    Great video. My surprise walking around old Palermo was that some streets were so small I was sure I was on a sidewalk until a motorcycle drove by. So I would tell tourists to be extra careful walking around and never think you know it all. Expect surprises. I felt very safe the month I spent in old town. I loved that my Airbnb was close to the sea, street market, and lots of great eateries.

    No.1 precaution. Don’t drive a motorcycle like me.

    If you are idiot, anywhere you go problem finds you, but if you are cool and you know things, no problems.
    People often forget that they're tourists anywhere they go except home. If you go to Palermo and you act like a idiot or you dont respect culture and land, well...
    Even home you gona get f if you are like that. Sicilia, Campagna and Calabria are something else. I lived in Palermo 2.5 years. Was visiting also Naples in Campagna, Crotone and Reggio di Calabria in Calabria
    provence. I love Italia. Best people and best land in world for me. Soon im gona return. If you respect em, nobody and never gona give you hard time. Even more, they gona protect you like their own.

      I'm totally with you on this one-couldn't have said it better myself. I've traveled a lot for work and spent tons of time in places that are technically considered dangerous, like Lebanon, Brazil, Mexico, and so many others, and honestly, I've had some of the happiest days of my life there.
      Like you said, it’s all about respecting the place and the people, not acting like an idiot. Sometimes we think that just because we can get away with acting a certain way at home, we can do the same everywhere we go, but that’s not how it works. Every place is different, and it's on us to adapt, show some respect, and just be aware of the culture we're in. It’s not the place that has to adjust to us. Keep your head straight, and you'll be fine anywhere

    Been binge watching on Sicily for a few weeks now, planning to stay 3-4days in Sicily in December and take the train ferry combo to the mainland.

    Going to Palermo shortly, how would I know a good area from a bad area when booking a hotel. They all mention how central they are only.

    I like your style. My family is from Sicily and moved to NYC long ago. I'm interested to see where the family is from. The advice you give us the same advice I would give anyone travelling to NYC or any city

    Is it a straight walk from central station to vucciria as I have paid for accomadation beside central station in October...?

    • @WeArePalermo
      @WeArePalermo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's a relatively short walk from the central station to Vucciria. Just keep in mind that the central station area might not be the best place to hang out late at night. However, with the right precautions, you should be fine

    Would recommend a visit to Villa Malfitano for anyone who has the time while there.

      Ciao Nick! Villa Malfitano is definitely worth a visit if you've already covered the major attractions in Palermo and have some extra time. This hidden gem offers a unique glimpse into the aristocratic life of the late 19th century. The villa itself is an architectural marvel, showcasing intricate designs and craftsmanship. The surrounding gardens are a peaceful retreat, offering a variety of exotic plants and a tranquil atmosphere. It's a perfect spot to experience a different, more serene side of Palermo, away from the usual tourist paths. The villa's art collection and historical significance provide an insightful look into Palermo's cultural heritage ;)

    thank you for this great information it has helped me so much. Would you say the area Loli station in Palermo is safe please?

    • @WeArePalermo
      @WeArePalermo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ciao! it is generally considered a safe area. However, like many places, it can become a bit desolate late at night. As with any city, it's always a good idea to stay aware of your surroundings, especially if you find yourself walking around late in the evening.
      If you have any more questions or need further information, feel free to ask

    Do they try to snatch phones 📱

    • @WeArePalermo
      @WeArePalermo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ciao there! No, they don't try to snatch phones. It's just kids who take advantage of distracted visitors, they are not aggressive or violent. You usually don't even see them when you get robbed - they are incredibly quick and stealthy. They will simply take something out of your pocket if it is left open
