Beat my goal time of 3:35 and as promised I will now move on to DK Adventure Any%, the DLC of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. I will return to this category eventually, I'll maybe even consider swapping in between the two... True goal is to get a sub 3:30 time but that'll have to wait for now... I do see the potential for it to happen, especially if I get all the good RNG.

At the moment I have no interest in speedrunning anymore, I'm focusing on other things like work and just relaxing etc. Maybe one day I will get the urge to speedrun again, maybe, but for now I've stopped.

So there are faster ways to do some but it will come down to luck at that point. *edit: And if they don't happen you lose a lot of time since the battle will play out completely different and not favorable, which actually happened in a few fights in this run.
In a "Perfect" situation I think around 3 hours and 25 minutes might be possible but that's if everything goes right, at least that's my guess based on current understanding. The skip is a little hard to explain, first you have to get out of bounds by wiggling back and forward in a certain spot on the edge (refer to video), then when you are out of bounds you have to wiggle yourself back and forwards sideways so you ever so slightly move back towards in bounds to fall under the normal walking plane, at that point you have to go by feel if you are far enough below it to just walk underneath the barrier. Once you do it a couple of times you get the feel for it, most important thing is finding the exact spot, once you do it's relatively easy to do with a bit of practice.

I recently picked up this game again after looking through some of my switch games I haven't played in a while. I came to see if this game had any speedruns and found this. Some parts are so satisfying and I never knew about that early desert glitch. Hope you're doing well :)

Currently I'm on a break from the game while I try to expand my speedrun library. As far as subreddits, I wouldn't know I don't frequent reddit much. There is the general speedrunning reddit that I know of but I doubt there is a subreddit for mario rabbids speedrunning specifically. Probably just the general mario rabbids reddit, at least I imagine there would be a general one. There are two discords though, one is the official one which is just the general one by the creators themselves and there is a speedrun specific discord for the game which is pretty much inactive at the moment. Sadly I can't be of much help on this part, I've been essentially flying solo on this game since I started and didn't look around much to know what's out there with the exception of the speedrun discord. Hope this somewhat answers your question lol.
I did mess it up the first attempt but as you can maybe hear in the background I'm flicking the control stick for movement back and forward quite a bit. 1) First you want to wiggle your way out of bounds at the edge and get to the spot in the corner, it really is just running up against the edge and wiggle against it and eventually you'll get out of bounds. 2) Next is dropping down which is the same as the first but instead you want to be hovering out in the open over that corner, then you want to fall down far enough to drop under the floor. Its a bit finnicky but after getting it a bunch of times one will get a feel for it. For each of these steps the wiggle/flicking direction of the control stick is towards the bottom left, the range of motion was always a bit random for me I tried multiple different angles until I got it but always going back and forward and sort of hope for the best. Hope that helps, its a bit wordy but that is what I'm doing. Pair that with the video, some practice and I believe everybody should be able to do it eventually. I'm glad you liked the run, its been a while but happy to see it was enjoyable enough for others to watch.
I never knew you could do it there, but i did find 2 spots in the 2nd world where you do stuff like that, but its really useless in the spots i do it and its only for fun
Just finished this game today(Main storyline). Was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, especially after avoiding it for so long. Towards the end of the playthrough I thought to myself, I wonder how the speedrun of this would look. Especially as I played Mario, Luigi, R.Peach, was interested to see other play styles. Hours later I searched up, found this and am ready to sit down and enjoy :)
The only thing I didn't like was JUST the final boss. It wasn't fun, didn't feel very fair. 2 partners downed, 15/7 turns. But I did it. I beat the game. After about a half-year of not touching the game.

Ignored? It has more than 2 million copies sold! Outselling Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Octopath Traveler, and Astral Chain. And it's the 5th best selling 3rd party game for the Switch as of the time of this post, and #31 in top game sales on the Switch overall.
I guess “less talked-about game” is what they meant then? It’s clearly a good game, but in between Odyssey and The Origami King and 3d World + Bowser’s Fury, there was a lot more to focus on than a crossover.

