I was a cashier for a summer and got a $2 bill once. My boss didn't know what to with it so I traded him my 2 singles for the 2. I still have it in my wallet years later.
I don't get the idea behind this. Most $2 bills aren't rare. Especially the ones most people spend. You can literally go to a bank and change out $5,000 for a bunch of $2 bills. You can buy rolls of uncut $2 bills from the treasuries website...What is the idea behind cashiers so desperately wanting a $2 bill? I suppose that's why they're just cashiers and not the managers.
People just don't see them too often, and rarely bother to go out of the way to exchange money at the bank for $2 bills. So like for me, I keep them like a collector's item whenever I receive one, even though I know they're common enough. It's just something different in life
I WAS ALSO A CASHIER..AND ONE DAY MY BOSS TOLD MI THAT I GOT A $20.00 DOLLAR BILL (FAKE)...SHE DID NOT KNOW THAT IN HAWAII..THE $20.00 GOT THE LOGO IN BIG LETTERS...HAWAII...IN THE BACK!! SHE WAS WRONG!!
When I worked in fast food I always put them in the farthest left slot and then used them as needed when I ran low on one $1 bills. Same with half dollar and one dollar coins.
There are five slots just like said this video so there's a slot for them in between the ones and fives if someone needs $3 in change you give them a $2 bill and a $1 bill
Here's a good topic for you to make a video on... businesses that use $2 bills regularly (like the magic shop), to make themselves stand out in the marketplace and make themselves memorable. It's a great, cheap, marketing ploy. I remember a strip club in Greenville, SC that gave $2 bills are charge after charging their cover to get in. I'll always remember that place.
Great idea, Paul. BUT... I already did one about businesses using $2 bills: th-cam.com/video/GqS-_JdA_L8/w-d-xo.html There's also a video on this channel which is a clip from the full film (also on this channel) about $2 bills in strip clubs. But I like the way you think! Any more good ideas? Send 'em my way! I'm sure you can come up with something that would be a good topic for a $2 bill video.
The reason why she got arrested (she didn't) is because the counterfeit pen didn't work on it so they thought it was counterfeit. Honestly the dumbest part about that story is not the fact that the police came it's that she spent it in the first place.
If you have a 5 note till you should have slots for 1, 2, 5, 10 & 20, the 50 & 100's can go underneath as you don't need quick access to them for change, they'll be going to the bank. If you only have a 4 note till then keep 1's & 2's together.
All the registers I've used as a cashier have had four slots. I put the $2s, $20s, $50s, and $100s, in that order, in the slot furthest to the left. Usually I exchange the $2 for two $1s since it makes tallying up the money for the shift report easier.
Love how you end your video with footage of $2 bills at the BEP! Sends a more clear message that: Yes, this is a real thing. $2 bills aren't rare. Spend them.
I have a two dollar bill that I got for the store, I will not spend it because It means so much to me. I also just got some for my family as 🎁 , can’t wait.

When I work at fast food and retail we use to put them in bottom of register. I always told my managers and supervisor I buy em at the end of my shift. Till this day I got multiple of stacks of 2 dollar bills I saved😁
A lot of people do that! I've heard the story many times. It adds to people work days, for sure. But you can just as easily go to the bank and get them instead of waiting for someone to spend one at your place of employment. They're not rare.
Here in Brazil, the banknote that had difficulty was the 1 real note, it stopped being produced in 2005 and after that it became very difficult to find it, currently the 1 real note is only accepted at the bank in Brazil to be exchanged, how cool is that? knowing that there is a 2 dollar bill, I have 10 1 dollar bills. I hope to have more when I travel. greetings from the state of Pará.
Daisy and Mario Dude: They are NOT rare! You can have a lucky one, but you can also go to the bank and get many more. They still make them and there are over 1.2 billion of them out there.
i work at 7/11 and we always put them in the farthest left slot and later in the day we drop them into the safe because we aren't really supposed to hand them out to customers as change. usually about once or twice a week a customer comes in to pay with a two dollar bill. if i'm working that day i like to exchange them for whatever cash i have cause i like collecting them
as a cashier, I always leave my 2nd slot out of the 5 for $2 bills. I love spending them, but I never recieve them. hopefully one day everyone will start using $2 bills as much as they do with $1 bills
I actually love using them. Only one time, though, did a cashier not have ones left in the drawer and asked me if it was okay to give me back a two in change.
