Pete Cowan refers to everything as the delivery position- where the club parallels the ground a millisecond before impact - ball position at address is vital - amateur golfers generally have the ball way too far back and instinctively hit far too much down on the ball - nice description- some good points here
Brilliant details about Cowen Basics - very helpful - it changed my game after looking over 12 years for the best feeling and results in playing golf. Keep going....
I'm an (overly) passionate single figure golfer and tried pretty much every swing thought over the years and naturally have huge variances in results - however, I've just recently gone back to the simplest greatest one tip (for every player) probably ever given, by the late great Harvey Penick - his "magic move", and I'm playing much more consistently again... and broken down I think your vid / Pete's instruction is basically the magic move... good stuff - I like the tip about rocking the driver clubhead from centre to the ball at address too👍
Does Petes "hand rotation" work here in the same way it does for irons? He talks about from the top, the hands will start to rotate down towards the ball in a compressed fashion. I know we dont compress the driver but curious if that move works here? It looks like around 4:40 you are doing it so I wasnt sure!! Please let me know!
Excellent explanation Andy on how the transition is different for the iron than driver. I like the way you brought "tilt" into the equation when talking about the driver. I've been working on the tilt as well as dropping the right shoulder down, keeping the right elbow tucked into my right side. I've tried positioning the driver a clubhead behind the ball at address in order to achieve the upward swing to the tee ball. This is still a work in progress! As always Andy, Well Done!!!
Hi Andy, so you are not trying to rotate your hips? In other words if you get in a good top of backswing and start down by pressuring into the ground without the shoulder rotating out, the hips will naturally clear when they need to? When I try and copy this move, I am not getting as open as you are so I'm assuming maybe my backswing is wrong
Still working hard on the transition using the drills from your previous videos but looking at my swing in slow motion it's definitely my lower half causing my shoulders and arms to to get infront of my body and causing the club to get too steep. Have you any drills to help prevent the lower half from moving towards the ball?
Learn something new every day haha... Set up is 90%, I still have problems when tee box is angled or slants so feet are either below or above the ball. Mulligan is king...
Personally I feel the push down from hands, to arms, and shoulders but you need to find what works best and brings the club to the best delivery position
@andycartergolf I want to work on feeling more of a handle pull feel I believe. Just on practice swings it feels like it's faster and less guided if that makes sense.
Learnt is also the past tense of the word learn. It's just that in North America "learned" is commonly used. Whereas in the UK "learnt" is frequently used.
You tell us to start the swing by driving your arms straight down but what keeps you from driving the club directly into the ground unless you are moving your body forward??? There is no room to clear
Its a feel not a literal movement. Your body will start to transition and rotate towards the target Most golfers get stuck with shoulders following hips hence my explanation

This is the best video for understanding how the body moves to deliver the driver into the ball, and I have watched a lot.

Great explanation Andy! It would be great if you could teach us the follow through, when crossing the right hand over the left one
An absolute banger! Did you know I start my putter transition with a right shoulder down move too 😊
Great explanation and clarification for something I am working on. I'm off to the range in a short bit to put this into practice.
Clever message Andy on lowering the right shoulder. This entire session is helping me on what I've been trying to learn. Thanks-Russ
Very helpful driver tips.. Can't wait to try it out at the range

Harvey's books are gold well red and green. Great lifetime golf knowledge.

Very well explained regarding weight . I tended to bump rather than down . Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
awesome video Andy! helpful as always!
Awesome. Ty from the US!
I stumbled across your video. My transition with the driver has been in disarray as of late, so I will give this a shot.
Hope it helps, if not send me your golf swing on Skillest and i’d be happy to take a look

you are becoming a major force on youtube!
It’s true! The videos deserve a lot more views. Hopefully they help everyone who watches though!

5:45 LOL
When you rotate the club head to the ball in the address do you have the ball in the centre of the club head?
Always!
Andy when Ur starting your backswing do you concentrate on your right or left shoulder, or does it vary?
I concentrate on keeping my left tricep connected
@@andycartergolf ok thanks
What shaft is in your driver?
I love that your thumbnail makes Pete look like he has a mullet.
Hahaha i hadnt noticed until now! Great spot! Pete suits the mullet
Steep swingers don't understand that the right arm releases down instead of across with a turn. Feels like you straighten the right elbow at the ball
Truth 👊🏽
Superb 😂
Enjoyed the video, pity about some of your viewers small minded comments on the grammar.
My comment was made in good fun . Maybe it was your small mind that interpreted it meanly.
I thought you went mazuno was that irons
Just got them in the irons
Is there a difference you feel if you're pushing the handle or pulling it which is a better feel?
Personally I feel the push down from hands, to arms, and shoulders but you need to find what works best and brings the club to the best delivery position

Hi Carter , is it learnT or learnED ? Maybe it’s the way you spell it in England. Just wondering.
UK is learnt , USA is learned!
Definitely learnt.
@@andycartergolf , well I learnT something today .
@@chrisreid1136 are you in UK or the US ?

I thought Pete had a mullet going on in the thumbnail pic. It’s a tree behind him 🌲
It’s learned in English ,spelled and pronounced but the English language is evolving at a fast pace these days so learnt is ok too😂
My own language is confusing!
@@andycartergolf sorry Andy wasn’t meant for you it was a reply to someone else! Great vid as usual though 👍
Learnt is also the past tense of the word learn. It's just that in North America "learned" is commonly used. Whereas in the UK "learnt" is frequently used.
It's not evolving, it's being degraded due to low education standards.

More Pete Cowan click bait. 😔
Im filming with him this week
