After luxury brands being exposed for sweatshop factory practices, it really made me realized that they are not as special or different as those dupes and Zara.
If these brands weren’t VASTLY overpriced with mediocre quality, superfakes of very equivalent quality and materials could never be a thing; they just wouldn’t be profitable. Yet they are. 🤔
I think a lot of people are getting wise to this. Luxury doesn’t equal quality, and for some people that was never as important as the label, but a lot of people thought they were getting something well made. I got a $20 bag off Amazon that feels sturdier than the $800 original. That’s a problem for the original brand, but they did this to themselves.
@@jennypaxton8159 I will never forget the high end luxury industry made a campaign against buying fakes because they are tied to criminal organizations and slave labor. Only to be revealed to be doing the same thing and over priced their products.
@@jennypaxton8159 Years ago I remember reading somewhere that the reason why there ewre some superfakes that were at the same level as the designer bags was because they were manufactured in the same factories and with the same materials/labels as the real one. And the older I get, the more I realize there was truth there. The wealthy are finding even higher level and wealthier brands, and are now doing the vintage shopping because it's more of a one-kind. They will always one-up plebs. But those of us that were upper middle class that could afford a bag over a couple of years of work or saving, have realized they are the same shit as other brands.
i look homeless most of the time now wearing grey sweat pants and tshirt - people wouldnt have any idea. If get dresse with my bags people comment non-stop.
My parents recently went to Italy and brought back for my sister and I, the most beautiful leather handbags with impeccable stitching and craftsmanship straight out of the street marketplace! They are unbranded and made in Italy and the quality is absolutely beautiful. Designer brands do not carry the glitz or reputation they used to, now it's all about quality and value which is no longer associated with these fashion houses.
I went to Italy, last year and this year, brought such gorgeous bags there in the shops. I have my Chanel I brought in the 90’s still fabulous today. Older viewer, would not purchase now, and no why would I cow tail to a company to buy something. Great Channel thank you .
That doesn't surprise me. Most people are obsessed with labels not quality. I found a gorgeous made in Italy bag at a thrift store one year. It had initials on it and I was googling to find out how do I 'erase' someone else's initials. So, a light bulb went off in my head and I contacted the company direct. They wanted me to send the bag back to them and they would 'erase' them and redo the gold trim on the bag! The bag was made in the late 50s to early 60s and everything on that bag was stellar! Such high quality. So, I sent them the bag and they sent it back minus the initials and new gold trim. It's so gorgeous! Better than that, no one else has one.
And the shoes in Italy 😍 the unbranded shoes are phenomenal … the leather the workmanship and comfort better than and high designer shoes I own and I own a lot!
I lost interest in luxury brands because of the oversaturated Instagram fake rich/models "influencers" who only embody vulgarity. Chanel was a sign of elegance but since social medias are flooded with fake models, fake rich, Onlyfans girls, porn rappers, overbotoxed life coaches who wear these brands I now associate them with vulgarity. I find more elegance in vintage and well-cut goods without any logos on.
I completely agree. The exception for me is Coach. I don't mind their logos since they are attainable, it doesn't feel I'm trying to name drop. I have a soft spot for them and glad to see them doing well.
I’ve been seeing this more with Hermes. The birkin and Kelly and Constance are now basic bags. The level of vulgarity turns me off from items I used to love. Makes me want to trash my items.
People are getting smarter. Paying $5,000+ for a bag was NEVER justifiable, but because of brand reputation, quality, and pursuit of status symbols, people continued to buy. But now that we're in a time of lack, status symbols aren't the flex that they once was, especially when quality across the board has seen significant decline. Plain and simply put: people are thinking critically.
@soahdoll we also lost Oscar De La Renta, and Yves Saint Laurent in the 2000s to 2010s decade. Hollywood put Dolce and Gabanna, Versace , Roberto Cavalli, and a few other names on the red carpet map. However, Hollywood, especially the red carpets, are not hot anymore. The magic, imo is gone. Just my observation and thoughts.
