The capucine and the picotin are very hard to sell with poor resale value examples.. I come to the conclusion that we should not expect to sell a bag as easily as when we were to buy them. Just buy and enjoy using them
I think it’s a combination of a few things. 1. Dior is not particularly popular at the moment due to workplace issues. 2. the colour is not mass appeal - if black wound be more popular. 3. the quiet luxury trend: the CD logo is very big. Just my thoughts. Sadly I think it’s a case of sitting it out with this bag. I enjoy your channel - you always discuss interesting topics.
I remember back when we’d seen TH-cam influencers having the ability to easily sale their handbags to the public and now it looks like those days are over due to the resale stores. That’s why I never bought a bag for its resale value. Just buy what you like and would keep wearing ❤
I have sold many luxury bags on eBay since before the pandemic. The market has significantly slowed down in the last couple years. The only brands that sell quickly thatI am able to make my money back on or profit on are Goyard and Chanel (I don’t own Hermes). I have a few bags that I no longer love and could do without, but I refuse to lose over $500 on selling them so I’ll use them and save them for my daughter who may one day appreciate vintage bags!
My mom always said beauty is not about price. The existence of luxrul makes me believe that true luxury is the expression of one's own style, not the price tag. Here, I found the best explanation of this sentence
The medium Caro is my favourite bag. The fact not everyone has one, or wants one, makes me like it even more. It's a really well made bag, and, in my opinion, whilst it may not be anywhere near an "it" bag, it is a timeless design that I'll get use from long in to the future. Its lack of popularity should hopefully mean it doesn't date too badly.
@@Wildunfiltered you got me interested in this bag! When I saw in person though, I did realize the small was way too small for me so I ordered a medium. They accidentally sent me a large, but I ended up keeping it because it was actually liked it and it’s nice to have a flap bag and not need to selectively puzzle my items in it. That being said, I don’t own a jumbo classic flap as you do, so I understand the medium gap.
It’s a beautiful bag. I think “what’s hot” and “what’s not” is constantly changing. It will sell when it’s meant to. In the meantime enjoy it. It’s beautiful.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the *suluxy* leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
It might be because dior and fendi have outlet stores. Chanel and Hermes don’t. That’s the only thing I could think of. Because like you said that Dior leather is very nice.
Not a fan of that bag. I think its the big CD that putting people off not to buy it.also for the price, people will buy lady dior instead of caro bag. Its a trendy bag that is not popular already. The secret to sell trendy bag is to sell when its still at their pick of popularity.
I’m in the USA and the caro bag is always at the Dior outlet. When I ask SA for bag updates for outlet it’s always various Caro. I think this must affect it being seen as a classic bag and can make resale hard. I’ve seen it at UK outlet also so worth checking what the price is there. 😢
I LOVE that Dior bag! It is harder to wear with the gold chain than the Chanel is. The leather on Dior is SO nice though. Personally I love that size bag.
Such a good discussion thanks for sharing. Supply and demand plus marketing - not to mention public perception. I like the Caro bag a lot but the logo is a bit much for me.
to answer your question, its all about public perception not with quality. its honestly sickening that LV Chanel and Hermes purely on their fake artificial scarcity gets away with absurd resale prices that dont offer any significantly better quality for that money. ALL luxury brands use machine stitching in one way or another and get away with huge markups solely on marketing and artificial scarcity.
I’ve adored the Caro bag since I first saw one! It’s just out of my budget. I don’t want a Chanel CF- I want a Dior Caro! Altho both aren’t in budget, haha.
I fell in love with this bag but in a colour called peony and i so wish i got it at the time as i cant find it in the resale market. Very beautiful colour you have tho
I do wonder the same thing, I don’t think twice about an LV but other brands I do, like my new fendi I know that won’t hold value but it didn’t matter I loved it ! I just think it’s a shame that the Vestiaire buyer lost out on probably a bargain! ❤
Dior bags in this condition hardly ever show up pre-loved where I live! We don't have any Dior outlets ,maybe that is why Dior here is more expensive pre-loved and less conditons I love your bag!
It’s all so inexplicable isn’t it! I have made a few peekaboo mistakes and have tried to sell two brand new unused. Could only sell one in pristine unused condition and it was well below half price, so far below half price it’s embarrassing to admit. I have had other experiences though with Dior I sold one clutch ten years after I bought it for the same price I bought it! Three Chanel classic flaps unused in pristine condition I cannot sell for even a third of what I paid. There is just no explaining it and prices bounce around so randomly. Expensive lessons learned. I now buy and assume resale is $0 it’s the only safe way to make a choice. I never would and never did buy for resale but I suppose I felt more secure that if it didn’t work for me I could get some return and cut the loss but that is not at all guaranteed or even probable. Good luck but doesn’t look like you will sell that bag best put it away and try again when it’s ‘vintage’
