Your mums doing it the right way, you need the batter in order for it to fry. Kays just used egg so no matter what way she fries it it wont ever be a batter coating & you need that batter to bind it together otherwise it'll fall apart exactly as kays did. Also you dont even use an egg for batter, to make it its just plain flour, baking powder, salt then whisk in milk & water & the consistency should be that it coats the back of a spoon 🙂

Ok listen. In every taste test your son does , it's always the same result where he says he can't taste anything. SALT IS A FLAVOUR ENHANCER ! Meaning that salt brings out the flavor in food ! You never season anything and the rare times you do its always the bare minimum! Your food is always bland due to the lack of salt . I cannot stress enough the importance of seasoning the food!! Use some bloody salt woman! !!!! 😭

Yes . I think the oil is too heavy , shallow fry or bake with sprayed oil may be better !

What you should have done is shaped and froze the sweetcorn and potato mixture. Then dip them in some batter or breadcrumbs and fried them.