Yeah it's unfortunate that it probably won't get one but then again I don't mind it too much this was a hidden gem for sure. I'm not sure what you mean by "just mario characters" do you mean triple Mario or something else? For what it's worth I think the way the game scales is pretty good as it is. Perhaps the only one I wish that was unlocked earlier would be regular Yoshi because he's so powerful. My ideal setup with current understanding is Mario, Rabbid Mario and Yoshi, it's a really strong team. If I had the choice I would even swap out Mario, if that was possible, for Luigi in certain situations.
Ah I see, hmmm I would have to say no in that case, the rabbid characters have unique abilities that allows them to be best suited for certain parts of the speedrun, not to mention weapon damage. Now if there were absolutely no restrictions when you unlock a character then I'd still stick to the general idea of Luigi being best suited for escort and reach area challenges, and then for pure damage output Mario, Rabbid Mario and Yoshi as a team. Though one thing to consider is if in that scenario you are also allowed max weapons and max skill points then you can pick just about any team that has great area of effect damage, it would then come down to how long their animations take and who can deal enough damage to finish off the most enemies with least amount of movement and animation time. But since the enemies are always spaced apart differently it's kind of hard to tell, plus that the battles play out differently, some are just forced to take X amount of turns. Ideally you'd take care of everything in 1 turn but that's not possible because of how the battles are designed. Please excuse me for the long winded answer/wall of text, but this game can get very complex when trying to optimize for speedruns, it might seem easy at first glance but once you dive deeper there are a bunch of things to consider. Not to mention that I just love to ramble on and theorize in general, hope this at least somewhat satisfies as an answer to your question.

I'd love if there was a way to skip the first battle in 1-1. I'm doing a Minimum Shot run of the game, and so far the tutorial is the only place in the entire game where firing the Primary Weapon is required.

Habit I suppose for a bunch there were cutscenes before and you can skip those by mashing, the same buttons as you would to activate extra health and since I was mashing I didn’t really lose that much time, sure for the parts where non of that was the case and where health didn’t matter I could have not activated it but it was purely habit to do so and one less thing to think about. That said there are some weird situations where remaining health does matter and affects enemy AI but probably wouldn’t have mattered in the fights where it wasn’t needed.
At the moment I'm very busy with real life things (work, health, etc.) that I don't have the time to squeeze in much of anything else. So it'll have to be after I get accustomed to my new work life balance to get a better picture of how it turns out schedule wise. Only then I can start looking to see how I will spend my free time, and if I'm still interested enough to try it out and maybe even consider speedrunning. It would probably be a long while after it comes out if I were to do so. That all could change of course if I somehow find more free time than anticipated so there is a tiny chance but for now I'll have to so no. Plus there are lots of other games I want to try out as well, I recently got myself a Wii that is GameCube compatible sooooo I'd sooner expect stuff from that. 👀 Bit of a long answer but felt it necessary to get the full picture.

That's awesome! Good luck in your attempts and thank you for the kind words. I love to see how you do and if you can come up with anything new. I've routed both categories by myself and spend a lot of time on it but I'm sure I probably missed little things here and there because I know one person alone can't find everything there is. With that said there are some parts that I already have some ideas for when I decide to come back to run this game again, plus there are some goal times I still want to achieve in both categories. But for now I'm taking a break from the game and learning other games to speedrun, Ratchet and Clank for the PS4 is one of them, I'm currently learning the 100% category for it.
my first play through 4-3 took my roughly 8-10 tries to beat. level is bonkers hard against certain strats. 2nd play through using completely new team (SUPER underestimated rabbid mario - turns out when you play around his AOE and don't shoot your own team he's much better) - just completely crushed it with the song and hammer + marios power up.

