Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Campaign - 2.1 El Cid: Brother against Brother
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 3 ธ.ค. 2024
- Spain is divided between Christian kingdoms to the north and Moorish kingdoms to the south. In the barren borderlands of Castille, Rodrigo Díaz, called El Cid, gains notoriety as a brilliant general and heroic crusader. The Cid is so popular among soldiers and peasants alike that the distrustful King of Castille sends him into exile. The Cid must join forces with his former enemies, the Moors, and fight against his beloved Castille. But an even greather threat awaits across the sea in Africa, where fanatical Berber horsemen are eager to seize what the Moors could not.

"Our homes are yours El Cid" - Those poor villagers that just got kicked out of their house because some guy with a horse walked past.
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Historically accurate
7:05 "I predict that this campaign will be dominated by Conquistadors"
Little did TheViper know about missions 3+4 of this campaign.
El cid is the best campaign in the game imo, so well made
Especially all the characters they make, with count berenger being one of my favorite opponents
Zhekca it even has godtier voice acting
Over glorified history tho, when I was a kid I used to seriously worship El Cid due to this campaign until I learnt Spanish history
@@joanofarc9793 I remember i had some great grades back in school because of my age of empires background ^^ Most of the campaign videos are based on real history facts. Of course there is some glorification due to perspective of his wife. :)
@@joanofarc9793 The campaign is based on a medieval epic based on him. The epic is very good, but it only has some semblance to reality.
small thing about those monks you found. if you get there quick enough, they have 4 relics
Actually no! That only happens in Standard! In Hard, they have NONE! I played that campaign myself!
They do, but in HD King Alfonso's monks steal the relics somewhere in the beginning. I was curious about those relics as well, so I used cheats to check this.
MALEMization are you sure? I just checked and they still have them on hard. good old Marco polo after 2 seconds of game time still shows them in there positions. just Alfonso monks are bloody quick
It depend on how fast You reach that place.
If i remember correctly before I started HD edition, there was 6 relics in standard, but you gotta reach that monastery hella fast.
"El Cid must survive" - Shit!
Viper, I welcome you to the El Cid campaign where in each and every mission, "El Cid must survive".
Going to enjoy how Viper plays this campaign out with plenty of ,"Oh NoOoOos".
meta1gear4 ay ay ay!
"if the cid dies l'll be really embarassed"
*lets the cid fight enemies under castle fire for an entire minute*
I wouldn't be surprised if they made him keep Cid alive even if Cid dies... *winks*
Uzii Technically he is dead, but he is still a unit in the mission. With HP .
15:37
Viper: "So we'll see.. we'll see what happens."
Conquistador: "See?"
I used to always make my base on those snowy lands behind the bridge and wait for alfonso to eventually chop through, I was like ten years old back when I first played this so I had the time :p
I love El Cid, I love his campaign. Even his civ Spanish is also my favorite
Ok guys, until the end of the Campaign, all laughter should be written as follows: JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA!
Lmao!
Have you noticed yet that in all the Kings campaigns there was only one voice actor that did all of them but in the Conquerors they actually hired multiple voice actors?
Kazoogle Koogle Really? Wow, I played them a million times and never noticed...
He just did all the different accents lmao
Alexis Mijatovic ohhh! 😲
I always sneaked in from behind, once the woodcutters opened up a path.
Hope Biper doesn't get too attached to the Spanish and their Conquistadors.
5:16
"Look at this micro"
XD
at the beginning in the tournament, if you don't take the horse you will still be able to defeat the knight and get the horse after the fight, it will heal you up completely, other than that I don't think there is much of a difference, iirc
Oh really? I always thought you have to take the horse in order to continue.
yes, you just have to stand around the square in the middle for like 10 seconds
Finally my favorite campaign! Enjoy Viper!
Yes... yes... yes... ok....
6:10 😂 Will always get me.
Nice that I've finally caught up to Viper stream of campaign videos when I started watching about a week or two ago, just in tie for El Cid. Keep up the good work!
Before you hit castle age they have 0 rss and can only use the units they get spawned in for them over time, which is why they were trickling in. upon reaching castle, they get a large tribute from gaia and thus start training units. They also cant train new vills, so when you killed all their vills you made it much easier to win.
El Cid is probably my favourite campaign. The voice acting here is very well done.
6:52 - "I'll go both ways". Hmmm..ok.
