    finally, a channel that is just professionally educating people instead of trying to push legislation to knee cap search engines or some crap. I have been interested in privacy for YEARS now, and this is genuinely the first time I have seen a video that is professionally made, well explained, AND not trying to push an agenda, just trying to educate. We need more content like this, content actually explaining things to people and educating them instead of just trying to legislate problems out of existence while keeping people in the dark on the actual nature of the problem in the first place.

    • @killabite620
      @killabite620 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      if this is the first time youve seen an un-biased educational video on tech then youre looking in the wrong places

    • @robonator2945
      @robonator2945 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@killabite620 no, not really. Even channels I like clearly biased, Naomi Brockwell for instance I think explains things excellently and is more or less factually correct, but she also does show her bias in a lot of places. I personally agree with that message behind that bias, but there have been a few times where she has said something or pushed something that had some factual inaccuracies, then defended them even though they were factual deficiencies. Of course, on the times where she was corrected on something PRO-privacy, such as the legal state of self-incrimination for biometrics not being set in stone, there was no challenge. You can tell in a few interviews as well but I cant remember those clearly enough to make an example. Now, for her case and a few others, even in spite of this bias I think what they say is more or less accurate, but it does mean whatever they say you really have to examine.
      A recent video from another privacy advocate whose name I can't quite remember was saying something disastrous about privacy in the title, but it was actually about private companies not being forced to uphold your right to freedom of speech, which is not only an entirely different topic, but he also self-contradicted in the video. See his video was about how bad this was that private companies wouldn't be held to the same restrictions as the government and this needed to be fixed (a sentiment which I disagree with but, hey, he hasn't presented his evidence yet) but towards the end of the video he said something along the lines of "if companies aren't restricted in what they do with my data, I won't let them have it" which, yes, just don't let them have it, how is this an issue? I'd call it fear mongering, but I genuinely think some privacy advocates are just too invested in the cause and end up losing the bigger picture.
      As I said before though, someone simply having bias isn't fatal, both of the people I referenced still get information right most of the time, they just tend to be dismissive towards alternate interpretations or facts. This CAN be dangerous, but by and large isn't a fatal flaw so long as you look at what they say skeptically. In contrast however, this video never appeared to take a clear stance on the issue, and just described it in detail. While this does mean some people might walk away wanting more legislation, it also means that those people came to that conclusion on their own, and many others might simply realize they need to take steps to protect their own online privacy. It's used as a derogatory now due to just how biased many news sources are, but the word bias itself isn't some damning thing, it just means that the information presented always has a tilt. So long as enough of the board is presented that you, as a viewer, can identify that tilt, it's not really fatal. A bit annoying, but not fatal. It's really only an issue for people who click on the video passively and don't really think much about the issue before taking a stance, because those people are far more vulnerable to whatever tilt may be present.

EEFIs (essential elements of friendly information) have long been used to suss out classified details from publicly available information, so the various intelligence agencies have been 'poisoning' public information for many years. I think this is a good method, along with some advanced identity methods, akin to credit-card chip authentication, to prevent the release of personal information. Didn't find out as much as I expected, guess she doesn't "live" on the internet like some computer-face people. I've often creeped out several online friends by googling their usernames and finding old accounts from when they were a kid, although I know too well they could easily do the same for me (haha).

    I watch the VDO and what I see is how people can protect their information when they need to work or communicate in social networks with fairs of chance. You can search for Emily's information and find the groups of the same activities or occupations or different contrast for example but some questions are specific you need her to answer and confirmation that is what is she thinking about how it originated.
    I see information protect policies and filters application can be applied when people searching or directory someone from the Internet.

      old comment.. but you missed the obvious analogy. It's like walking around trying door knobs to see which ones are unlocked.. minus the threat of anyone seeing you doing it. The lesson is indeed obviously don't leave your door open. But it's probably just as true in real life as online that too many people don't bother.

      My opinion is different. Literally, all apps and websites have "doors that are open." The degree that it is open is different.
      A really hard to unlock website for one person may be easy to unlock for someone else.
      But, it's just my opinion. People have different opinions and that's okay. Your point of thinking is also nice 😊

    This gentleman manages to make two serious errors in a simple Google query resulting in poor results and low numbers. it's not:
    intitle: webcamxp 5
    which reads as
    intitle: AND webcamxp AND 5
    so Google will search for the keyword 'intitle' instead of the keyword IN the title. The query should be like:
    intitle:"webcamxp 5"
    No space after the colon, and webcamxp 5 as a phrase to make the space behave as a space instead of a Boolean conjunctor.
    Additionally, I'd advice to use Shodan for this type of queries.
