- I'm not 100% sold on the non-electronic gel blasters, but if you want to explore gel on a budget you won't get much cheaper than the Xshot Clutch.

So nice coming back here after 8 years to see him still here, once again I missed this guy.
I just bought it at my local Canadian grocery shop for $25 CAD, it's been over a decade since I've bought a blaster. The cheap ammo was a big sell for me, since .177 airgun pellets and BBs are expensive. The blaster does feel solid, it's definitely not a competition air gun for shooting tight groups, but for blasting over soda and beer cans, it's fantastic. This blaster does not have slamfire
FINALLY, i wanted you to review this for a hot min. I love and own all 3 of the new Xshot gel blasters. This feels good in hand
This thing, obviously not very competitive compared to other X-Shot gel blasters - may be the perfect teen/adult garden plinker for anyone not interested in getting any deeper than this. Won't go through the bushes to take an eye out as airsoft replicas can, won't be inaccurate as anything foam dart based in that price range, and the ammo, even if not reusable last for ages.
Also - 100'F water makes the gel pellets ready under 30 minutes, no no long wait at all, I stored mine for 3 months with a tiny drop of isopropyl alcohol to prevent mold/algae growth - and only after that point they went bad, they will get significantly more translucent and break in the barrel - but the system doesn't care, it just pushes them out anyways so won't jam on this.
It seems that the SMG variant (Trace Fire) is the most "reasonable one", as it is a shame to say, apart from cool look (but it does look and feel VERY cool) and actual magazine and no top-feed container, the "assault rifle" of the bunch, HPG-700, doesn't offer THAT much more.
In UK at Argos they are now for £37.50 ($46.29) which is laughably low compared to anything-Nerf.
I own 15 of every x shot model and 17 surge XL models. The clutch is the most accurate of every model I own. This is a cqb style blaster for playing backyard or small area.
This blaster is very competitive if everyone is playing semi or everyone is running the clutch.
Soaking gels in hot water degrades the balls durability as it makes then soft and more prone to breakage.
Soaking them in the recommended time and draining all water will give the best results for accuracy and longevity.
Fps
Clutch = 160 -170
Tracefire = 160 -170
Hpg-700 = 230
@@ixclusiverc Hot (like boiling or so) - that is indeed a bad idea.100'F/36'C I didn't see a single one breaking in the barrel, ever.
You're absolutely right this may be bad if you keep them long term, but that warm water lot after a month was exactly the same. I think they've degraded later due to being soaked for too long or isopropyl doing something.
But entirely agreed on the accuracy. After figuring out where to aim it keeps a very tight group over 20m distances (way under torso size)
Warm water does make it fill up faster, but at the expense of poorer and more inconsistent performance since the gellets are softer.
And in some higher tuned gel blasters it increases the likelihood of jams or misfires, but those are like the ones that hardcore Aussie gel ballers use
The HPG 700 has 3 adjustable fps settings with the rail notch ranging from 120-210 fps and has a slightly higher maximum fps than the tracefire. Idk why xshot doesnt advertise the adjustable fps thing more because its hella cool and Idk of any other gel blaster capable of that. But it admittedly does have a slightly higher price tag and seriously lower onboard ammo capacity. The dual mag-and-hopper system on the tracefire gives it an insane capacity.
Everything else I agree with you though. Xshots initial gel offerings and pro foam offering have been hella good deals even at full msrps, im excited to see what else is coming into those lines later one
Yapper
@@anvu27257 Trace Fire also has the power slider. As you said, this feature should be a highlight for sure - especially at that price point.
From my experience, by the time the gel pellets are ready, the water is already cold/room temperature and they do indeed firm up a bit. Agreed that I wouldn't do it for the expensive systems with possibility of jamming, seems though that Xshot blasters do not care at all. The ones I mentioned that I soaked for 4 months with a bit of isopropyl, I think I shot like 200 of them, most broke, blaster works perfect afterwards.
Obviously it's a "user beware" caveat, but other than this, no issues noticed. Old ones fly way more inconsistent, as you said, but this was expected.
You can slide the tab on the mag up to cover up the hyper gel rounds for storage. Also there is a top hopper for storage. so you can load the top hopper and then have the mag filled with 400 so a total of 500 rounds active at once. it's hitting about 150-160 fps. Also you can shot fun load it with up to 4 rounds for a really nice spread. ;) Just reviewed this myself too.
does it need the magazine in place to keep gellets falling out, or can you load the 100 onboard shots and go without the magazine?
@@Ravenseye8 Can be out, the door there have a spring, and only open under weight when you turn it sideways so the orbs push in. The number of ways you can manage this is insane for something so cheap. All of those Xshot gel blasters are designed by a really smart dude.
That door at the top of the blaster is also great when you want to empty it for storage AND helps to dry it out.
@Ravenseye8 no it doesn't you can just load the tip hopper and run it that way
I have to wonder. Is gel taking over?
I feel like the ammo capacity of nerf gives more game variety as ammunition management has to actually be a factor, along with many other things like dart velocity, spin, weight etc, but then with gel, its all just spray and pray.
I mean, I guess airsoft gets around this with capacity limits and full auto limits, but will gel head that direction as well? I guess the story is yet to be written.
I honestly find it hard to believe that gel blaster (especially electric ones) havent blown the heck up. If i was 13 and i had a gelblaster id be blasting with my friends all day. Cheap ammo plus you don't have to worry about cleaning up and or picking up the darts.
HEY DUDE, I’ve been watching you forever, and I know your in Georgia.(Same) YOUR AWESOME keep it up. 😮
I don't think he is in Georgia anymore I think he moved to Florida
We didn’t need to know that
hey drac just wondering how do you hold your mags while playing because the website what you bought them off is no longer a thing could yu do a video on how other ones you can use and what else you could use to carry mags with out being bulkey?
I touched the magazine when I was at a store selling them. It felt soooooo cheap. I didn’t squeeze it in case it snapped. I doubt this product will last long due to the bad plastic.
@lorddraconical will blasterbarn have the nerf modulus regulator or recon mk 3 stock
Bro plz don’t top making videos. U are the bet
I reeeally dont like your background lol. I feel better now. Kthxbye