It's the end of corporate luxury - mass produced with cheap labor, bad quality, sold at exorbitant prices, because we think the famous brand means quality. It used to, before the corporate owners betrayed us. Now, luxury I think its small independent brands, I know one in Singapore called Thomaswee, where every garment is made by the designer himself and 2 assistants and the pieces produced are so small in number, because they just don't have the ability to make more. I'm sure such designers/brands exist in many countries, where's there's just one shop and not available on line. Exclusivity, actual rarity and not mass produced is the new luxury. And the prices are realistic, based partly on how much it actually cost to make, because their not charging for international advertising, celebrities, magazine covers, rental space etc like corporate fashion.
Thomas Wee is a legend in the Singapore fashion industry. He used to be more prolific but has slowed down in the last 20 years or so. I think he's also a lecturer in one of the fashion schools here.
In the late 80s my female boss did a big Far Eastern/Oceania trip of a lifetime for her 60th birthday and high on her list was to have two corporate skirt suits hand made in Singapore. They were colourful, one royal blue, the other a beautiful bright green and fitted to perfection. Her tiny 5ft frame filled the room when she wore them, she said they made her feel ten feet tall and like she could take on the world. 😊
They broke the 4th wall. The only rule of luxury is to not make it only about money like you are poor. They got their money short term but cheapened their brand long term. Every decision they made was about money and grabbing whay they could. They were burning it all down behind them. It was self-destructive to destroy relationships and the good will of their customers. It's a toxic ex-boyfriend vibe.
Chanel did this to themselves so I have zero empathy. I will keep the bags I have but def not buying more. Not even pre loved. Prices are way too high. I mean a WOC 3500plus??? NEVER
Dacob, you are right, for me, the spark is gone. I just returned from Mexico and visited the Chanel, LV, and Hermes boutiques, me and my husband were the only customers. This echoes what I've been seeing in my local boutiques. Earlier this year I visited my local boutique in Boca Raton, FL, inside Saks, we were the only customers among about 5-6 SA's; I was looking for an SLG, and told the SA that SLG's are my weakness as I was about to leave since they didn't have the item I was looking for. His eyes lit up and put the rope across the entrance in an effort to keep me in the store. He returned to the counter and started to pull out trays upon trays of SLGs. I was so shocked to see that many SLGs available. I left without buying anything. I momentarily felt bad for the SA because they too are feeling the brunt of Chanel's greed and carelessness with how they treat their customers....anyway, I enjoyed your video, per usual 😊
I have not been impressed with Chanel, outside of perfumes, in a very long time. For me there is nothing in Chanel that is worth a 3 hour car drive and the ridiculous prices. It seems Chanel's declining quality and forcing the aspirational shopper out of the market, just might come back haunt Chanel. If I really want a leather flap bag, I will go with Coach or Kurt Geiger.
I can't lie, I'm not even interested in their fragrances anymore. I got bored of Coco Mademoiselle and the Chance range… the other fragrances are just too elderly for my taste (even the higher priced boutique fragrances)
Went to 31 rue cambon 3 weeks ago…..the boutique was empty…..the SA at the entrance ( he was the intermediate and greater) was lovely and eager to help me ….a bit to much …because i was planning to look around by myself before going to the parfumerie ….he was always at my back and it was intimidating….the SA at the exclusive was very friendly and he was impressed with my knowledge of the brand ( thanks to you Dacob )…..finally i choose Bois des Îles and a few compact mirrors ( for gifts)….and up with nice samples and extra bags for the gifts…oh! And a took a picture in the iconic mirrors stare’s….❤
I agree. I prefer vintage Chanel, I’m at peace with my collection the way it is right now. They haven’t come out with anything that made me want to run to Chanel and buy it. And the prices are outrageous when you compare it to the quality. Alot of people are just over it and I am one of them
Love your channel Dacob! It’s the same here in London. The Bond Street boutiques are much quieter and Harrods is super empty during the week. Initially I assumed it this was largely due to the UK no longer offering VAT rebates to tourists since Brexit. However, I was in Paris this summer and LVMH’s La Samaritaine was dead. We were one of the handful of customers in the store so were able to get a table for lunch with no queue, very quick service and a prixe fixe lunch menu! Yet, we had to queue the day before to get a table at galleries Lafayette because many people are looking for somewhere with air conditioning in the middle of summer. So the aircon alone should have been enough to bring more people into the store. Interestingly, there were still queues every day outside Goyard on Rue Honore. So there are still plenty of people that will pay for luxury. However, in London and Paris it seems to mostly be tourists from Asia and the Middle East that are purchasing. Perhaps because there’s still a bit of a saving to buy in Europe compared to prices in other regions (even without the VAT rebate). The quiet luxury trend continues to lead here. I am noticing more of the fashion conscious purchasing IYKYK brands and opting for quality over logos. Another commenter has mentioned the price increases also add a safety consideration. This is very true! Ten years ago colleagues would be wearing Chanel totes and luxury watches to the office. Since lockdown this is far less common. Even those that are not struggling financially don’t want to appear to be flaunting and certainly don’t want to be a walking target for thieves.
