Perfect video for new nerf enthusiast to start modifying blasters. I really like how you documented your pitfalls and shared what you learned. Awesome video!
@@random_ak_in_the_backyard well these are the types of videos I watch... I'm not really into watching big nertubers unbox a thing and that seems like all the main nerftubers do these days. I know I fall in this but I genuinely love modding and that's my real passion.
@@drflux dr flux, I have a question, I want to make my longshot shoot half darts, but I don’t want to buy anything, I got a Stryker and I’m wondering if I can put the dart pusher into the longshot
“The papa clamp’s mistress” caught me so off guard. I hope to see you among the greats like coop772 someday, because your style of commentary is really entertaining and deserves to be heard. Subscribed!
I know this video is new but I love the nostalgic vibes! The whole modifying component of Nerf as opposed to the current drop-in kit meta. I mean, it's awesome how accessible everything is now but this is just such a throwback. Great video!
Literally doing the same thing now, revisiting a modded longshot project I started in middle school. Finishing electronics to an ammo counter and hoping to design some custom 3D printed parts for it. Hoping to finally finish a project for once 😅 Also, I like how you made all these parts yourself rather than just going out and buying a kit to call it a day. Excellent job 👍
Seeing this made me very happy. I recently did the same thing and got back into the hobby and thinking about younger me, he would be very happy Nice vid man!
As a Turkish kid who got into nerfing in 2010 I never got to have a longshot despite my yearnings, and remember the old brass breech craze and all. This is a true wish fulfillment throwback for me and im sure a lot of people who "grew out of" nerf. Incredible how the hobby has evolved with 3d printing, half darts, lipos, flywheels and such.
As someone who fell out of the modding scene for some time, seeing someone else get back into the hobby with a lot of garnered knowledge an skill is inspirational for sure. I might take a crack at finishing my WIP longshot from yesteryear.
Got my Vulcan EBF-25 chaingun back in 2006. I'm now 25 years old and the Vulcan EBF-25 is still in my closet waiting to be modified once more. Always thought about adding on the Longshot's sniper scope & the recon's laser dot attachments and the Rampage's/stampede's riot shield attachment. A modification i have achieved so far is the ammo belt, removing the green "out of ammo" portion and added another 25 dart belt, now carrying 50 belts in one mag. This was a heart/wholesome nostalgic video, i still remember the times you were the baddest kid on the block if you had the Stampede/Recon/Longshot/Vulcan EBF-25, good times.
Nice video dude! Consider investing in a vice, even a cheap one. I guarantee it will make working with the dremel much easier when you can hold things like that sheet steel perfectly still.
I like how you seem to be approaching this from "let's play" side of things instead of "mad collector". Hehe. I have no way of knowing how many NERF blaster you own but your mod guide felt very fresh and refreshing. Do more.
@@matt_yuan Oh, I see. Well let me reinforce the point. Avid collector or not you struck managed to keep it fresh and if your next video is just as good I will subscribe. No pressure.
This video is great! Really good editing and pacing, all around this was a great video! I found some parts of it oddly relaxing, like I was watching asmr or something. Great work man!
This is such a refreshing video, I appreciate you breaking down each step and why, let alone an old school mod instead of drop in kits. Wonderful absolutely wonderful
I don’t play nerf, own a nerf gun or know anything about nerf modding; yet I watched this entire video and loved it. Exactly what TH-cam should be for. Good on you guy.
thats amazing ! especially that it shows how they do some of the engineering that is usually barely documented online, especially that I dont have my own nerf blasters yet so making one isnt easy
last year I built a 200 x 100 cm pegboard to hang my nerf blasters on my wall on my bedroom. 12 year old me would've been so stoked about that. (but now almost 10 years later, I still find it a pretty cool piece of decoration in my room) I've done some modding in the past. but this video makes me want to start modding and building nerf blasters again
No way! Just last month I got into a spiral of looking for nostalgic nerf content and was thinking of modifying my own blaster, and this video comes out! Perfect timing and great video haha.
Dude I loved this. You should do more of these mod videos. I also had those childhood dreams of making super strong nerf guns but didn’t have the abilities or the know how. Thank you for letting me live out that dream vicariously through you!
I modded my longshot a few years back with a more powerful spring (I think it was 10kg) but didn't make any reinforcements so eventually when you reloaded it wouldn't catch properly and it would even fire without pulling the trigger lol. Great build by the way and It's nice to see that people are still into nerf modding.
I really enjoyed doing this as a teenager. I still have an N-Strike Recon I lengthened the spring chamber on and drilled out the air brake. It make a LOUD noise when shot, haha. The original blaster was left in a sand box, so I was given it for free. Cleaning and upgrading it was very satisfying. You took me down a really pleasant memory trip tonight, thank you.
removing the air restrictor will give a small boost for most spring-powered blasters, though it's harder to access in other blasters (glued construction etc)
Yep. I’ve been thinking about modding a Longshot now for quite a bit. I think this vid put me over the edge. Gonna see what I can make an older blaster such as this do. Thanks for the info!
i remember getting a Nerf N-Strike LongStrike CS-6 for christmas and thinking it was the coolest thing with how it had the "bolt" and release on top, i wish i knew about these modifications when i was younger
Unrelated, but I love the small watch collection shown off in this video. As a fellow watch nerd I see some great choices, especially love the nerf orange Seiko gmt!
When I was little, I had a Longshot, and my first blasters were the old nerf pack of two pistols with a charging loop in the back that came with a battery powered target. They shot well, in fact better than the Longshot, but when I was about 11 to 12 or so, I got an elite pistol, and I have to say they actually can hurt a tad firing at almost 100fps, I was so blown away. I could shoot a foam dart across my entire neighborhood. The dart moved so fast it sorta spiraled in the air from turbulence. I was like, "THIS is how Nerf was MEANT to be." Fun video, loved seeing the FPS improvements through each upgrade, instead of all these other TH-camrs Just doing all the upgrades at once and only doing a final chrono test.
You mind reader, I have a full unmodded nerf longshot from when I was a kid and I've been thinking about modding it for fun recently. This is exactly the video I needed. Please do more videos!
When you come across a stuck screw take a torch to the tip of the screw driver. Also the L brackets should be screwed in not glued. With that said, your mod was awesome and well done.
Great video, I see you dont have very many subs, but you produce and speak at the level of a 10k+ sub account. Keep it up good things are coming your way
This was cool! Think I remember that long shot nerf gun. Think it was one of the ones either me or my friends had. Used to watch a lot of nerf modding vids, was nice to see one show up in my home feed.
When I was 12 I cut down the front blaster attachment and turned it into an under barrel attachment, modded the plunger and painted it flat black with white stripes then weathered it with grey paint. It was my favorite mod I ever did.
Nice! Nerf is super fun! But we enjoy sticking with super stock so everyone can play in equal measure and our blasters last longer. And no one gets hurt!
Man…. I remember BEGGGGGING my parents for the CS6, I wanted yellow but i got the blue model. I was so disappointed because my nerf revolver would shoot further 😂
You may know already, if you have 16mm electrical conduit tube it has 13mm inner diameter for nerf darts,20mm slides over 16mm electrical conduit to make a breech. 17/32 brass barrels. I dont have a 3d printer so i use what i can. Great mod video :)
dude this is a great first video i would love to watch more of these, the other modding nerf blasters seem very industrial if that makes sense and it doesnt feel as "real" because its not really mechanics like the barrel and the spring they're just putting batteries and flywheels in them.
the sniper they made after the longshot was skinnier and only disassembled at the barrel from what i remember, but i noticed that the longshot, shot way farther than its replacement.