I find the Dior Caro a beautiful and functional bag and the color you have is supposed to work for just about anybody. I think most people navigate towards the tried and true classics of a brand e.g Lady Dior for Dior and with resale being a bit more challenging this year than the past two years, people are being cautious as to buying new releases. I was going to buy a Caro but people kept saying that Dior is notorious for discontinuing releases. But your choice is very classy and elegant.
I bought a Miss mini Dior with quilting and holographic silver shine. It's beautiful but I also dislike it due to the inner separation making an already small bag a lot less roomy. I've tried sell it but people low ball me and I might just keep it.
I absolutely love that bag! I love the color also. I don’t know the price though. If it’s close to the lady Dior, well I would rather have the lady Dior. Good luck whatever you decide.
I love the Dior Caro. I was planning to buy one during my recent Japan trip, it is cheaper to buy in Japan than here in Australia. But I ended up buying a completely different bag instead. If I was still going to buy one, I would have preferred a black Caro. I think the black with the gold hardware could have last longer in styling.
I just think it’s the fact that it’s a Dior bag and the bad press it’s received recently has tainted the pre loved market. Personally I think your Caro bag is stunning, I’ve just bought a handmade leather chesterfield sofa and chair that has cost the price of a small country other would have been interested. I’d hold on to it if I were you x
If people can decide to buy Balenciaga again, they will definitely not swear off Dior in my humble opinion. It is the Caro bag. It is not popular. It is also about the color. Black bags mostly sell more easily. Also, I think the brand having outlets is another reason their bags don’t hold their value in general.
I agree, it'll probably blow over in people's minds (as with Balenciaga), but it'll take time. That being said, the Italian situation is probably only part of the issue. All the things people have said will contribute to the lack of interest.
Personally, back in the day (16years or so), I don’t think it was the marketing. I have been buying luxury for over 15 years, my favorite brand is Chanel (special place in my heart) , and I don’t ever remember, that there was a special advertisement or campaign for the caviar minis back then. They were certain bags, that would just be popular and they were hard to get. I think that after people starting realizing how amazing the minis in caviar specifically were, then Chanel also realized that they had to make them more desirable. Now, every time something mini (like the top handle) comes in caviar, ppl already know they will be hard to get and they go crazy to get one. As per the Caro bag, it is a beautiful made bag and has lots of detail, but …it is Dior and for its high price tag, you can probably get something cooler at lets say Chanel🤷🏼♀️.
People take Care of their Money more than years ago. And because there are a Lot of People selling for shit prices (because the spend too much and Need the Money fast), they assume to get a Great deal from everyone. Today you cant Sell bags Like This without a big loss. So Wear it and Sell for less in Future in Not prestine condition. Thats it.
the issue with dior is availability and price. it’s overpriced and too available. it’s not like that with chanel and hermes for many of their models - either priced well, or unavailable, but seldom are sought after prices both. i can’t sell my lady dior either even though it is a wonderful bag that i grew out of. i will never buy another dior bag from store. if i want one it will be resale at half the retail price.
As a buyer I'll give an opinion for what it's worth... To me, there is no comparison between your Chanel mini and the Dior mini- except that they are mini's. Other than that, the logo, hardware, color and pattern are very different. The Dior's gold looks orangish which makes the bags color appear more greenish on camera, rather than Slate. So people wont reach for green-ish as they would black. Then the patterns, the Dior is busier than the basic diamond Chanel. Plus, the flap is much larger on Dior. My suggestion is to not expect the bag to sale fast, it has to be the right person (and they will come along as mini Dior's have their lovers). Also, see if you can use a polish to tone down that gold to a lighter yellow. Light gold and slate are a gorgeous mix. And brighten the lighting a bit to showcase the slate color.
Hello, I’m looking to buy a Caro bag. Please tell me your selling price? I’m from Canada. My name is Anne I watch your TH-cam all the time. Thank you very much
Is it a small or medium? I am very interested. Can I please get an honest price of what you’d like for it? I’m not so much into what everyone else wants. Please let me know.
Ok I saw that you said it is the small size, I will look that up. I know how you care for yours though so please let me know. I’m looking for different colors. I just picked up a Versace flap with silver hardware and I’m using it daily at a fraction of the price! I too tend to like a bag at least 10”. But do let me know. I do not care for Vestiaire. I loved Tradesy but not them! That is utterly ridiculous!
Most Dior bags do hold their value. I only buy them if I’m 1000% sure I love it and do not foresee selling it. Fendi is another brand that don’t hold value.
I have no real idea why some bags and not others…but I wonder if the answer can be found within your own habit? You said you love the Caro Bag, yet ever since you got the Chanel you always reach for that bag instead. Every time. Why, though? Because you like it better, even though they are similar. But why do you like it better? Maybe it’s the colour, the discreet logo, the prestige, the perceived quality, it looks better, sits better, maybe all of the above. If you think about why you reach for the Chanel over the Dior every time, it might very well be the same reason/s that people generally prefer to purchase a Chanel over a Dior. I still don’t know the answer, just thinking out loud 🤔