It’s giving those mall kiosk sales associates who beg you to come over and buy something and then as you don’t show interest they magically pull out discounts to get you to buy
Sadly, I think that's every retailer at a mall nowadays. I had that experience with Lenscrafters and Oakley. Yes, they're both EssilorLuxottica brands but they're probably hurting for customers as well. The only place that's the busiest in the mall are the restaurants, bars and food courts.
Here in Munich too, I observed the Luxury Stores are empty… Even me I’m not excited anymore to buy luxury bags😅 I’d had enough luxury bags and new prices are not exciting anymore.
I often walk past the Chanel boutique in Luxemburg. Most of the time there is nobody inside the shop. Staff is bored out. I wonder how they can pay their rent.
That’s the power of correct pricing! If you overcharge specially with so many back to back increases you just end up making your product look cheap… Chanel looks desperate… and desperation has an awful smell.
I think the pandemic also opened the eyes of consumers to how important liquidity and having better investments are. As the prices continue to rise, it makes less sense to put your hard earned money (even if you have it made), towards purchases that have lost their luster as "luxury" in terms of consumerism. Notably, luxury continues to fade becoming a relic of a different era. Since Covid we learned overnight that true luxury is being financially secure, healthy, and at peace. A Chanel bag didn't provide much solace back then and less now at 2 or 3 times the price. Chanel seems to have lost the plot.
I absolutely adore vintage fashion. It’s something that is special, and durable. It’s pretty and gives off that classy look to it. I am also looking into artisanal pieces from smaller luxury brands, making my own perfumes, and going to pre loved vintage stores. It’s the charm that has a hold on me, and I’m a sucker for pretty tchotchkes
Congratulations on reaching your subscriber milestone, Dacob! 🥳🥳🥳 What allegedly is going on with Chanel is like your tried and true favorite restaurant where you can always get delicious and delightful food has changed. The go-to dishes don’t taste the same because the restaurant has been sold and is under new management. They’re using margarine instead of butter, they changed suppliers who provide subpar products and the original staff has been replaced with inexperienced employees that don’t give a crap about customer service. It’s very sad.
I think that is good advice actually. When the skin is sagging, why not put it back in place? You look the exact same, only younger. I did it. No regrets.
Maybe uncommon opinion but Hermès is giving me the same vibes lately. Quality is going down and nobody wants to play their games anymore. The prices on Mini Kelly’s etc on the preloved market are relly getting down and for me carrying one of their quota bags nowadays is like carrying a LV Speedy. The magic is gone 🤷🏼♀️😵💫
well yeah so many fakes and dupes and stuff, why bother? jumping through hoops to look like a lady of the night whose john bought it for her to evade taxes?
