There are so many wild ways to take data from an air-gapped PC. There's the method of encoding data into fan sound, using the ethernet card lights to blink data, now using gyroscope data, it never ceases to amaze me how people cleverly manage to steal data from airgapped machines.

The air gapped hack has one thing about the bits per second overlooked.... Fax sounds. The original dial up used a form of compression that turned tones into 4 bits and error checking to let more bits per second as it represented more than one actual bit per second. The gyroscope may be able to do it in a bigger bit length, say 6 or 8, and allow that 1 tone per second to actually be as useless as a 600 baud modem was compared to what we have now.

This is actually one reason why bot killing is so hard. Bots will also report legitimate accounts as spam. This makes training algorithms much harder, since their data is full of false positives.
On top of that, one thing a bot will do is basically do 50% political posts, then 50% spam. Then the people that remove bots are slowed, since there is a strong pushback to delete fairly political accounts. This is why it was found that 19/20 of the top right wing Christianity Facebook groups were run by spammers and bot farmers. It gave them a cover that stopped them getting banned on Facebook, because Facebook didn't want to look like they were deleting religius accounts.

On the air gaped research, I wonder if it would be possible to leverage multiple 'mediums' of covert transfer at the same time? Certainly could get quite complicated, but if you have machine broadcasting over ultrasonics, sata em emanations, led blinks, etc that gives an attacker multiple angles for exfiltration. Could perhaps provide high band width to and allow for error checking via cross referencing.

so essentially these are bad exploits that can lead to terrible things being leaked but require pre installation/physical access to said air gapped pcs.
this essentially means that the probability of this happening is close to 0%. you would need employees who work at the targeted facility to be bribed into being a state actor against their employee possibly committing espionage if not high treason to their country of origin.
if that individual is caught you' have to pre plan an escape plan from their country into yours so they coudn't be arrested and tried back in their home country.
only way these hacks happen at important facilities is if they decide to turn against the military or government by the power of another mititary/government which most people aren't willing to go against.

Cheap computer speakers are not capable of producing ultrasonic frequencies and audio codec chips aren't either. There are low pass filters on the output as well. SATA cables have shielding on the outside surrounding the wires that carry the data. There needs to be for data integrity. The ethernet LED method is even more ridiculous. Not all ethernet sockets have LEDs and the way in which they blink is different depending on the controller.

  • @maxfmfdm
    @maxfmfdm หลายเดือนก่อน

The speakers and entire system would need to ve capable of transmitting ultrasonic which most airgapped systems would not. A sample rate of 48khz for example has already lost some quality by 20khz. The speakers could be unable. The crossover or the amp could filter ultrasonic as well.

You seem to miss that WW2 was started by Nazi-Germany & Soviet Union altogether, also SU tried to ride Finland.
I can give a very detailed description of all the crap Nazi did, but the amount of harm caused by SU was comparable!!!
Eastern Bloc was result of WW2 - and it was de facto 45 years of Russian occupation for those countries.
After fall of Eastern Block all the members that only could joined NATO ASAP.
Nobody forced them, nobody asked them... 😁
      Unfortunatelly Ukraine "could not"...
And I bet the "being part of the Soviet Union experience" 😈 was for Ukrainians traumtic enough to be unwilling to re-join Russian Federation
Under MOB leader Вова (Poo-tin) there would be no Ukraine, NB Hitler's dream!!!

After 19 years since the beginning of the invasion of Iraq, has the West forgotten this war?
The Iraq war is said to have resulted in 1 million deaths the difference is russia have weapons of mass destruction
A message to the future generations never make russia feel threatened
the difference between "looking dangerous" and "being dangerous".Russia
describes military doctrine as defensive military doctrine. With regard
to nuclear weapons specifically, Russia reserves the right to use
nuclear weapons: in response to the use of nuclear and other types of
weapons of mass destruction against it or its allies,in case of
aggression against Russia with the use of conventional weapons when the
very existence of the state is threatened
Russia has the World's Largest Bomber
As of 2022, the Federation of American Scientists estimates that Russia possesses 5,977 nuclear weapons, while the United States has 5,428; Russia and the U.S. each have about 1,600 active deployed strategic nuclear warheads.
Russia has the most nuclear weapons of any country, at 6,257. Of these, 1,458 are active, meaning they are already deployed, 3,039 are available (can be deployed if needed) and 1,760 are retired (out of use and awaiting dismantlement
How do Russian nuclear weapons compare to the rest of the world?
    Russia - 6,257
    America 5,550
    UK - 225
    France - 290
    China - 350
    Israel - 90
    Pakistan - 165
    India - 156
    North Korea - 40
When you tell the truth it's always gonna be controversial.

Never forget who's the real threat to the world !!
Who have killed more people in last two decades ?
    America or Russia
how many people have been killed and wounded in Iraq since the 2003 United States invasion. However, we know that between 184,382 and 207,156 civilians have died from direct war related violence caused by the U.S., its allies, the Iraqi military and police, and opposition forces from the time of the invasion through October 2019. The violent deaths of Iraqi civilians have occurred through aerial bombing, shelling, gunshots, suicide attacks, and fires started by bombing. Many civilians have also been injured.
Because not all war-related deaths have been recorded accurately by the Iraqi government and the U.S.-led coalition, the numbers are likely much higher. Several estimates based on randomly selected household surveys place the total death count among Iraqis in the hundreds of thousands.
Several times as many Iraqi civilians may have died as an indirect result of the war, due to damage to the systems that provide food, health care and clean drinking water, and as a result, illness, infectious diseases, and malnutrition that could otherwise have been avoided or treated. The war has compounded the ill effects of decades of harmful U.S. policy actions towards Iraq since the 1960s, including economic sanctions in the 1990s that were devastating for Iraqis.
Despite more than $100 billion committed to aiding and reconstructing Iraq, many parts of the country still suffer from lack of access to clean drinking water and housing.
