I'm definitely obsessed with the movie an its meaning now. I been thinking about it all day.
i think they did it in order of the topics and subjects jake gyllenhaal decided to talk about rather than chronological order...therefore it makes more sense that way
Nightcrawler is one of the best movies ever honestly. Lou as a character is very intriguing to watch. The entire time I watched it I was always wanting to know what he was gonna do next. It also shows you the potential lengths a person will go to. Everything he does is real and so relatable. Good flick of Jakes in my opinion. October sky was pretty good too.
Demolition, Southpaw, Jarhead, Prisoner, Brothers, Zodiac.... Man, this interview could’ve and should’ve been twice as long, so therefore it’s a testament to his already legendary career.
Love those two things that he said; about lending his name to projects so that other people's stories can be heard and that bit at the end, that their experience and an audience's experience of a film are two totally different things. His insight into what he does is super interesting to listen to.
End of Watch and Nightcrawler are two of the most criminally underated films of this decade. Mark my words. Jake Gyllenhaal will win an Oscar eventually.
I remember watching it in a cinema when it came out and that scene plays out literally seconds before lights come up. I was in tears and there was no way I could hide it. It traumatised me so much I haven't had the courage to watch the movie again 😂
I can never watch it again because last time I cried for a solid 3 hours later and I couldn't do anything I was so depressed and sad. It's a movie that really brings out the emotions you were keeping inside
I watched Donnie Darko recently. I didn’t know the siblings were actually related in real life, but already felt the dynamic between the characters was very real and brilliant. it was a great surprise to find out the truth
The way he talked about Brokeback Mountain was just so profound and respectful. And beautiful. Sometimes I forget just how many movies he's been in that have been so impactful to me, I guess that is a testament to his ability to act. (By the way, I still miss and love you Heath. 💛)
5:44 “The job of art is to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed” that is the truest quote I’ve ever heard in my entire life. That’s my favourite. I’ve never held onto a quote before but that one spoke to me on another level
Thanks for your unending love and support. I can't get enough of the love you've been showing me which has been an inspiration to my career. I'm grateful. How long have you been my fan?
he is so committed to his craft and his artistry yet still manage to be so humble. truly he has one of the most impressive filmography. kudos for always sticking to your gut, jake. stay beautiful
Most people are legendary actors. People every day in reality are pretending to be someone else and are far more convincing at it... just check your history of heartbreak and conflict. Most times born out of situations where you are faced with actors you've invested in. Not sure why people worship actors so much. It's the easiest job in the world.
Donnie Darko is one of my favourite movies of all time. I saw it in. . .I'd say 2001 or 2002 and it really impacted me in a big way. I will love Jake forever because of that movie.
Same. His facial expressions and the way he moves his mouth and eyes has such a quality. My names Donnie and I really lived that movie more than I should’ve ha.

For me his role in Jarhead was very very important to me, I have a lot of family and friends who are Gulf War veterans and his portrayal of Swofford always made for a great way to show people a little insight for how a soldier feels when deployed, especially when my time came and the movie made a lot of sense in some parts.
Yes, all of these! I couldn't figure out how to say what I wanted to about Jake in this interview, but you summarized it better than I ever could. He's so genuine and humble (here, and during other interviews too) when talking about his experience and success.
Jake Gyllenhaal breaks down his iconic roles in 21min, Seth Rogers in 36min... I don't wa t to compare these 2 actors but I think Jake deserves at least 40min. They didn't even mention movies like Prisoners or source code
He shows so much gratitude and joy when he speaks about his filmmaking. I think it’s very telling when you look at the movies that he’s made and the people he continues to collaborate, with that he truly loves his craft. Also such a great sense of humor. Bravo to you Jake! You’ll have that Oscar one day 👏🙌
Jarhead, Brothers, Zodiac, Nocturnal Animals... So many films that weren't in the video... I didn't see Stronger but i doubt that it could be at that level (exept if the mesurmeant to pick a topic is his performance)
"Donnie Darko" and "Nightcrawler" are my two favorites of his, but there's also "Jarhead", "Source Code", and especially "Zodiac" and "Prisoners". Lots of good JG movies.
For sure, he didnt even get to his prisoners character which is my favorite character he played, real good. That and his nightcrawler probably my top 2.
@Sam Sguanch Producers and executives care. It sucks, but there are lots of producers that have a say in the casting of movies and when the Academy recognizes you for even a nomination, it opens a lot of doors for your career. It's not everything, and plenty of people have a successful career without an Oscar (Such as Leo DiCaprio) but it also doesn't hurt.
@Sam Sguanch Yes he did, but that was his first after 30 years in Hollywood making blockbusters. I'm not saying that the awards are anything special to the rest of us, I'm just saying who would care like you asked.