Yep, I’m in the speedrun discord and saw how the one that beat it progressed I told them they’d get it for sure and tried to give them the confidence to go for it. I’m happy that they managed to do it and funny enough in the exact timeframe I told em they would get it.
Yeah I'm excited to see what the game has to give. It looks like there will be more freedom in general which I think is a nice change of pace, which in turn will make for more interesting routing when it comes to speedruns. Can only hope for the best at this point but I have faith, especially from what I've seen and heard.
Also i am really impressed by your speedrun how did you do find each combinaison for each fight ? You have tested each fight with multiple technique to see if it works ?
@@thomashawk5788 Pretty much yeah, I looked at who and what have the highest damage numbers at what ever point in the game combined with the options they have available in the skill tree plus how effective/efficient they can deal that damage while trying to keep resetting the skill tree to a minimum. Which helped exclude a number of possibilities, from there trail and error and testing out what works and what doesn't trying to eliminate as much RNG as I could to make most of the fights consistent. On top of that finding the skip helped me with that because it helped limit the options even more, almost forcing certain choices. *Edit: Funny thing now that I think about it and remember my process, I spend more time outside of the game thinking of ways to make fights faster/how to clear them than I did actually playing. But of course I did end up playing a lot especially when practicing to refine those ideas/thoughts.
@@thomashawk5788 Unfortunately to unlock the skill tree you have to beat the mid boss in 1-5, so that's why we have to go back after doing the skip. I tried looking for other places to get it but the game seems to have it forced to unlock only there (even after beating world 2 without skill tree).
When somebody feels like doing it I suppose, I'm not the one to do it. My limit for longer speedruns used to be around the 3 hour mark but now a days I don't have that luxury anymore so its down to around 2 hours max. I wish who ever goes for it the best of luck, and if they want they can check my list of glitch/skips I was able to find that are useful for gold file.

The Rabbid Yoshi is terrible yes, from damage output to abilities/skills the other options are just better. Regular Yoshi is actually pretty good and is used near the end of the run since it unlocks after the mid boss fight vs Bowser Jr.
Depends on the objective but for battles where you have to defeat enemies I'd say Rabbid Mario, has the ability to pull enemies in and deal massive AoE damage. For battles where you have to reach an area or escort somebody it'll have to be Luigi. Yoshi in combination with Rabbid Mario is amazing because Yoshi has long range and his buff abilities are amazing, either you use Egg Beater (similar to Mario's Hero Sight) or you can Super Chance making it so that everybody has a 100% on their Super Effect abilities. Rabbid Luigi early game is very useful with his shield ability because it makes him immune to super chance effects from enemies (burns, honey, etc.). Those will have to be my top picks. You're always stuck with Mario so no choice there and then it comes down to who does more damage once you unlock them.
With current routing/strategies not so much in my opinion, the only thing that makes Rabbid Luigi ok for end game is the multiple dashes but enemies are typically not in range to utilize all those dashes, even with pulling them in with Rabbid Mario. So if you take that in to consideration in combination with his weapons not being that strong compared to the other characters Rabbid Luigi is at best ok for end game. The shield immunity is less useful later on since most of the time you are able to defeat the enemies before the burn/honey/stone/ink/freeze effects become a problem.

That all could change of course if I somehow find more free time than anticipated so there is a tiny chance but for now I'll have to so no. Plus there are lots of other games I want to try out as well, I recently got myself a Wii that is GameCube compatible sooooo I'd sooner expect stuff from that. 👀

How did u get the pixel weapons at the sand area?
If you have purchased the DLC then you have the pixel weapons in your inventory by default and can equip them as soon as you unlock the Battle HQ.

That's awesome! Good luck in your attempts and thank you for the kind words. I love to see how you do and if you can come up with anything new. I've routed both categories by myself and spend a lot of time on it but I'm sure I probably missed little things here and there because I know one person alone can't find everything there is. With that said there are some parts that I already have some ideas for when I decide to come back to run this game again, plus there are some goal times I still want to achieve in both categories. But for now I'm taking a break from the game and learning other games to speedrun, Ratchet and Clank for the PS4 is one of them, I'm currently learning the 100% category for it.

