    My tips:
    1 Do not trespass (we do not want tourist on private property)
    2 Only walk on marked paths (Local fauna and flora is more important than your Instagram feed)
    3 If you absolutely have to hitchhike, do not walk onto the road to stop cars
    4 only stop your car in intended areas, not on the main road.
    5 Drive according to the speed limit.
    6 Respect signs.
    7 There is plenty of bathrooms at almost every attraction - use them.
    8 You can fill up water everywhere, so do not buy too many plastic bottles!
    9 Do not litter
    10 Shower before entering public pools

      These rules must apply everywhere and everyone must respect them... I come from Croatia and almost every day I have arguments with tourists about the same things.
      And the most important rule: if you don't respect the country you go to, stay at home and watch TH-cam or National Geography, it's not only my country, it's our planet, our mother earth, and we all have to protect it wherever we go.
      Peace and love :)

    We'll be visiting Iceland 13-19 May 2023 and will spend several days near Vic...We were looking at a loop road trip leaving 1 onto 208 to F208 to 26 and back to 1...you mention roads in the 'Highlands' will still be closed in May...on my map it looks like the 'Highlands' are in central Iceland, but you also mentioned, I think, Landmannalauger which is where one of the waterfalls we were going to hike (Ofaerufoss) is located (off F208)...Will our loop be doable in May? Truly appreciate your wonderful videos and advice, you have been an indispensable part of our planning, THANK YOU!!

    • @IcelandwithaView
      @IcelandwithaView  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jake! You will not be able to drive to Landmannalaugar nor on F208 in mid-May on your own. F-roads don't open until late May at the earliest. Consider booking a guided trip with Midgard Adventures to explore the highlands - they have the proper vehicles and experience to take you into the highlands before the roads open to the common traveler. Here is my video about Midgard: icelandwithaview.com/thorsmork-super-jeep-tour/

      @jakeblood33 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IcelandwithaView Thank You 😄for saving us a lot of needless planning...on Google Maps satellite view, F208 looks like it has some stream/river crossings that could be very exciting for us on our own...great video on Midgard and we will definitely check out their tours, and at the least, stop in for dinner and drinks! Perhaps we'll see you there!!

      Dear Jake, hope you had an amazing trip in May! Me and my wife are planning our first trip to Iceland in May 2024, between 10 to 20th, will you please let me know of your experience weather wise. • @jakeblood33

      Prasenjit...We had a fantastic time in Iceland in May 2023 and the weather did not impede any of our plans...we did have some rain (and wind), but the weather was predominantly overcast with several days of sunshine (we were there for one week)...the F-roads were still closed, but thanks to Iceland with a View, we did not plan any activities that would have taken us on the F-roads...In my view, Iceland is simply a wonderful place any time of year! Hope you have a great trip!

    • @IcelandwithaView
      @IcelandwithaView  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jorge! If you’re sleeping in a tent and you have a vehicle, then you’re going to have to make sure to charge those devices as you’re driving or some campsites also have electricity. You would have to pay more for that, but it is available for that. Another option is if the facility has a kitchen, then you can maybe use some of the outlets in the kitchen. Keep in mind that most campsites only have their facilities open from June to September.

      Hi Francisco! The aurora is most often seen from September through April but it's still possible for your trip. As the days get longer and the nights are shorter, there is less opportunity for the sky to get dark enough to see the lights. Hi Fabian! The point in the video that you reference is one of the most visited destinations in Iceland, Seljalandsfoss. All guided tours going to the South Coast stop at Seljalandsfoss and although May is considered to be off-peak, it can still get busy. I recommend visiting this waterfall in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowds.

      A trip to Blue Lagoon would be perfect for you! There are bus transfers that will take you from the airport to Blue Lagoon but you'll need to figure out the logistics on how to get back to the airport. Blue Lagoon also has 3 dining opportunities to fill your belly. And, it's a perfect way to get refresh & relax before continuing on your journey. Just be sure you're back at the airport at a reasonable time, you'll need to go thru the whole check-in & security process.
