I have owned this car for nearly three years, bought it used in 2016, it is so comfortable, I really don't want to drive any other brand or model, just a really well made great driving car!

I have a blizzard pearl white 2011 Avalon Limited. After it hit 100k miles, it did require some routine maintenance such as various bushings, steering rack dust shield, front struts, alternator and tie rods. Rear sunshade gear broke and the HID bulbs don't seem to last too long. However, with everything fixed, the car is like new. Cruises down the interstate at 80-85 quietly and smooth. Rear seat area is gigantic and those reclining rear seats are universally applauded. Also appreciate having a large fuel capacity to go with it's good fuel economy. Can get 500 miles out of a tank if all highway. Engine has plenty of power.
At 300 k miles, you need to replace tránmission, otherwise it would break down . My 1998 red Avalon had broken down at 332 k miles in 2018 and I just bought in Dec 2020 a 2009 silver Avalon at 116 k miles. Hope I will die before thís one dies. .I am 77 y old nơw

I have this exact year, a limited, loaded, in pearl white with taupe interior.. solid car.. bought it new it was $39,600.... before taxes.. still drive it daily and it’s got 142,000+ miles on it.. only issue I had was the pearl white paint began to come off the roof .. apparently Toyota had issues with that color that year.. well.. Toyota made good on it and I just got it back, roof and other areas repainted for free.. looks like friggin new again. Damn.. who else steps up like that 10 years later.. thanks Toyota .. my next car will be your Lexus perhaps the GX once it’s refreshed.. until then I’ll keep on cruisin down the road.. I’ll drive that car anywhere and it will make it back.. the interior is solid as well 10 years later just some wear on my drivers seat.. leather of course.. expected.. take care all!!!
I don’t think many people know this, but the Toyota 3.5 that is officially rated at 268 horsepower was originally rated at 280 Idk why, but they downgraded the official numbers to 268, but the power output never changed from 280
@@vel6979 its not a mistake, almost all japanese car manufacturers changed the way they measure hp and tq in 2006. The 2005 maxima made 265 hp on paper, the 2007 maxima made 255 on paper. Same exact car
well lets see, American cars pretty much fail and end up getting bailed out while Japanese cars pretty much dominate the American market (ironic isnt it?) If you dont believe me look at the stats....I own a 99 camry and 07 avalon and my camry has never had an engine or trans problem even though it has 230K miles on it...most American cars dont even last that long
The problem is that by 1980, American cars STOPPED being "American" cars, they just became deposable junk. The AVALON is proof of this. The Avalon WAS designed for the American car buyer. It's the kind of car that BUICK would make if Buick had kept to the standards that Buick was in the 1960s. The Japanese car makers (more than the European car makers) know what we like. And they make them, and we buy them. Toyota has the "rep" that Chevy once owned, Lexus is where Cadillac once was. It's sad (as I'm a Chevy/Buick guy since the '70s..) But in TRUTH, The US car manufacturers left their OWN market (Buick concentrates on the Chinese market today...). The Japanese car makers swooped in by selling US what we WANTED.

2005 avalon xls, 180k miles. owned for about a month now. comfiest ride I've ever had and it's a super reliable car. very fun to drive. super responsive steering and it just wants to go fast. total sleeper car lol, definitely buy one if you're in the market for a sedan

The 'limited' with Dark Gray exterior and a brownish burgundy leather. I think they call it bordeaux. Just got back from another 400 mile trip. Great road car. We averaged 80m.p.h. in total comfort.

i like leather cuz its more padded...more comfortable...doesnt get stained as easy and absord odors...and has higher resale value....guess everything has their ups and downs...

The original died and spent 2 months being checked out by GM and they could not fix it so they had to give the neighbors a brand new one and that is having a problem now. The other neighbor's Taurus seems to be doing well though.

lexus AFAIK still made in japan, with typical japanese levels of build quality. toyotas made outside of japan with variable build quality, translates into more squeaks and rattles in the later years, though my '04 was tight as a tick over bumpy roads, no squeaks or rattles at all. the lexus es300/350 of the last generation, is perceptibly quieter and better over sharp pavement flaws, a more bank-vaulty solid feeling.
the new 2013 is coming, based on the people who saw the car already. they claimed that the new Avalon borrowed style cues from the Audi A7 and Jaguar XJ. and has the interior of a new Lexus.. cant wait to see it in the showrooms in 2012.
I used to not like this generation Avalon, but now I think this body style Avalon would look great in black, with a set of the new Supra's OEM 5 spoke wheels on it. Maybe slighty lowered just to look a little more aggressive. Not stanced or anything crazy low. Just like...1/2 inch lower?
wait: 14.9 barrels of oil weighs 5371 lbs. How the hell does that translate in to 8.1 tons of Co2? That's 16,200 lbs. The CO2 from a car's exhaust has almost 3X the mass of the liquid fuel it consumes? I get that oxygen is used as well, but what am I missing?
Odd that it would be 0.5 seconds slower to 60 in their test compared to earlier version with the same engine. Especially since the 2011 got the new 6 speed automatic transmission. And it’s not a matter of weight. The 2011 Limited is heavier than the 2005 limited by only 16 pounds.
i think this car is not bad if you want more of a large family sedan with some luxury feature sedan, and great reliability. If sportiness performance and more styling is important to you, then look somewhere else. the genesis is also a great sedan but i wouldn't call it sporty though. it's a bit soft unlike the bmw 3 series.
Look Toyota cars may be not that much to look at, hut they are reliable beyond belief. I have owned a Chevy trailblazer worst piece of shit i have ever owned. The interior was falling apart and it was very out dated you needed a cassette tape converted to listen to anything on your phone. Id take comfort, reliability, and rock solid engine performance than anything. Also who the hell is gonna look at your driving a Taurus or a lacrosse anyway its not that cool looking. Theirs a reason why Toyota is the #1 automaker in the united states is Americans built cheap shit and make money off parts to fix them. Im an american and i will never give back to the economy in a car.