4-3 is why i stopped playing this game
my first play through 4-3 took my roughly 8-10 tries to beat. level is bonkers hard against certain strats. 2nd play through using completely new team (SUPER underestimated rabbid mario - turns out when you play around his AOE and don't shoot your own team he's much better) - just completely crushed it with the song and hammer + marios power up.

Yep, I’m in the speedrun discord and saw how the one that beat it progressed I told them they’d get it for sure and tried to give them the confidence to go for it. I’m happy that they managed to do it and funny enough in the exact timeframe I told em they would get it.

Yeah I'm excited to see what the game has to give. It looks like there will be more freedom in general which I think is a nice change of pace, which in turn will make for more interesting routing when it comes to speedruns. Can only hope for the best at this point but I have faith, especially from what I've seen and heard.
Also i am really impressed by your speedrun how did you do find each combinaison for each fight ? You have tested each fight with multiple technique to see if it works ?
@@thomashawk5788 Pretty much yeah, I looked at who and what have the highest damage numbers at what ever point in the game combined with the options they have available in the skill tree plus how effective/efficient they can deal that damage while trying to keep resetting the skill tree to a minimum. Which helped exclude a number of possibilities, from there trail and error and testing out what works and what doesn't trying to eliminate as much RNG as I could to make most of the fights consistent. On top of that finding the skip helped me with that because it helped limit the options even more, almost forcing certain choices.
*Edit: Funny thing now that I think about it and remember my process, I spend more time outside of the game thinking of ways to make fights faster/how to clear them than I did actually playing. But of course I did end up playing a lot especially when practicing to refine those ideas/thoughts.
@@zinicspeedruns and i dont understand after the skip to the world 2 why do you go back to world 1 ?
@@thomashawk5788 Unfortunately to unlock the skill tree you have to beat the mid boss in 1-5, so that's why we have to go back after doing the skip. I tried looking for other places to get it but the game seems to have it forced to unlock only there (even after beating world 2 without skill tree).

When somebody feels like doing it I suppose, I'm not the one to do it. My limit for longer speedruns used to be around the 3 hour mark but now a days I don't have that luxury anymore so its down to around 2 hours max.
I wish who ever goes for it the best of luck, and if they want they can check my list of glitch/skips I was able to find that are useful for gold file.

So I’m guessing the Yoshi’s are the worst in the game speed running wise
The Rabbid Yoshi is terrible yes, from damage output to abilities/skills the other options are just better. Regular Yoshi is actually pretty good and is used near the end of the run since it unlocks after the mid boss fight vs Bowser Jr.
zinic who would you say are the most useful characters?
Depends on the objective but for battles where you have to defeat enemies I'd say Rabbid Mario, has the ability to pull enemies in and deal massive AoE damage. For battles where you have to reach an area or escort somebody it'll have to be Luigi. Yoshi in combination with Rabbid Mario is amazing because Yoshi has long range and his buff abilities are amazing, either you use Egg Beater (similar to Mario's Hero Sight) or you can Super Chance making it so that everybody has a 100% on their Super Effect abilities. Rabbid Luigi early game is very useful with his shield ability because it makes him immune to super chance effects from enemies (burns, honey, etc.). Those will have to be my top picks. You're always stuck with Mario so no choice there and then it comes down to who does more damage once you unlock them.

With current routing/strategies not so much in my opinion, the only thing that makes Rabbid Luigi ok for end game is the multiple dashes but enemies are typically not in range to utilize all those dashes, even with pulling them in with Rabbid Mario. So if you take that in to consideration in combination with his weapons not being that strong compared to the other characters Rabbid Luigi is at best ok for end game. The shield immunity is less useful later on since most of the time you are able to defeat the enemies before the burn/honey/stone/ink/freeze effects become a problem.
