Nightcrawler is one of the best movies ever honestly. Lou as a character is very intriguing to watch. The entire time I watched it I was always wanting to know what he was gonna do next. It also shows you the potential lengths a person will go to. Everything he does is real and so relatable. Good flick of Jakes in my opinion. October sky was pretty good too.
Demolition, Southpaw, Jarhead, Prisoner, Brothers, Zodiac.... Man, this interview could’ve and should’ve been twice as long, so therefore it’s a testament to his already legendary career.

Jarhead, Brothers, Zodiac, Nocturnal Animals... So many films that weren't in the video... I didn't see Stronger but i doubt that it could be at that level (exept if the mesurmeant to pick a topic is his performance)
Most people are legendary actors. People every day in reality are pretending to be someone else and are far more convincing at it... just check your history of heartbreak and conflict. Most times born out of situations where you are faced with actors you've invested in. Not sure why people worship actors so much. It's the easiest job in the world.
I watched Donnie Darko recently. I didn’t know the siblings were actually related in real life, but already felt the dynamic between the characters was very real and brilliant. it was a great surprise to find out the truth
End of Watch and Nightcrawler are two of the most criminally underated films of this decade. Mark my words. Jake Gyllenhaal will win an Oscar eventually.
Love those two things that he said; about lending his name to projects so that other people's stories can be heard and that bit at the end, that their experience and an audience's experience of a film are two totally different things. His insight into what he does is super interesting to listen to.
I remember watching it in a cinema when it came out and that scene plays out literally seconds before lights come up. I was in tears and there was no way I could hide it. It traumatised me so much I haven't had the courage to watch the movie again 😂
I can never watch it again because last time I cried for a solid 3 hours later and I couldn't do anything I was so depressed and sad. It's a movie that really brings out the emotions you were keeping inside
Donnie Darko is one of my favourite movies of all time. I saw it in. . .I'd say 2001 or 2002 and it really impacted me in a big way. I will love Jake forever because of that movie.
Same. His facial expressions and the way he moves his mouth and eyes has such a quality. My names Donnie and I really lived that movie more than I should’ve ha.
Yes, all of these! I couldn't figure out how to say what I wanted to about Jake in this interview, but you summarized it better than I ever could. He's so genuine and humble (here, and during other interviews too) when talking about his experience and success.
@Sam Sguanch Producers and executives care. It sucks, but there are lots of producers that have a say in the casting of movies and when the Academy recognizes you for even a nomination, it opens a lot of doors for your career. It's not everything, and plenty of people have a successful career without an Oscar (Such as Leo DiCaprio) but it also doesn't hurt.
@Sam Sguanch Yes he did, but that was his first after 30 years in Hollywood making blockbusters. I'm not saying that the awards are anything special to the rest of us, I'm just saying who would care like you asked.
For sure, he didnt even get to his prisoners character which is my favorite character he played, real good. That and his nightcrawler probably my top 2.
For me his role in Jarhead was very very important to me, I have a lot of family and friends who are Gulf War veterans and his portrayal of Swofford always made for a great way to show people a little insight for how a soldier feels when deployed, especially when my time came and the movie made a lot of sense in some parts.
Brokeback Mountain had so many jokes made about it, the movie itself kind of became a joke, which is a real shame, because it's one of the most compelling, heartbreaking and tragic love stories in Hollywood cinema, imo.
"Donnie Darko" and "Nightcrawler" are my two favorites of his, but there's also "Jarhead", "Source Code", and especially "Zodiac" and "Prisoners". Lots of good JG movies.

@@trever2244 ...he was the perfect Nightcrawler. But he could take an award almost any time. I'm still amazed at the parts he plays. Darko as a teen was one of the most intense roles ever seen,
Great film, not exactly an Oscar performance though. Not sure what you're on about
Is it me who enjoy this style of interview without hearing the interviewer questions?
Well it depends on how they execute it. I think it works here but sometimes it doesn't and ends up confusing the viewers.
There are no questions to hear though, he's going through each of his films.
@@baronvonhoughton You can hear people engaging with him throughout the video. They are definitely saying things, but are also letting him do all the talking. And there are cuts where he is obviously asked a question. He says "Yes, so.." and then goes onto explain something a couple times after cuts.
I prefer to hear what they want to say.

I Just finished watching it 5mins ago. F*CK I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT! The ending had me shocked and I almost cried as well:(
Demolition, Southpaw, Jarhead, Prisoner, Brothers, Zodiac.... Man, this interview could’ve and should’ve been twice as long, so therefore it’s a testament to his already legendary career.
@Jonathan Fitzgerald I concur. Probably the only time Jakey has ever been upstaged.
Thank you for reminding me Demolition exists.

Neonravekid the very definition of a tragedy.
I remember watching it in a cinema when it came out and that scene plays out literally seconds before lights come up. I was in tears and there was no way I could hide it. It traumatised me so much I haven't had the courage to watch the movie again 😂
