In this video Heimler walks you through the contents of Federalist 51, written by James Madison, which is a required document for AP Government. Madison takes pains in this document to show how American citizens need not fear federal tyranny because of the separation of powers inherent in the federal government, and the system of checks and balances provided by the Constitution. The Constitution separates power into three branches: the legislative (in which power is further divided between the Senate and the House), the executive, and the judicial.
And then power is further divided between the federal government and the state governments, a system called federalism. Then Madison finishes the argument by showing how such separation of powers will protect citizens from the tyranny of factions.

They failed to foresee that all the branches on all the levels will be controlled by 2 factions (parties) only and so all the branches will cooperate instead of checking each other with the agenda of increasing the power of their faction in all branches.

it is crazy how well many of the documents written by our founding fathers have aged. of course stuff changes with time, but many of those documents have stayed very truthful and relevant to times. it goes to show how little human nature changes.

The founders didn't foresee the rise of extremely partisan political parties(which could be seen as a bit naive). But Parties when they control both branches of the federal gov't fed 51 greatly loses its force.