Sound is always fine, you should really stop worrying so much about it
Sound is ok, good to have this series more often
New Campaign :) Ohh yeah. Let's hope for another 6 great episodes :)
These are so much better than the Forgotten Empires campaigns.
I don't know, why they never fixed blue's siege workshop. every time i played this, there were tons of scorpions literally inside the siege workshop and blue never used them to attack.
I love u when say "Rodrigo diaz , called El Cid" , HI FROM SPAIN!
I love how on differed difficulty settings in the Conquerors Campaigns make changes to the level, for example, in this video there would be some relics next to the monks, and on other levels there would something like minecamps already placed or you start with a castle
There's still relics in hard. But while Viper did the speed up, Blue monks took them. That's why there were 5 relics at the end in blue's monastery.
Concerning the audio: I don't know if I'm alone, but I'd like if you turned up the music so that you actually can hear it. This game has an amazing soundtrack, and whenever I watch games on Voobly I usually open another tab with the soundtrack on youtube for the atmosphere.
I mean I guess I could do that on these scenarios as well, but... You asked...
I noticed that since the 4.0 HD patch, cutscenes' sketched lines do not smoothly disappear. Also in-game lines sometimes don't finish, such as when Sancho tells El Cid to capture Alfonso.
Viper is in Spain? Should have said "search for Memb."
4:44 Seville wasn't even part of Castille during the time this takes place around 1070s ad
Oh boy! I can't wait for the final mission!
game sound is perfect
This the best made campaign in AoE EVER_period
16:10 That swordsmen got annihilated lol
@26:00 "this water probably goes somewhere" isn't that the atlantic ocean? it definitely goes "somewhere"
Leon does not border the ocean to the west, there are Portugal and Galicia in the way. Also, Golpejera is quite a ways inland (not that that would stop them, look where they placed Milan in Attila 6!). Still, since this is such a localized scenario, compared to Attila's march through Italy, this is probably not supposed to be the ocean.
Jay the El Cid campaign! It's probably my favourite one out of all the campaigns. :)
so fun fact about this mission and my childhood: i never knew in my childhood that you could and should build a base and get reinforcements.
the army they give youa t the start was always enough to rush the castle lol.
This mission is one of my best childhood memories from AoE
Man, El Cid campaign already?? What a progress
he is defeated in the end and the Almoravid empire (Now kingdom of Morroco) lasted 400 years later
4:09 Maybe the KI tries to garrison him into the castle, but there is a trigger that holds him in place.
Any 1600 HD player can win these scenarios on hard difficulty while parking their hero in a Castle, but it takes a true champion to win while running the hero in before anything else and make it work out... most of the time
Hey viper l was wondering, are you gonna do the battles of the conquerors in one go or are you gonna skip them ?
He said in the end of the Barbarossa campaign he will do EVERYTHING!
"Everything?"
"EVERYTHING!"
Kudos to whoever gets the reference I made!
He said he would be doing all of the scenarios
cem yilmaz reference? :D
Community
Explain the reference?
Trial by Combat! Not only in GOT people
I remember trying not to fight the Champion/Knight and finding out that everything Sancho owns gets 1000/2000 bonus damage
For once Viper doesn't upload at my bedtime lol
lol what's your country?
maistromann Guessing from this Europe like me
Sweden, the enemy of Norway
The German Sancho sounds more enthusiastic in the voice over ^^
"El Cid Must survive... shit!"
El Cid is in my opinion, the best campaign :3 I enjoyed the story so much. Made me read a few books on the legend.
"It is I, Ximena Diaz!!"
Dear Biper, please do these slightly more frequent. They are without doubt one of the best ways to make time go by
Voy, presto, ahora, degrado, Santiago, guerra, talar, cultivar, construir...
It's weird watch an English gameplay about El Cid a Spain campaign when I played this in Spanish but at the same time it's fun because in English they don't change the names but in Spanish some of them are changed
I believe the king running back and forth in the beginning of the scenario is due to a conflict between the AI of that player (King Sancho) and a trigger placed on the ground. The AI tries to protect the king by moving it to safety within a castle while the trigger tries to make the king stand ground so it does not dissapear.
After the initial couple of quests have been finished, the trigger that tries to keep the king in places is dissabled, allowing the AI to finally garrison the king inside the nearby castle.
"WHAT SCOUTS?" - The Viper
1:36 this music's starts is very good.
King Sancho: My champions will now attempt to kill you
(El Cid fights)
King Sancho: I am glad you won, I would not trust another man with my army
wtfffffffffff................
some AoE2 logic right there...
