You can eat it sooner, and it’s more like a garlicky green onion but still edible, and can be used to garnish food, you can also eat the curving leaf that will produce a flower to focus its energy in its bulb. You can eat it for most of its life span, if you want garlic from the store you need to grow it for 9 months and dry for like 2 weeks.
Garlic is delicious I've tried the taste before and I didn't realize it was good for the heart and now I realize it is because it keeps everyone healthy, and thank you Jesus Christ Amen

I’m guessing you found out the hard way that Garlic takes 8-9 months to grow.
I am doing the same thing. Day 4 in water. Hopefully, I will plant in soil soon.

Check your soila acidity its probability too low garlic grows in acidic soil best with a topping of fertilizer on the top soil

The leaves get heavy and bend.
They didn't bury the garlic far down enough so it had no support. Your supposed to plant garlic 5 inches deep inground, not right on the surface.
