Lily of the Valley or Wild Garlic? How to tell the difference…

When picking wild garlic/ ramsons (Allium ursinum) it’s important to be able to tell the difference from lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis) which is deadly poisonous

Interesting. Wild garlic in my area is not broad leafed. I do have Lily of the Valley. I grow it specifically because it is my birth flower, May. Love the scent. Hello from sunny Oregon, US.

Common names can be used for different plants in different countries or even villages.
The wild garlic in this video is Allium ursinum, native to Europe.
Wild garlic in Oregon is probably Allium vineale, a highly invasive species from Europe. Best to remove as much as you can.
Do check first if it isn't a native species though, wild garlic is a common name used for many alliums with a garlicy taste.

@UKWILDCRAFTS a video idea could be making vinegars from foraged plants. I've been dehydrating different things then making random vinegars.

I heard to be careful that if you pick wild garlic and then touch Lily of the Valley you may transfer the scent on your hands from one to the other, and then mistakenly identify the latter as the former.