That is always going to be my favorite movie
it creeped me out so good he did so well
Nightcrawler is one of the best movies ever honestly. Lou as a character is very intriguing to watch. The entire time I watched it I was always wanting to know what he was gonna do next. It also shows you the potential lengths a person will go to. Everything he does is real and so relatable. Good flick of Jakes in my opinion. October sky was pretty good too.
I Just finished watching it 5mins ago. F*CK I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT! The ending had me shocked and I almost cried as well:(
Shows how incredible he is as an actor when you don’t have time to talk about Source Code, Prisoners, Zodiac, Nocturnal Animals, Jarhead etc
I was really hoping to hear about Prisoners and Enemy, Zodiac, and Source Code.
also Southpaw, It was amazing movie.
@@TomAKAVeto Everyone forgets Enemy. Super underrated but understandably too independent for this list.
Pretty much everything he's made since Prince of Persia is amazing.
I wanted to hear about Velvet Buzzsaw too.
Demolition, Southpaw, Jarhead, Prisoner, Brothers, Zodiac.... Man, this interview could’ve and should’ve been twice as long, so therefore it’s a testament to his already legendary career.
@Jonathan Fitzgerald I concur. Probably the only time Jakey has ever been upstaged.
Thank you for reminding me Demolition exists.
don't forget Enemy.
Nocturnal Animals!!
Prince of Persia?
His humbleness has made it to Keanu Reeves level. What a down to earth humble human being
my thoughts exactly!
They should be in a movie together!
TKvids 13 they definitely should!!
I would definitely watch a movie with both of them in it.
Yeah! They are both very adorable
Love those two things that he said; about lending his name to projects so that other people's stories can be heard and that bit at the end, that their experience and an audience's experience of a film are two totally different things. His insight into what he does is super interesting to listen to.
This is probably the best episode I've seen. He is so honest and affectionate when talking about his peers and what has shaped him.
Ikr
Yes he is. I've noticed that about him through his interviews. I love how honest and genuine and just...human he is lol.
End of Watch and Nightcrawler are two of the most criminally underated films of this decade. Mark my words. Jake Gyllenhaal will win an Oscar eventually.
he really shouldve gotten one for nightcrawler... people slept on that movie so hard
Enemy is easily his most underrated performance.
Oh my god. An Oscar for best animated short film? No one would be more deserving
@@mcaulfield1969 haha
He should have won for Brokeback Mountain
The ending of Brokeback Mountain, literally just breaks my heart. The ending literally just has me in tears every time.
Neonravekid the very definition of a tragedy.
Of course it does.
Heath in that scene is absolutely astonishing. To me, he is the best actor of all time.
I watched Donnie Darko recently. I didn’t know the siblings were actually related in real life, but already felt the dynamic between the characters was very real and brilliant. it was a great surprise to find out the truth
He's so soft spoken and humble and weird and genuinely funny, he really is *the* dream guy

Humble? I don’t know 🤔. I hear a lot of me and I when he speaks.
@@EnsignRedSquad well it's an interview...about him

The way he talked about Brokeback Mountain was just so profound and respectful. And beautiful. Sometimes I forget just how many movies he's been in that have been so impactful to me, I guess that is a testament to his ability to act.

You’ll have that Oscar one day 👏🙌
Would have loved a full 40 minutes of this so he could talk about his other great roles as well!