I collected $2 bills for at least 20years, and wheat pennies too. Unfortunately they were all stolen from my home. Sometimes people suggest I try a bank to replace them but I feel silly, like it would be cheating in a way. I want them to cross my path by chance/good fortune.
My parents (NOT THE TOOTH FAIRY) gave me a $2 bill for the second tooth that I lost when I was 5 or 6 (I’m now 17). That is the only one I have ever received and I keep it in my wallet for safe keeping.
Ain't no way they were trained for being on register without knowing where 2s go. At Culver's, we have slots for 1,5,10, and 20, with all the basic coins being there as well. Where the 100's or 50's slot would be is coin refills. ANYTHING that isn't a coin or 1,5-20 goes underneath the monee holder. Coupons go there, 100s go there, and yes, the $2 will be under the monee.
Sounds like you're working on a register with just 4 cash slots. Most original registers had 5, and again, they were designed to have the two as one of the bills. But things changed over time, as did the need to make registers smaller (like yours). When that happened, the $2 was pushed out as a potential bill for a slot.
A couple years ago for my Dad’s Birthday we bought something at a Walgreens and they gave us a $2 and we gave that to my dad too and he still has it and will never spend it
We hear that kind of story a lot. People cherish the bill, and we think it's what makes it special. That said, the reason people like your Dad keep them and never spend them is because they mistakenly believe they are rare or not made anymore. Neither of those are the case. Still, it's a bill with a lot of nostalgia and sentiment to it.
I put 50s and 100s under the register, so I have an extra slot usually for extra coin rolls or 2$ if I get them. No point having the 50s and 100s in the register, never give them out as change and keeps them from robbing.
Correct! I hope you are using the $2 bills and not just tucking them away. I hope you also know that they're NOT rare. But cool that you get them and thanks for the comment.
When I was little that I had a few $2 bills but, I had a fear of the back of the bills so I gave them to my sister. I don’t remembered how many $2 bills that I gave her. My fear totally disappeared when I got older.
In Canada the two dollar is a coin and are cashes have extra coins slots for the .05, .1, .25, 1, 2. The penny and 50 cent are still excepted just are not in use anymore
Thanks for the reply! But, are there any american coins of similar size and color? (Idk because im from germany, and i have never seen any american golden coins exept the 1$ wich isnt really similar in size. ) Also, love these videos! They are really helpfull because no one here belives me when i tell them about 2$ bills.
According to my boss at the thrift shop I worked at the hundred dollar bills are supposed to go under the drawer so that if you're robbed they'll see you empty the register and leave without the hundreds
I had that problem as a retailer. I also tried to keep silver dollars and 50¢ pieces. Once had a customer with a $1.50 total and he paid with a five dollar bill. I gave him a $2 bill, silver dollar and 50¢ piece in change. He stared at it and then said he guess that was correct. I had been waiting for that to happen.
Whenever I ran a register at any place that register trained me, I put $2's, $50's and $100's *under* the removable till. I would put 50 cent pieces and $1 coins in the extra coin cup under the coin rolls.
All this people make it soo complicated lmfao. I'm a part time employee manager at a fast food place. We keep our $2 on top of the $100 bills. And when it's time to give change, we try to get rid of them. And give those $2 bills as change with the following customer. I usually like to keep them for myself. But I have a couple, so I'll just give them out and change or tell my team to give it out as change
Usually when ever some ones pays my in 2$ bills I put in 50/100$ spots since i put 50/100s under to be safer. And I usually buy them at end my shift or end up giving to a regular customer that collect them when he comes in for his morning coffee and paper
I would give them back as change when it made sense. Do they need 3 dollars back? Ok, I'd give one two dollar bill and a single. I didn't always have two dollar bills or dollar coins but I gave them back as change sometimes.
I also had a customer once state that they $2 bills mixed up with their $1 bills. I asked them how do you keep the $5 and $10 straight? They never thought of that.
The $1 bill should be retired, because it's often not enough for a candy bar. When I worked at Taco Bell (a long time ago), the manager didn't like $2 bills. We were instructed to give them out as change as soon as possible. It would be very rare that they ended up being deposited at the bank at day's end.
Fun Fact: 2 Dollar bills aren't that rare, it's just that people think they are so whenever somebody gets one they save it, pulling it out of circulation.
We are the experts on that fact. That's kinda the point of the channel - to educate people about the bill. Here's that fact and 4 more: th-cam.com/video/FQJGDgCJGpA/w-d-xo.html
Way back when I was a cashier, I would put them under the $1s. If I had enough of them they'd get their own slot and I'd regularly give them out in change.
