I'm a photographer but I've only done engagement/family/seniors and strictly natural light. I'm due August 23rd with my first and obviously given that I'm going to have basically free access to a baby, and 12 weeks of being at home, I'm definitely going to try my hand at newborn photography. Your videos have by far been the most informative! I've got so many props and all the set up I need and can't wait to test them out! Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to teach others your art.
I love the built in frame, I’ve since added some foam to the top of it, but I also love how easy it is to Store and that I can sit on the floor and not get back pain from the bean bag
Yes! Einstein; follow the best lighting guide I’ve created that will help you NAIL your lighting techniques momtogeducate.com/products/j-lighting-tutorial
I just started watching your video and they are soooo helpful. I have started newborn photography but I have overhead lights and get awkward shadows with the ceiling lights plus my moonlight. do you always shoot with your room lights off and use the 1 light as the source only? (p.s. I also have a decently huge windows coming from the opposite side of my mono light that I have sheer white curtains and blinds closed) any Tips?
Yes lowest setting. Yes it’s the Einstein. I think this video covers more details: th-cam.com/video/g8g2jjUej5I/w-d-xo.html That umbrella was the 86” PLM but I recently switched to the 64” PLM and I’m enjoying the results very much 😁
Hey thanks for this video it will help me a lot . I have a quick question when you are taking a picture u see a flash going out. Is there any other flash in the room ? What is the light setting ? TIA
So I use the Einstein from Paul C Buff... The model lamp is on so that I can focus, and then my triggers sync the light to flash with the shutter button
I’ve never had that issue because I use a top quality light with a large diffuser. The light bounces off of the umbrella onto the baby. There is no direct light facing the baby. Also I have the light unit on lowest setting. I’ve never had an issue. So many of my clients are nurses and doctors and they’ve never saw an issue either
that dogbed looks perfect! Are you using a continuous light and a flash? I see the big diffuser that stays on, but am also seeing a flash so I was curious. Thanks again for these tutes!
Diane Lauren the way the Einstein works is there is a model lamp that stays on. And then the triggers sync the camera shutter to the light and it flashes when I hit the button. Check out the Einstein from Paul C buff
@@momtogeducate oh ok! I work with mostly natural light so studio lights are a bit out of my comfort zone, but wanting to learn about your light set-up it looks amazing! thanks for your reply!
@@momtogeducateThank you again for such a great tutorial, I really think you are the greatest teacher! I thought that it is just the light without flash. Why you have to use it with flash? It is not enough for good exposure?
Be cautious of the heat of continuous light,,, you don’t want to have too much heat pointing directly towards a newborn. An Einstein or alienbee is best because the model lamp stays on for focus and then the flash tube fires when you press the shutter button. So it’s not overpowering the newborn
Just found you and love your videos:) may I ask what temperature do you have your studio at? Do you change temperatures when wrapped and when naked? TIA
I turn the heat on, the temperature is always changing. I warm it up for an hour before session and then I wrap up baby and start session with it warm, and then I turn the heat off and turn on the fan... the temperature levels out again and I turn the heat back on. My room is very warm.. But i especially have it warmer when baby is naked
Can you provide a list of where you get your equipments, please ? Such as the bean bag, or surface that you lay the kid on and the fabric backdrop that you are using. Thanks.
Awesome video, appreciate it...been binging on all the videos lol....can I ask how did you extend the backdrop on a dog bed? Do you use pvc pipes to extend up?
Yes it is loud 😬 but I guess I wanted to show you real lessons... so that you can see how loud the white noise is during a newborn session. And that yes, it does help 👌🏻
can i just say, you are THE MOST helpful newborn photographer I've ever watched.
