Hi B , I plan to use a 2200 3s and also a tail cam on top the horz stab . I've made a dummy cam the same weight for testing but also removed the wheel and the foam block ,plan to have a ply strip in the bottom to hold the battery . Good flight and also the grip points on the wings good idea .Noticed its hard to hold on when fitting the wings . Thanks Graham .
I get you'll be fine for CG, but you might actually have to move the 2200mAh 3S lipo FORWARD of the wheel to get CG to work out. The wheel is very close to the CG, so if you remove it, you won't chance CG tons, but you WILL add tons of space and tons of flexibility for cargo payload ;)
Hi Brian, your series of videos of this beautiful plane is really great, lots of useful ideas in there! Could you please make a closeup picture of the wire which you have wrapped around the elevator servo horn in order to remove play, and maybe describe how you did it? I have the same problem, and I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go flying they way it is right now. Many thanks!
Good question! I believe you will find this answer in my BUILD series on my second ASW28. I'll see if I can find you the playlist... th-cam.com/play/PLXTH0DstRDc5gwAcvxziWIb-HcRqQoQWU.html ...but I can't even recall doing that exact mod. It might have been on my FIRST ASW28.
yes, she is good!!! It's a Samsung Galaxy S7, and we're thinking about getting into a Samsung Galaxy S9 next...but it's kinda pricey right at the moment, so we may be holding off until we're out at our new house. I'll pass along the compliment! We're pretty lucky she's involved ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Do you use a separate mic for audio? I made my first test video at the field but the sound - my voice - was barely audible from my OnePlus 5T.
No, we just use the stock phone mic, and this is one of the areas that I've heard some complaints about here on the channel. I don't hardly do any video editing, just a little splicing for when the recording ends, and the very, VERY occasional cut, if I let something, not-so-family-friendly slip out ;) Other than that, it's a press record and GO!!! We pause occasionally, but that's all the more editing that we do... Some people record on another phone, using their "ear piece" as their lav mic, but I don't have video editing software, OR the time to edit sound clips into my videos. Maybe some day :)

Hey Brian, love your videos but you have SO MANY for the ASW 28. Are you using the stock motor? I just built mine and for the weight of this glider it "Feels" really underpowered, I'm afraid to take this thing out for its maiden flight. I'd like to purchase a new motor with a little more power that would fit so I don't have to modify anything, what would you reccomend? I've been doing RC on and off for several years but I'm still not as educated as I should be. Thanks so much.
I agree that the stock power system isn't fantastic, but I've found the ESC and prop to be the weak part link, rather than the motor. Also, the motor is kinda hard to find a suitable replacement for, due to it's mounting location, in my opinion. I've always used the stock motor for this reason. If I were pressed, I'd get a motor rated fro 4S and I'd go with a 40Amp ESC (minimum), and I'd like a 12X6 prop or larger...but to be totally honest, this IS a sail plane, so if you're staying true to it's design, you don't really need a lot of power, since you're really just kinda dragging it up to altitude, only to glide back to the ground (hypothetically). I'm like you, I want power. Power saves lives (and awesome RC planes) :)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for the reply! So, if you don't know of a suitable motor replacement, I should replace the ESC and prop? I'm sure somewhere in your videos it will tell me what to get? Sure do appreciate it man!

hello Brian, nice plane I recently bougth one because your videos. My problem is that the engine starts running until the throttle stick has reached 50 of the total travel. I have not been able to solve this problem, any suggestions
You need to recalibrate the throttle range. Usually, you can just plug in the lipo with the throttle stick all the way up (which sounds dangerous, but it will take you into the ESC menu), then simply lower it to 0% when you hear the "song"... BUT ...I'm not 100% sure on the Volantex Stock ESC. If you recall, I replaced this ESC with a YEP ESC on my ASW28. Please be careful to ensure the plane is secured, and FULL prop clearance is given. IF you have ANY doubts, take off the propeller first.
As to your FIRST question...I didn't add any tail weight, but I DID replace the stock servos with "13 g" Emax servos, which would have added a little bit of tail weight. The 2200mAh 3S needs to be WAAAAYYY back to CG out, if you have "pat" (The pilot) in the cockpit, so keep that in mind :)
I was thinking about that, but then I was thinking of all that messy stuff getting everywhere...to be honest, I know it would work, but just don't want the mess. Thanks for the tip, maybe in a slightly different application, that'd work better for me