I work behind a register at a small residential market so let me fill you in. When customers bring us $2 bills, we usually either lift the tray and stick them there or we set them aside. The spot we would normally place $2 bills in we would stick receipts in it because like the rest of the bills debt, credit or EBT cards are commonly used. For the foreign change people sometimes bring us (sidenote: I've received Canadian coins because the patron mistook it for a quarter. British shillings because they thought it was a dollar coin, yes we also get those and Filipino, Argentinian, Mexican, pesos, dollars, pounds, and these as well ¥, I forget how to say this one) we too have a dedicated slot for those as well, we would place our pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, and foreign coins in that order This doesn't apply to *EVERY* market but some might have the same setup as ours does. Hope you found this interesting. Have a nice day.
Yes, very interesting. Thank you for the insight. As the video says, all cashiers will have their own system, so it's always nice to hear how people set up theirs.
I once gave my sister a two dollar bill and told her to never spend it. The next day she went to school and bought one of those fund raising candy bars with it smh
This is a $2 bill channel, but any star note is worth a little more. Check eBay for a similar year and condition for your $100 - it's worth what people will pay for it.
When the cashier wonders where to put the $2s, I tell them the $5s are in the wrong place. If they are talkative, I explain when I run a cash drawer, the $1s go under the drawer because I hand out $2 bills and $1 coins.
I worked on a job that they fill the. Money changing machines with. Coin dollars that were gold colored looked just like the silver ones...but it was first time I ever seen them so made sure a saved about 300 of them by the time we finished the job....I had fun spending them everywhere ...almost every cashier had to ask there manger if it was real .
I had a young cashier refuse to take my $2 bills because she they we're fake. It's was all I had on me so I had to ask her to get a manager to explain they are real.
That's great to hear because I believe that $2 bills are not taught enough - not even in toys, which is why I made this video: th-cam.com/video/xU2lTapr_ws/w-d-xo.html
@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary the 1s,5s,10s,20s,50s and 100s the founding fathers are on the front only. It just bothers me when people put those in the register drawer face down which is very disrespectful to your founding fathers
I think you need to worry about more important things. Maybe some cashiers can better identify a bill because of the backs, so they stack them that way.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary In my opinion it is very disrespectful to your founding fathers if the dollar bills are face down instead of face up. You can tell the different bills if you put them in the till face up also. I guess I have OCD and have a certain way I like my bills in my register till.
Sometimes they go with the $100s in the same slot or perhaps under the register. In my opinion, a cashier is more likely to give a $2 out as change (if they have them) than a $50 or $100, so the $2s should be more easily accessible.
When I worked at Kroger after they marked the hundred they would stick it under the tray of money But I would think the one person that put the two under the one, I think you’re asking for trouble doing that. What if you run out of ones and you accidentally grab the two without paying attention? Then you might think you’re cursed. 😂

They usually get lumped with the $100s, either in a slot the cashier makes for large bills, or perhaps they too go under the till.

I also had a customer once state that they $2 bills mixed up with their $1 bills. I asked them how do you keep the $5 and $10 straight? They never thought of that.
Over in Florida, it’s rare to even have two dollar bills. I’ve seen less 2 dollar bills than 100 dollar bills
Ok honestly put the 100’s and 50’s under the register tray and leave the 2’s in the empty slot
1:42 Notice how there's a 20 Euro Cent coin with the $1 coins and $2 bills.
Very interesting.
Just happened to be one in that register. Nothing done intentionally on our end
$2 bill goes under the tills tray with the 50, 100 bills and checks.
What did they do with the old 500 dollar bill
I love paying with dollar coins. Essentially the same thing happens.
1:15 there's a ॐ(Aum) sticker on the cash register! Namaste! Sir from India!
@@benlamsal Namaste!🇳🇵🇮🇳
We just put them on the far left side with the checks, 50s, and 100s.
Underneath the drawer???? I should be management 😂😂😂😂😂
Time to update your resume.
You put them under the tray or in the safe next to the 100's

The $1 bill should be retired, because it's often not enough for a candy bar. When I worked at Taco Bell (a long time ago), the manager didn't like $2 bills. We were instructed to give them out as change as soon as possible. It would be very rare that they ended up being deposited at the bank at day's end.
Singapore doesn't have this problem. In Singapore, there are
S$1 coins and S$2 notes. Hundred dollar notes are rarer and so are twenties.
9pm: Yeah mom I'll be in bed after this video.