Super great car even though it's long overdue for an actual makeover and not just an update to the 2005 model. Oh and all you Taurus and Buick lovers out there remember that you are really comparing your 2011 model cars to this "2005" remake and the Avalon is still better......except for the dated exterior of course.
You really don't understand, do you? I'm not talking about profit, or even gains. I'm talking about how in just 4-5 years, American cars were able to re-take their majority of CARS ON THE ROAD. That means they obviously were able to sell at a very good rate.
That time Japan built a REAL Buick! I am a Buick guy, but Buick decided NOT to be a "low key" premium car by '11, Toyota steps in with a "Buick" for REAL. Buick was Cadillac for people NOT wanting to "show off". That's what Avalon's point was. A "Lexus" without the "show-off" baggage of having the Lexus badge.

Incorrect. That happened in 2007, where Japanese vehicles did at a time dominate the American car market for a year or so, where 52% of cars on the roads were Japanese. Not anymore, currently in 2012, American cars have made a comeback, along with the economy, the percentage of Japanese cars in American roads are at around 40%.

2000 avalon 330k miles, still running strong. never changed anything harder than timing belt.
my 2011 is currently at around 446k miles. I haven't bought a new car since 2011.
my 05 avalon has a timing chain so it's even more indestructible, 180k miles and hasn't needed much service besides oil changes

I have on 06 Touring. 110K on it & still gets it to 60 in 6 flat. Think I'll drive it until the wheels fall off.

This makes sense. It is just as fast as my 2007 gs350 with 303hp. With the lower curb weight 280 would be about the same power to weight ratio.

2022 and I test drove a 2011 Limited. Wow. Definitely getting it. Definitely excited. It blows the base Lexus same year out the window.
That 3.5L V6 is so satisfying to hear. Smooth and powerful. Maybe a bit slow for this model but in The Camry it really moves.

I own a 2006 with 200k miles, and the engine still is very powerful. These cars last forever!

That's because its based on a gallon of gas after combustion. So chemically yes, a co2 MOLECULE is 3x heavier than a carbon atom.
Odd that it would be 0.5 seconds slower to 60 in their test compared to earlier version with the same engine.

And it’s not a matter of weight. The 2011 Limited is heavier than the 2005 limited by only 16 pounds.

i think this car is not bad if you want more of a large family sedan with some luxury feature sedan, and great reliability. If sportiness performance and more styling is important to you, then look somewhere else. the genesis is also a great sedan but i wouldn't call it sporty though. it's a bit soft unlike the bmw 3 series.

John noted most of the differences but the Limited trim gets a wood trimmed steering wheel, cooled seats (not just heat) and different wheels.

Look Toyota cars may be not that much to look at, hut they are reliable beyond belief. I have owned a Chevy trailblazer worst piece of shit i have ever owned. The interior was falling apart and it was very out dated you needed a cassette tape converted to listen to anything on your phone. Id take comfort, reliability, and rock solid engine performance than anything. Also who the hell is gonna look at your driving a Taurus or a lacrosse anyway its not that cool looking. Theirs a reason why Toyota is the #1 automaker in the united states is Americans built cheap shit and make money off parts to fix them. Im an american and i will never give back to the economy in a car.
After watching this Avalon in this video was kind of in my opinion very pretty looking and design comparison to what the other ones do.

Super great car even though it's long overdue for an actual makeover and not just an update to the 2005 model. Oh and all you Taurus and Buick lovers out there remember that you are really comparing your 2011 model cars to this "2005" remake and the Avalon is still better......except for the dated exterior of course.

That time Japan built a REAL Buick! I am a Buick guy, but Buick decided NOT to be a "low key" premium car by '11, Toyota steps in with a "Buick" for REAL. Buick was Cadillac for people NOT wanting to "show off". That's what Avalon's point was. A "Lexus" without the "show-off" baggage of having the Lexus badge.
The Equus was never an Avalon competitor, it was more of an LS competitor

That happened in 2007, where Japanese vehicles did at a time dominate the American car market for a year or so, where 52% of cars on the roads were Japanese.
Not anymore, currently in 2012, American cars have made a comeback, along with the economy, the percentage of Japanese cars in American roads are at around 40%.
