    I was walking by a Chanel store at Saks yesterday and the SA pulled me in, opened a huge cabinet with about 50 different bags and asked me to choose whatever I wanted. She was almost begging, something I have never seen at Chanel. A small classic flap was over 10k. She said sales were down because of the multiple price increases this year and they weren't making commission like they used to. Many bags she showed me were scratched and I simply wasn't interesting in buying any that day, especially not at those prices. I had bought one of my classic flaps from that exact store for under 3k a few years ago. Why would I pay triple now?

    They are not looking for a designer, they are looking for a potential scapegoat to put all blame from Leena Nair's amazing management

    We cannot rule out the possibility that he will choose a Korean, Chinese or Japanese designer. Europe is no longer the priority because the average economic level of Europeans has dropped and we cannot constantly buy these luxury brands, so the Asian market is the priority, even though they are in crisis in China too.

    Honestly, wouldn't be surprised if they try to put a Kardashian as creative director to try to get the younger people to buy into their hype. Because that is what Corporation-like companies do. Some Creative Director that may not have talent, but is famous and brings their name. In all seriousness though, they are going to try to put someone ambitious and young, which means they can manipulate them using carrots and salary into doing exactly what they want, and propel the company to public trade or to be sold into a larger company such as LVMH.
    The issue is that while Virginie was authentic to the legitimate Chanel brand, because her designs were not avant garde like the current fashion favorites are; and because she is a woman and the moment is to view females as problematic in all areas, it was against her. Misogyny in full swing is happening even in the fashion industry, and plenty of people that work in it do see it.
    Well anyway, on the actual point. When the Chanel owners brought in Pepsi's CEO, the writing on the wall was there. You do not hire someone that has in their resume overhaul and G.E CEO skillset to just have Chanel as is. They hired her, because they were already seeing their revenue dip as their quality did. So they needed to bring in someone that would make significant changes in the backend, while interfacing with companies, social media, finance firms and the market that the company was doing far better. And in essence adjust the books (I say cook them because many of them use shady tactics to get there) so that the companies loo far more profitable than they are, so that a larger company such as LVMH, Loreal, etc could then buy into the company. Thereby, the owners can liquidate their worth, may even continue to have stake in the company but basically they cash out before the shit subsequently can hit the fan. Their problem? Lagerfeld died, and in the fashion world a woman that does homage to Chanel's catalog isn't the namesake needed to bring in customers in because times have changed, people aren't following brands for their heritage and their history. They follow because it's just about prestige and being able to show your neighbor that you were able to afford their bag, their outfit, and their makeup. So Virginie would have been a great choice 40 years ago or even 20, but not now. Not with the current targeted generation. On top of that, Virginie was too invested in the company through the decades she worked. Thus, she would not easily listen to an outsider that had no respect for the history, the quality, and the worksmanship of the company's original workforce. That made it what it was. So she had to go.
    Nair is the leader, and no one else. That is the problem with Chanel now. Things would be different, if they had hired a different style of CEO.

    I’m so not getting why Mr Pavlovsky would choose to speak out publicly the way he does. I mean, doesn’t he realize that everything he says just makes him and CHANEL just look more unappealing and dislikable?
    At this point, I think that Brüno (the character played by Sacha Baron Cohen) tells us way more meaningful and serious things than CHANEL’s Bruno.
    I’m so sad to see the brand lose more and more of its splendor. This is so not what I wish for CHANEL to happen.

      Chanel was never about fashion. They never really followed fashion. They tended to be of a mindset of you do your own thing, and you make your own fashion that is still above everything else, comfortable for the woman.
      Galliano has the fashion, and the aesthetic. I am not sure that he has the comfortable for the woman there.
      What did Coco Chanel go against? Corsets, restrictive fashion that made women uncomfortable.

      @@undomiel152003 vibe! If they're going to dive into the pits of hell than why not go down corsetted?? Lolol I just need them to wake up fashion wise if they won't change their morals

    • @undomiel152003
      @undomiel152003 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ratedrachel3670 If they do, then the brand is like any other brand and it stops being Chanel. There are aesthetic elements that are found in all fashion houses that are older than 20 years that have continued for the most part. YSL is one for instance.
      If we want to talk about morals, then we should talk about Chanel herself and the 40s then.... That by the way is a large reason some are not buying into Chanel now. Beyond the quality etc.

    Why pick on Chanel? The whole industry is immoral. Dior bags made for $50/$60 dollars and sold for thousands or did we already forget that? If anyone is immoral it’s the people who buy and support these companies while knowing that they all behave in this way. This is nothing but selective outrage.

    • @SuperDacob
      @SuperDacob  หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Your viewership is nothing but selective keyboard warrior-ing away. Wasting your energy and time in all the wrong places (I have made many videos on this topic too and you fall right into that exact profile). Go fix your life outside where it really matters. As for me, if you only really cared to know or had the intelligence to learn, you would see that I keep raising awareness about these topics daily and was the first on YT to have covered the Dior scandal with the outsourcing of production into alleged sweatshops and have kept repeating it many times and still keep repeating it so no, we here have not forgotten. You however have no clue so maybe question yourself first before you cast that silly biblical stone. So buckle up potato chip, sit down, zip it and learn a thing or two before you babble away again. Wugo wugo and see you next time.
