This is a really great dram. I absolutely agree with you about the %abv, to me it actually takes a few drops of water really well. I took it with me on a small whisky evening with some friends, and all of us was really pleased with this one. A thing came up an we all agreed that there is some truth in the saying that "Benromach is the Springbank of Speyside"

Dear Alan, I have only had one bottle of the classic 10 yo. It was indeed good and at 43% did not need water at all. Sadly in Italy the older bottlings are much too expensive. Thanks for your fine review kindest regards, S.

Respect that you gave this 15 year old such a great review Alan. I love this 15 as it is, punches well above its weight and it’s always on my shelf. Slàinte 🥃

Nice one Alan absolutely right on grabbing this whisky to a fishing trip or a chill evening. We do forgive Benromach for their 43% s because of how good they are. Sure a 46% and above would be good but sometimes you do want a nice calm delicious dram to sit and relax with. Cheers my friend 🥃

Great choice thanks Alan for the review. The 15 yo is indeed the greatest from Benromach’s core range. Around christmas last year they released a NAS CS version that was fantastic. I was lucky enough to taste it but I lost my notes and its name 😢

I always enjoy the research that you kindly share, Alan. Nice work.
I have a B15 bottle from a few years back, open. It took several months to express itself--I was very disappointed at first but left it alone and came back to a transformation. I agree B15 at 43% does not trouble me, provided they maintain that richness and depth of flavour. My B15 I find quite industrial and savoury. It reminds me of a very dusty farm workshop and tractor shed. There are dunnage warehouse notes, whitewashed stones or concrete blocks, motor oil, grease, metal tools on the benchtop, tiny flakes of metal beneath the metal grinder, and a patina of dust over everything that's adhered to the oil. That's the grungy character of B15 that I thoroughly enjoy. Someone on whiskybase says B15 has the subtlety of a brick, but they weren't being critical and I think they're accurate. It's a lovely whisky, although sadly has gone from being one of the best-priced 15s in my market to now being very much middle of the pack. Similar pricing to UK "full retail" and we (nz) don't seem to get [m]any promotional/competitive discounts on malts, unlike some others. ~UKP52 2 years ago, now ~UKP71.

Beautiful video Alan! I love Benromach 15! When I can find it and order it (it's never on Vancouver's whisky shelves) I always enjoy this fantastic, high quality single malt scotch! Thanks for explaining the 43% ABV. I do wish this beauty was bottled at 46% but it's wonderful at 43%!! I agree with you about why it's fantastic at 43% ABV! Terrific thoughts Alan!! I love your videos! So happy to find a new one this morning! Love the tastings on my palette! So delicious and oh do I love the fruit and smoke! Cheers! :-)

Great review Alan. Benromach is doing great things with their core range offerings. I have tried the 10, 15 and contrast peat smoke bourbon and sherry. They have not disappointed me in any way. I may have to add a backup bottle of 15 and maybe get a bottle of their CS. All great stuff Alan!

    Thanks for reviewing Alan.
Have yet to try this one, but do like most of the other expressions ( OB and IB) I've tried.

    I can’t think of a better 15. It’s so good there’s no point getting their 21.

Hey Sandy, just goes to show that all whisky does not need to be 46%...the key with this distillery is those first fill barrels and casks fella...thanks for dropping by my friend

I tried this for the first time last week while I was in the Pot Still in Glasgow. I absolutely loved it, the 10 was nice but this is amazing.