My Chanel Sa just randomly sent me a picture of a small vanity with a handle trying to push a sale. 3400.00 for a damn slg that was 1500.00 four years ago. I just sent her back this emoji 😂😂😂 years ago these small vanity bags were sold out before hitting the selling floor. Now you can walk into any Chanel store and these slgs are sitting on display shelves. Where is all of this unsold stock going? 🤔
Customers eventually opened their eyes and saw how luxury brands con us with huge prices and poor quality… We are more educated and don’t go just for the Label anymore…
That nothingness you are experiencing with Chanel is from being taken advantage of and not getting the value of what you are paying. I think we are all waking up to how greedy these companies have become (thank you Dior), the executives had to get their gross bonuses.
You’re right Dacob. And the (lack of) quality is real. I returned a pair of ballet flats with the turn locks because of two concerns: 1) wouldn’t break in 2) the hardware would be faulty. And the next time I get a Chanel bag, it will be preloved. And congrats on your subscriber milestone! 🎉❤
@@m.theresa1385 I believed I did. Tried on another pair in a different style but they were too tight. I’m a 39.5/40 depending on the style. I have 4 other pairs of Chanel casual shoes so I’m not sure what the issue is.
This is the reason I only purchase vintage Chanel handbags. The quality was amazing when Karl Lagerfeld was at the helm in the 80s and 90s. I will never purchase a new Chanel handbag.
The prices are sooo high and these brand take away of the passion to buy their products as the prices are unacceptable , I used to buy but there is no mojo any more as also the quality is not as before
Even their perfumes, theirs Christian Dior and so on there’re reports out there saying that they’ve been changing the formula on it so that when you put it on the smell doesn’t last it which prompts you to then spray on more in order to keep the smell long lasting alongside major increase in prices as my favorite fragrance every time I buy it now has an increase of at least 20%. Really a big NEXT to all those high luxury brands!
I too get texts and emails from Sa from Chanel and Lv about new collections .Never was I VIP and had to beg them before .Now I don't even enter those stores anymore.
I'm going to Paris and Florence next year for the first and likely the only time in my life and it's always been my dream to to to the Rue Cambon store and buy myself a Chanel bag but I really can't think of anything I want from Chanel. It's so sad to me.
You know, we used to live in Seattle and I walked places and I saw people and I sat in cafés and I dressed up a bit. we left because the city just wasn’t safe anymore. And that’s how a lot of cities have become. We moved out to the boonies and everyone here dresses very casually, and I wouldn’t be caught dead with a pricey purse.
Beautiful !!!! I am happy Chanel is going down , i remember 4 years ago the hype was huge , everybody was buying trash thinking its luxury 😂😂 what a joke ! What a beautiful turnaround ! 😂
ooof! i love it when the haughty & arrogant are brought down low. Maybe this Chanel story is why Chanel bought into The Row? Need a new income stream? A new shipafter the old one finally sinks?
When I go to these luxury stores now all I can think is where was it really produced, how much did it really take to make and when is it going to start wearing and falling apart after purchase.
It’s interesting that ( even with astronomic pricing and reduced quality ) the Chanel boutique in Chicago is the only shop on famous Oak street that has a line waiting to get in. The fantasy is still alive in some circles
They commented they didn't want "everybody" wearing their bags, now that we listened, you mad? Make it make sense. Hopefully it puts them out of business....
Personally, I think the passion to acquire these luxury items is that I no longer feel they are exclusive. I see them everywhere!. Also when I saw "El Chapo's" wife with ahuge chanel bag, I thought to myself. That's it.
All luxury brand has lost its magic for me for a while now. A SA from Cartier actually personally text me. She’s never done that before. I just ignored it. lol! Not buying anything from there anymore.
