    Will you be adding LEDs Brian?
    I think the standard motor/prop is fine for climb outs and gliding back down on a 1500 3s. That's how I use it if there's no wind on the slope.
    I know you like to zip around down low, so I understand the upgrades for that.
    Just took mine out the other day for first time in a while. It is so nice in the air. I like how the wings bend in flight and the whistle it makes. I think it's very realistic.
    I put proper hinges on the ailerons/flaps and have them mixed together on the tx for more authority.
    I also use crow braking when landing. I've found using lots of rudder is the key to steering under crow. And just use the ailerons to maintain level.

      rossimessi1 Absolutely! I agree with everything you said!!! This is my second ASW28 and totally agree, especially with Rudder control (as with most sail planes)!

      rossimessi1 As for lights, yeah, I'll be adding lights, since this plane is a keeper!

    How do i put on the spinner prop Brian?? I just got my ASW28 and idk how to tighten on the prop to the shaft, any tips or how to? thanks in advance

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you watch the build, I'll show how to do it. Should be a nut and a collet...The collet will tighten as you tighten the nut, thus grabbing the prop shaft....but I honestly can't remember on the ASW28....it's been a while.

      @@BrianPhillipsRC Thank you!!!! I totally blanked on thjat and i realised the way to do it after staring at it for a bit. You're the best thank you

    Brian, Great videos. Curious, not that it you have had it for while, what battery is your goto battery, and 3s 2200? and if so where do you place it and have you had to add weight to the tail to get correct cg?

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Turnigy Heavy-Duty 2200mAh 3S 60C, and I just have it all the way back, ran into the wheel well, and I get the CG very close without tail counter weights

      Good luck! It's a great plane.
      P.S. Sorry for the slow reply. I've been super busy with work, and the house build...should calm down soon.

    Is the glider strong enough for loops and mild aerobatics , fast flight (dives) etc ?

    Can the framus plug into the Johnson Bar to adjust the RX and CG?? Please hurry, I want to fly. tnx

      @@BrianPhillipsRC I'm poking fun, Bro. You were talking way too fast for me to follow. I never have used timers or battery readers or stabilization or even Lipo and it looks like you are on top of everything out now in the electronics department including FPV and there are way too many new terms. Talking slower would help. Crow I guess is slipping with cross control?? I have flown RC gliders since 1972 but usually just rudder and elevator on slope. Doing the ASW28 now. Used to have an Astroflite ASW15 with ailerons and mechanically coupled rudder and it ws my best ship ever. Really a floater at the bluffs and would really get altitude when the wind was right. Thanks, Paul .

      Sorry about the acronyms. ....I understand your frustration, since I'm still fairly new to a lot of this myself.
      As for Crow, it's when the ailerons act as Spoilerons (both pointing upward, but still acting as ailerons), and the flaps are deployed as usual, pointed downward. This aggressively slows the plane slow down, even when pointed down. It's pretty amazing the level of control authority you can realize with such a setup.
      You're probably a lot more disciplined, as a pilot, for NOT having all these bells and whistles.

      @@BrianPhillipsRC You're an aerodynamicist!! There actually was one flying at the bluffs where I used to do my gliding in Long Beach, California. To me crow sounds like crab, which to me is a cross control or slip to lose altitude fast. I learned that when I got a pilots license for sport flying an experimental airplane from a kit, ie a KR-2 and then a Quickie for a friend. I guess you can do the crow with mixing on a more advanced radio than my Spectrum DX6i. However I'm still super stoked about flying my ASW28 with my cleaned up wings and power and flaps/spoilers, ie up and down on the flaps. Those squared off trailing edges add 11 sq in of drag so I'm am sharpening them down and putting covers on all the gaps too with a thin film white plastic and tape. In the past I had an Astroflite ASW15 with mechanically coupled ailerons and rudder and she flew like an absolute dream and was a floater with a high glide ratio. I think ASW28 will be considerably heavier and faster even with my clean wings but I'll wait and see. I'll be looking to milk the lift wherever I can find it here in Thailand and shoot scale like landings. For that I'm thinking of putting some stiff wires out on the wing tips to cut the drag when the plane slows to drop a wing. I notice they usually crank a turn at the end even on a very smooth landing.

      @@BrianPhillipsRC Another thing, in your opinion do the red wing tips really add anything to the performance? They seem a little crude to me. I'm thinking of making some tapered extensions to the wing or running it bare too.

    Am getting mine ready, have removed 150 gm of weight already, crazy heavy pilot and tray, flap servos (flaps are useless on this type of glider) the wheel and housing, carbon fiber rods on the flaps. Am disgusted at all the 1/8 " trailing edges, easily fixed with a sharp knife. Will also fill all control gaps. Mine has a warped canopy, the mounting needs to be re-engineered, have ordered 2 extras--will also tint grey. I will carve a proper fitting spinner.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC

      You will be annoyed to see that the CG will probably require extra nose weight now ;) I hope I'm wrong, for your sake. This plane is great flying, but she won't be a high performance glider...if you want a better platform for this, I'd encourage you to start from the Phoenix, or even the Conscendo Evolution...
