lot of Great Tunes!!!
So glad my teenage years were in the '80's
God bless the 80's...😢

Nightranger is such a great band. I only got into them a few years ago when i REALLY listened to AOR bands and Im 52 years old. How did AOR pass me by in the 80?!Maybe it was a living in Northern Ireland thing. Now AOR i my favourite Rock genre
My all time favorite! I sure wish I could go back to the 80's!