Oh Dacob!! Chanel really thought they were gonna be Hermes in these luxurious streets! I have my 2 Chanel bags and multiple pairs of Chanel shoes. I'm good. It's not just Chanel. I haven't been sent in a "must have frenzy" by any designer lately. I was watching some of the Balenciaga show. I was like....Not another wannabe Hermes bag 🤦🏾♀️ I'm so over designer anything right now 😏 I have plenty of designer goods to hold me right now. I have been bathing myself in jewelry 😄 My last few big purchases have been jewelry. I'm one of those older ladies you see out with the big gaudy rings on every finger 😄 I adore a gaudy diamond ring darling 💁🏾♀️ Have a great rest of the week Dacob 🙋🏾♀️
Well especially since the bags are 3 times as much as they were before, the bad customer service/experience, quality issues and the news with LVMH, and Dior and Balenciaga- no one wants this nonsense! Plus fakes are all over - why even bother? I recently went to Chanel and they have classic WOCs and classic flaps - I didn’t check for any minis but they do have stock now!! I don’t wear my classic flap - I don’t want to be a target. I agree Dacob! The magic is gone 💔
Dacob, 40% off is still over priced IMO. Especially since Chanel staff get 95% off at the sales. I know this because a friend of mine works at one of Chanel’s beauty boutiques. The Chanel magic died when Karl lagerfeld died. Prices skyrocketed, what for? They’re still overpriced even if the CF went back to $3,000 price point. Now it’s 4x!! I mean really, they’re just f-king with us. Not me! Even the Beauty products have failed for me this year, I have all this spare money now. It’s a good feeling 😊
@@Strawbettys yes always reformulating and not always for better. Eyeshadow is hit and miss. Blushes are terrible now. Limited edition is usually better but over priced. I do mostly like their foundations but how many does one need?
I subscribe to a psychology magazine and they always send it packed in a biodegradable super soft bag. If they can achieve this for a few quid magazine, surely luxury brands can get a nice material for their products.
The way this is going soon perfume and beauty products will become unusable as well. This is very sad. Chanel was a hold out for quality, at least in terms of Les Exclusifs.
The perfume thing is real. I went to Sephora and smelled Dior Sauvage EDP, and it was nothing like I remembered. It was extremely light, and almost impossible to smell. Moreover, my clone made by Afnan "Modest Une" smells identical, yet extremely strong and long lasting.
I would never want a Chanel flap bag - way too may people have them plus a gazillion fakes out there - zero exclusivity. NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE WHO HAS ONE - JMO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The magic of most luxury brands is gone with the price increases and subpar service and flex culture in sm and brands relying on influencers for advertising and the revelation that much of what’s made outside of France involves laborers who need to be paid better given how much these bags cost.
For the Hollywood reference, it reminds me of Joan Crawford being called black office poison in the 30s. I agree with new products being meh, its reflective to most brands, no point buying these items new anymore. But pre loved/second hand have problems with authenticity, we consumers can never win
"In 2023, the Wertheimer brothers, the owners of Chanel, received a $5.7 billion dividend from the luxury brand, which was the largest annual payout in the company's history. This was part of a total of $12.4 billion in payouts over the previous three years." They cashed out and now that Karl is gone, some magic has been lost, and they don't care.
Just finished looking at the Chanel 2025 Spring show. OMG, they ought to be ashamed! I kept waiting for something that screamed "Chanel" -- uncomplicated designs, exceptional pieces, traditional craftsmanship. Instead, all I got was a very expensive version of fast fashion attempting to fool customers because they added tweeds and a version of camellias! The "powers that be" running that company have destroyed the brand with their GREED!
Yup Dacob! I could not agree more. Additionally when I use to go to Southcoast Plaza two 3 years ago every other person was carrying a Chanel Classic Flap…..now not so much…in fact I am seeing everything but Chanel bags….I think they pissed us mere mortals off as we stopped buying their over priced stuff. I am selling the two pairs of uncomfortable Chanel sneakers and the one bag I have before they resale prices really tank on their stuff cause the deals on their stuff second hand are a plenty. But I still ain’t buying them!
My daughter who is in early 30 and no interest in bags was asking me to keep my Chanel and other bags ,I am in my 60s ,so my collection of bags in days gone by are much better and her friends have told her that the Chanel bags now have bad leather 😅
People are losing interest in designer brands overall. This past weekend I was the at Desert Hills Premium Outlets and the stores were FULL of merchandise from past collections. Fendi had an additional 30% and 40% many items. Burberry was full of sales - especially on RTW. Even Prada and YSL had tons of bags I have seen in store.