10/10 tournament micro
Viper man you're hilarious.
Yeah, Rodrigo's like this. jajaja
El Cid lived in the 11th century but they give you conquistadors lol
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conquistador
Bro missing my childhood memories
The one campaign where you play as two civilizations - Spanish and Saracen
This one is really interesting. Maybe its just the spanish accent
My man rodrigon el cid
11 11 @06:04 Well Viper, I want to inform you that Age of Empires
Hey Viper, when you get to the Battles of the Conquerors part, you should play them in order of the years that are dated, just in case you don't know where to start.
YUO FOUND THE SECRET PASAGE TO THE CASTLE, IN TIME VILLAGERS OVERCHOP AND YOU ENTER RIGHT FROM THE BACK OF BLUE'S BASE!!!
I was watching it at the moment
YES
You are the god of age of empires
At such prices I think it's worth it to just stop mining gold, put villagers on food instead and sell.
I can't believe you didn't take advantage of the Spanish team bonus
I can't even hear the game sounds when you play, maybe you should change the sound in the Windows sound volume manager.
Wouldn't say I cant hear the sounds, but they are definitely a lot lower than his voice yeah
I think he should probably lower the volume on his headphone. I think that might be the problem.
I agree. Scorpions are so Loud.
😂😂😂😂
this is going to be until Rise of the Rajas Campaings?
Ao2 arrivel concept of John arc
Wat a fun player😁👍👍👍👍
you are the best 😘
how to speed up in aoe2..?
i think it is + and - buttons
you can choice fight the knight on foot. you will get the horse anyway
They should keep the voices on the Definitive edition
If only the Definitive Edition had the option to switch to the original voice actors.
I'm here.
Dude you can choose to fight the knight without a horse and will be more worth it
Lol, I think I'm finally not scared of 1v1ing TheViper
He's #clearly a noob
Imo this campaign is very outdated at this point, not horrible but very simple and straightforward
moops
Tell us how to speed it up?
The plus and minus buttons in between backspace and 0
+
You know, in this particular instance, conversation doesn’t make sense since they’re both Christian 😆
If he gets to it, I hope that theViper loses to the first Vietnam campaign. Ive tried that campaign on moderate and have lost 4 times. It might be that I suck tho...
The Viper to every player in the game: "I got better stats than you man"
Tours
but in the later chapter, it is no longer using spain. :(
Police
i think you should say "conquistadores" instead of "conquistadors" lmao
I am little sceptical... that .. this is your first time.. playing this campaign...when you said ..will the peasants switch colors... When raiding a town on the outskirts of the city
what the hell I'm early
LAST
Not anymore
Foiled again #clearly #ohno
YOU HAVE BEEN FOILED
1st like!
@TheViper Pro tip : "J" in spanish is pronounced like "R".
"H"
Meh, to english ears anyway :
What? Are you saying that José doesn't sound like Hose?
Im brazilian, by the way.
Cris Morelli Must be my way of interpretating the aspired H in english, then. I know it's the sound you make when reading the further back of the mouth. I guess it sounds more like an R than an H to my ears (mother language 's French, but Spanish father).
A French "R", or an English "H", or a German "CH"
I love your videos, Viper, but I have one point of criticism: Why do you pretend like you've never played the campaign before? There are moments when you *know* exactly what is going to happen yet you try to sound confused or unsure. It sounds disingenuous and takes away from the experience (for me). I know for the purposes of the video you cannot play like you already know what is going to happen, but since you actually do, I suggest not trying to hide that in your logic.
Or comment partially on your logic while avoiding some aspects that you've realized post game. For instance: when you chose El Cid's horse. The false confusion, along with ultimately using the scenario-editor logic, was something I didn't like. You sound best, in my view, when you're firm or trolling. You being confused, especially when it's not real, is something I don't like watching.
I have never played through the campaigns before. I did play the William Wallace one when I was like 10 that I remember, but don't remember playing anything else than that.
I have spent a lot of time in the scenario editor with my brother before. When I was playing scenarios we were making maps and scenarios for fun, which is why I know about a lot of heroes and recognize them from the scenario editor. I thought I recognized a hero from an earlier Campaign, but I was mistaken then. The El Cid on horse was one I clearly remembered though.
My bad!
I can vouch for Viper not playing the Campaign: Remember when he made a fool out of himself during the Attila Campaign chapter 1 with the Horses/Scouts/Knights shenanigans?! That's enough proof!