I love the cd but I get it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. X
*suluxy* almost identical, i couldn´t see the difference until you said which one was replica & authentic. Anyway thanks for sharing.
This is exactly the reason why I did not buy the Caro bag, the logo is not proportional to the rest of the bag.
I’m in the USA and the caro bag is always at the Dior outlet. When I ask SA for bag updates for outlet it’s always various Caro.
I think this must affect it being seen as a classic bag and can make resale hard. I’ve seen it at UK outlet also so worth checking what the price is there. 😢
Very true!
Wish we had a Dior outlet in Colorado.
I have that Caro same as your in slate gray and small. Super loving it!:)
It’s so beautiful. I just wish I had gone for the medium size

What are u even saying Dior is owned by LVMH. Dior bags are just ugly
🤔
You owned Hermes?
Hermes does not use machine stitching.
It's a lovely bag but if it's not selling, then you're price is wrong.
Or the timing is wrong. For now I will keep it x
I have two medium Caro bags, and I believe they are more user friendly than my Chanel medium classic. IMO.
I wish I had bought the medium!!!

I think it is also the design. The Caro bag is not to everyone's liking, while the Chanel CF or Mini is usually liked by most.
🤔
I fell in love with this bag but in a colour called peony and i so wish i got it at the time as i cant find it in the resale market. Very beautiful colour you have tho

I still love it. X

Great video as always. & I miss the George Michael portrait in the background.
Me too
Aw. I swapped round my filming space and now he’s in front of me. So I get to see him. I wasn’t sure anyone would miss him.

My humble opinion: Dior doesn’t hold its price and this bag to me although beautiful, is not a classic. If the price is right people will buy it.
Yep everything sells for the right price. X
You're not taking inflation into account. £100 in 2004 is worth £192.41 in 2024.

She doesn’t like it either x
I’m sorry but you’ve got bad taste in term of color. I wouldn’t buy any of your bags. Grey, blue, purple…. Eek
Oh dear. I don’t think there is such a thing as bad taste - I’ve just got different taste to yours.