I tried to buy a $7000 bag from them at their online store. They would not let me buy it because I had never been inside the store. So I decided to go online and found a $99 fake that looks exactly like it. I saved $6,900 because they made it so hard to buy a bag.
I was in the Monaco store, and ask for a red bag, the sales man showed up with 7 in different shapes and models, the money is not an issue, is about the emotion, omg!
Completely agree Dacob. My zeal for luxury took a big hit last year. I have most of the things I wanted, vintage not new, and I felt satisfied with that. I love the things I have and use them without hesitation because they are vintage items and were made to be used and to last a long time as long as I take care of them, not baby them. My love of luxury, other than a pair of shoes here or there, is limited to watching your videos.
I was looking in the window the other day and the security guard asked me to come in so literally the same story! I went in and picked up the mini 22 and asked how much it was and it was over $9k Australian I thought you have to be kidding!!! I would never pay that in a million years
F*** Chanel! I’m completely done with this brand. With the multiple price increases and quality issues I know that owing a CC bag is out of my range. I was however willing to pay over $800 Canadian for a pouch. Crazy when my Coach Empire bag cost less than that. I figured this may be the only Chanel bag/slg that I will own so let me do this now. Well to find out today that Chanel does not provide payment links and their fashion products other than sunglasses are not available for purchase online…only in store. The closest store to me is two hours away. So I’m officially done with this brand including makeup and perfume.
I think we are all more concerned with paying just to live rather than giving the rich more money to be rich with. I don’t think it helped the industry to find out how much Dior spent on bag production - it’s all a big FOMO scam ! Xx
I never was into Chanel until Karl Lagerfeld became the designer. When he passed away, I lost interest again. I’m not surprised their quality is not there. There are other designers that provide the style, design, and quality. Some are up and coming designers.
Went to Chanel a few times in the past few months on Rodeo Dr. Yes they have dozens of bags lingering around in the cabinet that are not selling. Also there was a bag that I liked a lot however the material liner inside the bag looked cheap, the clasp was weird and the pull through and looked tarnished and leaned to one side. Looked sewn incorrectly. Staff was weird about letting you look around upstairs and and the sales associate kept trying to push bags on me that I had no interest in yet the bag I liked he didn't want to give me information on ( a display 22 on the upper level in Flamingo Pink). Weird vibes in that store. I bought a Chanel 22, a Cruise tote a continental wallet, Chanel loafers and 4 pairs of sunglasses last year probably around 25K-30K last year. I am not buying any more Chanel. Quality and exclusivity is no longer there.
The new season show was very not wonderful...the worst was the front double slit skirts and the bunched up (because of poor tailoring" waists in the jackets.....and the cheap looking sheer fabric on some of the summer casual "shorts" outfit...quiet a mess all along the show
A friend of mine who was visiting Canada recently posted a video on how “Chanel quality sucks”, and indeed the wallet she had purchased there was “imperfect” piling, holes don’t align, etc. For the prices they are charging, it’s unacceptable.
The scam is over. Playing their customers as fools while milking aspirational customers of money they can’t afford. The world is getting tougher and rampant consumerism is over. War, disease, economic hardships make all the luxury games seems trivial and mean.
They raised the prices too high, too fast. Just like an over-priced house that sits on the market forever. They are kind of stuck. It breaks my heart. One of my goals in life was getting a classic flap because it is iconic Coco and Paris and Lagerfeld. I still treasure it, but at $8800, ugh.
Something or someone has changed within the company for them to compromise the quality and integrity of their products. They need to please the quality customer.....and shortcuts is not the answer. Have they underestimated us?
Losing passion for a brand is normal , it happens a lot , specially if said brand hasn’t evolved in terms on quality or innovation , or at least maintaining quality ( something that is non existent nowadays ). I believe we as consumer should be loyal only to quality , not the brand itself, sure you can love a fashion house because of its history heritage etc but one thing is what that fashion brand used to be, and what it is now in the present.