3am:
We just throw them with the 50's and 100's. 1 dollar coins have a slot but they can be filled up with rolls sometimes
LMAO MY MOUTH LITERALLY WATERED WATCHING THIS 😂😂😂😂
Why? I don't remember seeing any food.
Just put it under or on top of the $1 bills.
Where do you put the 2s? *In your pocket* (pay for them, don't steal)
Lots of great videos on this channel. Love the $2 bill!
Way back when I was a cashier, I would put them under the $1s. If I had enough of them they'd get their own slot and I'd regularly give them out in change.
When i got $2 i put them under the coin tray.
In my country, they have a another layer which they put the unknown/2$ Bills
I work behind a register at a small residential market so let me fill you in.
When customers bring us $2 bills, we usually either lift the tray and stick them there or we set them aside. The spot we would normally place $2 bills in we would stick receipts in it because like the rest of the bills debt, credit or EBT cards are commonly used.
For the foreign change people sometimes bring us (sidenote: I've received Canadian coins because the patron mistook it for a quarter. British shillings because they thought it was a dollar coin, yes we also get those and Filipino, Argentinian, Mexican, pesos, dollars, pounds, and these as well ¥, I forget how to say this one) we too have a dedicated slot for those as well, we would place our pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, and foreign coins in that order
This doesn't apply to *EVERY* market but some might have the same setup as ours does. Hope you found this interesting. Have a nice day.
Yes, very interesting. Thank you for the insight. As the video says, all cashiers will have their own system, so it's always nice to hear how people set up theirs.
I liked this video👍
I once gave my sister a two dollar bill and told her to never spend it. The next day she went to school and bought one of those fund raising candy bars with it smh
You can get more at the bank

I have a hundred dollar bill star note..are they worth anything?
This is a $2 bill channel, but any star note is worth a little more. Check eBay for a similar year and condition for your $100 - it's worth what people will pay for it.
At Walmart I was also told buy my csm to put them with the big bills like $100 or $50
Thanks for this one. Very good video.
Glad you liked it!
When the cashier wonders where to put the $2s, I tell them the $5s are in the wrong place. If they are talkative, I explain when I run a cash drawer, the $1s go under the drawer because I hand out $2 bills and $1 coins.
Love it!
Do you get aresited by counitfitting money
Absolutely
I worked on a job that they fill the. Money changing machines with. Coin dollars that were gold colored looked just like the silver ones...but it was first time I ever seen them so made sure a saved about 300 of them by the time we finished the job....I had fun spending them everywhere ...almost every cashier had to ask there manger if it was real
.
I had a young cashier refuse to take my $2 bills because she they we're fake. It's was all I had on me so I had to ask her to get a manager to explain they are real.
In the same place that you put the $20 under the plastic box.
We did a test at school about who was on money And they had $2 bills in it so yea
That's great to hear because I believe that $2 bills are not taught enough - not even in toys, which is why I made this video: th-cam.com/video/xU2lTapr_ws/w-d-xo.html
Just be like England make the 1 dollar bills into a penny and then put the 2 dollars in there
I’m a cashier and if I get a $2 bill I just put them in the drop safe next to me where I put the bigger bills 🤷🏻♀️
Collect all the $2 bills and in the future they will be worth a fortune
Not really, because they don't grow in value. Plus, if you had them all, the Bureau of Engraving & Printing would just make more.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary well, unless they stop printing then yeah, you are right.
Dang! Have some respect for your founding fathers. Keep those bills face up not face down.
There are more founding fathers on the back of the $2 bill than on the front.
Where do you put the 50s?
Sometimes they go with the $100s in the same slot or perhaps under the register. In my opinion, a cashier is more likely to give a $2 out as change (if they have them) than a $50 or $100, so the $2s should be more easily accessible.
I work at the dollar tree and I put them in with the receipts and I also collect them
Put the 2's under the 1's she said. God help her, she's gonna be short.
This is the most “I’ll go to bed early tonight... *3 am: this video*
Sleep tight
When I worked at Kroger after they marked the hundred they would stick it under the tray of money
But I would think the one person that put the two under the one, I think you’re asking for trouble doing that. What if you run out of ones and you accidentally grab the two without paying attention? Then you might think you’re cursed. 😂
Cut in half so they count as a 1 dollar bill
That one guy at the end is not saving money he is just trading money for a different bill😂
He is trading his money for a $2, but then he's saving the $2. So you are only half-right.
They go on top of the hundreds so you can try to get rid of them by the end of the day through giving back change to customers, duhh
What if I use a 1.50 bill
