    We are also going to Iceland in May 2023, so looking forward to it. I did read that there is not a lot of tourists in May that it why it is a good time to visit. What type of layers did you have. In Western Australia we really don't have real cold winters so I think a bit of a culture shock. Any tips or advice would be welcomed. Beautiful video pictures.

      I’m sure there are less tourists than during summer time.
      I actually wore quite a lot of layers. A top, a merino wool layer, fleece jacket, thin down jacket and my skiing jacket on top, merino wool layer and weather proof pants on the bottom and always a warm hat! Pack lots of fleeces and layers and weather and RAINproof top layers!

    Great vlog of Iceland 🇮🇸 Have been lucky to have visited this amazing country 5 times and have been to many of the places you have shown here and many others. It’s a very unique country and probably top of my list of best places I’ve ever visited. Hope to return for a 6th time soon.

    How was the weather? Is it raining a lot? I only saw blue skies towards the end of the video..
    Thanks.

      It was still pretty cold, I wore my heavy winter gear - many layers und skiing jacket, warm hat. Weather could be anything between sunny and stormy! Some days it was raining, storming, freezing, then on others it was okay.

    Great video. We are going at the end of May this year. I expected things to be a little greener?

      No most parts are still pretty brownish, only around some waterfalls, where there is a lot of water and humidity it was green

    Hello, this year we are flying to Iceland in May, I would like to ask how it is with the people, according to the footage it looks like there were not many people, but appearances can be deceiving, were the campsites occupied or was there no problem? Or any recommendations on what to take to Iceland? What not to miss etc... Thank you very much and a beautiful video. I'm looking forward

    • @lenavictoria95
      @lenavictoria95  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! You will love it! Concerning people, it differs from the south to the north. In the south there are always “more” people I think, because it is easier to get to from Reykjavik, but it was still ok! No masses! In the north there were only few people. The campsites weren’t fully booked generally, there were always lots of places left. One campsite hadn’t been opened (in Husavik), although it said so online, we still camped there but had no facilities (shower, toilet..) since we’d already paid for it online.
      You definitely need warm clothes and weather proof clothes (jacket and trousers!) Could be storming and be freezing cold one day and the next day sunny weather. Good shoes!! Waterproof, good to walk in, warm!

    • @lenavictoria95
      @lenavictoria95  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh and it’s very very windy almost the whole time!! So be prepared for chilly winds. And don’t forget your bathing suit if you want to take advantage of all the hot springs. Ring road driving was no problem, the highland roads hadn’t been opened in May. Everything is still rather brown than lush green, but the good thing was that there were not too many people ☺️

      Are you staying at hotels or airbnbs? My travel agent recommended doing it on a cruise because she’s not finding many hotels in the area.

    • @lenavictoria95
      @lenavictoria95  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mereiriz we stayed in a camper van and I loved the freedom! There are a lot of “hostels” with private bedrooms and shared kitchen/bathroom, but not a lot of hotels. And if so, they’re super expensive.

    I'm currently planning our May trip now and hoping it's not too late (things are filling up!) Did you book your whale trip when you got there or in advance? Also trying to figure out accommodations. We don't want to have to move 6 or 7 times (we are going for 2 weeks). How many places did you stay? If you could only stay 2 or 3 places besides Reykjavík as bases, do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much for any help you can provide. I hope to do the same when we return

    • @lenavictoria95
      @lenavictoria95  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! We booked it one day before the trip, I don’t think you need to book a long time in advance.
      We had a camper van and we loved it! So much freedom and also cheaper I think. Most places didn’t even have hotels to stay at. Only the “bigger” villages. So you would have to stay in a kind of “hostel”/on a camping site with shared kitchen and even sometimes bathroom most of the time. We and them shared the bathroom and kitchen, they slept in a room and we slept in our van.

    I am considering taking a cruise to Iceland. Does anybody here has experience with such a cruise? I’m not sure if I will be able to see the main sights or if a day in each port will be too little time to really enjoy the place. Any advice?

    • @lenavictoria95
      @lenavictoria95  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you’re gonna miss out on a lot if you don’t have a car and go on a little road trip. It’s not only about the main sights, each road and the nature you drive through is a sight in itself!
