I've noticed the AA connection in Miami (coming from the northeast) time has shrunk to 45 min which is insane. They shouldn't even allow this as a valid connection!
We flew to MIA the night before this past trip due to connection options. Flying home we assumed 3 hours was plenty - nope - had barely 15 minutes to sit and eat a snack before boarding started.
Another tip on the tourism tax. If you get a payment error, check your e-mail - it might have gone through anyway. I got the error, tried again, got the error again, happened to look at my email and I had 2 e-mails for successfully paying the tax both times. And they do not issue refunds
Don’t forget the connection time upon your return! AA just tried to book us 1:30 connection in Miami. Even with Global Entry, if your bags are last out, there is no way you’re going to clear customs, recheck bags, clear security (especially if there is no TSA Pre-Check lane), and make that connection. And I’m too old to be running through airports LOL.
Thanks for the great tips Kevin. I'm making my first visit to Bonaire in April. SO TRUE on the advice regaring flight connections through Miami. I choose to simply reserve a hotel room on my return trip in Miami....rather than to deal with the stress of getting through Customs, bag re-check and TSA. Those tight connections can quickly turn into a train wreck.
Would like to know if there are any rental agencies that have larger vehicles. We have 6 people in our party and having trouble finding a rental car for all of us
@@nataliesteadman478 I’ve emailed the folks I use (Telerin) to see if they have a van. I’ll let you know when I hear back. I can’t find anything with other local agencies. Avis, however, appears to have vans. You’ll need to use their Bonaire website, not the main Avis website. avisbonaire.com/fleet/. I hope this helps!
@@KevinandLizGrogan thank you I’m planning a two centre holiday in 2026 mostly in Bonaire but starting in Aruba, then travelling to Bonaire for my 70th birthday as I’ve mentioned in a previous vlog. I find your vlogs very informative but please maybe you can also include a little bit of info for Europeans like myself. You do a great job promoting this lovely island the info about cruise days is very good as well. We hit cruise day tourists in Aruba once this year and it was like a plague had covered the island with quad bikes making some places impossible to get near. I’m sure Bonaire hasn’t reached that level yet. Thanks for your reply. Chris ☺️
Great info here! Thanks I have a question, My wife doesn't dive. How can a pair with a dive buddy if we go to Bonaire by ourselves? Or, should I go with a dive group from one of the LDS on the island? I hope you see my question!! Thanks again!
@@j.m.b5441 many of the dive shops, especially at the resorts, have buddy boards where solo divers can find others looking for buddies. I find that many people post in Facebook groups like Bonaire for Divers looking for buddies. There’s also a WhatsApp group for Bonaire divers looking for Buddies, but I unfortunately don’t know the name. I hope this helps!
Hi Kevin,. can you pls list your car rental favorites with links ?

I’ve noticed that, too. It’s ridiculous!

Yes, KLM offers daily flights.