The magic is gone, but more than anything, it feels like disrespect. The lack of service, the declining quality, and the ever increasing prices in the face of a declining economy makes the aspiring clientele feel unwanted and even makes their wealthier clientele feel like idiots for buying this crap. Their constant profit seeking is ruining the brand and Chanel’s legacy.
All Brands are Names so in many ways they are empty vessels whose meaning can change from time to time. For me Chanel is now a clothes maker favored by tourists from a certain nation and that’s about it…
Hi i will tell you my story ..Probably 10 years ago when The boy chanel flap was so in we when to chanel to see one my husband wanted to buy me one he liked a look ..we when in she show us a burgundy color he was saying how nice it’s look but we open it and i felt i exactly tell you what i said what to hell this bag it’s feel so cheap so bad made coach bag make better quality..i opens look like a box just hade some cheap material on top ..i told him you know what i don’t want it i don’t feel like paying so much money for nothing only for a label i expect more from brands ..i buy luxury clothes but i buy material not a brand label ..And that different people are focusing on label and they missing a quality if is a clothing or bags or shoes ..And now people are buys to impress..i don’t want to impress and be a slave of this big billion dollars company puppet..if you want to impress i feel we can do differently with our individually and that why i just don’t choose this trend even if i can buy we financially comfortable..that my feelings and i’m so glad people are stop following and brainwashed..
I know someone with an authentic Chanel, who has put it in storage because when they would take it out, others would ask them if it was a fake. So rude!
What sustainability when they go on to burn every single hand bag and clothes not sold at those crazy high prices. The high end luxury industry is one of the biggest pollutants out there. Next!!!
They didn’t want the “aspiring customers”, now we don’t want them. I think we have all opened our eyes to corporate greed and corruption and we deserve better than that.

💯⬆️
I started feeling this way and that's why I've put my Chanel down and prefer my Tory bags more. I love everything Tory.
I’ve been seeing this more with Hermes. The birkin and Kelly and Constance are now basic bags. The level of vulgarity turns me off from items I used to love. Makes me want to trash my items.
Agreed!! Very well said 👏👏👏
People are getting smarter. Paying $5,000+ for a bag was NEVER justifiable, but because of brand reputation, quality, and pursuit of status symbols, people continued to buy. But now that we're in a time of lack, status symbols aren't the flex that they once was, especially when quality across the board has seen significant decline. Plain and simply put: people are thinking critically.
most people could only justify it with 'resale value' which TANKED because like tulip fever, everyone had the same idea
Hopefully fashionphile takes a hit because their prices are outrageous for preloved goods.
it was Karl Lagerfeld that keep chanel somewhat interesting .they died when Karl died.
I feel the same about Fendi, he was a genius
@soahdoll we also lost Oscar De La Renta, and Yves Saint Laurent in the 2000s to 2010s decade. Hollywood put Dolce and Gabanna, Versace , Roberto Cavalli, and a few other names on the red carpet map. However, Hollywood, especially the red carpets, are not hot anymore. The magic, imo is gone. Just my observation and thoughts.
@sosahdoll Yes , very true.

Yes, that fast fashion luxury looks like the end of these big luxury labels, especially those under LVMH.
@@AnUrbanGypsy I want to copycat that boss of yours! What a wonderful idea! I’m sure she was a stunning fashionista too! 🥰

Very informative. thanks for sharing.

That nothingness you are experiencing with Chanel is from being taken advantage of and not getting the value of what you are paying. I think we are all waking up to how greedy these companies have become (thank you Dior), the executives had to get their gross bonuses.
I find the luxury shops super calm at the moment i definitely notice a difference!

You’re right Dacob. And the (lack of) quality is real. I returned a pair of ballet flats with the turn locks because of two concerns: 1) wouldn’t break in 2) the hardware would be faulty. And the next time I get a Chanel bag, it will be preloved.

Completely agree Dacob. My zeal for luxury took a big hit last year. I have most of the things I wanted, vintage not new, and I felt satisfied with that.

I feel sad for Chanel when Karl passed on. I feel sadder when Virginie left and when the management becomes so bad. The elegant Chanel is gone.
