I heard from another TH-camr that Scuf hasn’t made the NOMAD controller compatible with Android because they still have programming to complete since there is such a wide variety of Android devices. However, Scuf actually reached out to them and said they were currently working on compatibility for Android in the future.
I mean... It sounds a bit easy to say for them to say now if being honest, yet Scuf literally printed on the box that it is Apple exclusive, only works on Apple devices. If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on Scuf not being satisfied with the sales, so it is bringing closer the Android software development to be able to tap in a huge market as soon as possible. It's already discounted, it's not moving much units... Sounds like it's not the outcome they were hoping for so they have to make it more revelant. If I was in their shoes, I'd do the same so nothing wrong there. That's not to say Android was never on the roadmap, I'm sure it is but by their own admission on the product description, it wasn't a goal "yet". So assuming that this TH-camr did get that info from Scuf, it would say their plans recently changed and that's good for Android users.

As someone who plays on Switch, Steam Deck, Xbox, and PS, now the Scuf Nomad. I am disappointed with the Scuf Nomad because unlike the other controllers you didn’t have to bend your right thumb so tight to reach the X,Y, A, and B buttons. The buttons are almost vertically symmetrical centered that you bend your thumb in the shape of an open square, vs a Nintendo Switch Joy Con which is has the layout in the opposite orientation. On the Joy Con your thumb bottom joint sits perfectly on the the stim of the joint, and with a slight simple pivot the tip of the thumb has an open space to press the buttons on top, in a shape of a slightly curved line instead of a open square. Reaction time is everything, but the dropped the ball on this.
I hear you, I also think the issue you are describing wouldn't have been as blatantly obvious if the sticks would've been smaller. But much like I mention near the end of the video, I think this controller does have a very obvious customer that they are catering to, so reducing the stick size would've been counter productive. But I totally get where you are coming from and I can agree that it doesn't lend itself well to some titles.

Well said! I also think that this is probably a more suited financial decision to insert themselves in a market that is in rapid growth. Once they have a foothold, I’m sure they‘ll expand. Exactly like Backbone did. I don’t blame them, I get it from a corporate POV, even if it’s not ideal for all consumers.
Sometimes it’s not a matter of scheming. They may only have the budget or internal resources to guarantee a reliable experience on iOS and Mac. They could have invested solely in Windows, or solely in Android. But they chose to follow MFI guidelines and knew that their product would work without a hitch on anything Apple. If they release for Android, that means doing QA for Android, and tech support for Android, and taking a hit with negative reviews when someone’s random Xiaomi doesn’t work with their controller. Maybe they didn’t want to support when Windows 11 installs the wrong driver as Windows likes to do strange things. All this to say, sometimes it’s easier to “deactivate” support for a certain platform than deal with the cost of supporting it. I can’t say for sure this is the case, but I’ve seen it done, and I get why they do it. A lot of internal resources are spent making sure a thing “just works” when you plug it in or connect it.
Be it hardware detection, or just hardware correction through MFi, there has to be a collaborative effort. Maybe Corsair negotiated reduced MFi costs in exchange of exclusive support. Scuf is synonymous with competitive gaming and we can all agree that Apple is making more and more effort to corner that market. But here’s another example for you, Elgato. Only the iOS version of Stream Deck Mobile offer 5 free persistent icons, on Android its « pay up or nothing ». I don’t blame them for doing so, they are keeping who they believe to be the strong partner in their tighter circle. @@GameTechTalkBut it is compatible with IOS without the app? Im just interested of turning bluetooth and playing with it, pretty much like a dualsense controller
@@psp4gamer Yeah it does, the app just extends your experience but is by no means a necessity.
What a shit move to make it iphone only i am a loyal scuf user for many years and they just screw me up that i use android ? No scuf for me 😂
Apparently they are working on adding compatibility for Windows, so I've been told but I haven't seen anything official to back up the claims.
@@GameTechTalk they can say anything but i dont believe those false promises after 2 years they will add android because there will be much better controller out there at that time so when they lose customers they will decide to add android but no one will buy it then cheap ass company with cheap services F scuff gamesir g8 plus beats this controller any time any day I wanted this controller but happy I decided to go for the g8 plus Galileo
Hehehe...
Indeed... Any Company that offers some 3rd party Accessories for Ios... Always goes straight for the W.alle.T... Trust me... There's plenty of Ios Devices owner / Gamers outhere begging for Apple to release their own mobile controllers... So.... Any time Someone says, this is reserved to Ios Costumers, many will buy it... No questions ask...
🙃🤣🧐🤓🤯
I don’t like exclusivity like that. At least Backbone was able to hide behind the connector at first, whereas Scuf is just Bluetooth. No reason to but oh well.
@@GameTechTalkI know right...😎
great product but apple only support = 🤮
Weird move from Scuf, unless there was a great incentive, my money is on: « There was one fo sho! »
Apple is overpraised.
I certainly will not disagree with this statement.
I know you’re still growing and become your own brand.
But I really hope one day you become like Flossy Carter and exist out of the sponsorsphere.
Where he buys what he reviews and gives a real review.
He does accept sponsors and devices they send to him, but he makes it clear it’s THAT kind of video and tells us to wait for the REAL review.
I really can’t take a video where a brand sent someone something, seriously.
So I really loved this video so much since I’m thinking of buying the Nomad myself.
I’ll keep it in mind. I like his content, don’t know that it’ll ever be my style but I get what you’re saying.
@@GameTechTalk yeah, I didn’t mean his particular style.
You’re unique, just like he is unique.
I meant, I pray you grow enough to get the freedom to always give your honest opinion.
I mean, I have a friend who’s grinding too and sponsors are the only way to keep grinding he says when your in an early stage.
It’s inevitable, until one snowballs enough to break free from the silly system TH-cam has to promote sponsored content. Even people like UBT, LTT or even MKBHD I watch with a grain of salt, I just feel cheated when they talk good about something I know by first hand that has big flaws. Like the Rabbit R1 videos.
@@Chris.Morales I greatly appreciate what you said. Thanks for elaborating and thanks for wishing for me to find this level of success. What you say, I’d really love to do so rest assured, I’ll keep growing and give it all I got to always get closer to that reality for the channel, for the viewers. Thanks for being here, it helps towards that day to manifest itself!
@@GameTechTalk I have faith on you, just like I had with Flossy. It’s been a crazy ride with him, been watching 10+ years and seeing my old comments telling him what I just said to you now become a reality, it’s awesome. So I now that the feeling I had when first seeing you, is the same I had when first seeing him. Your style, personality and genuine aura let’s me know you can do great things if you keep hustlin’. It ain’t easy, but it’s worth it. Keep on shining my guy!
Also, if you ever buy stuff to review and then want to resell so you can cover at least some of the cost, let us know, I’m sure lots of people would like to get their hands on some of those gadgets even if they’re second hand. One man’s garbage is another one’s treasure. 🤠
@@Chris.Morales Fawk, I woke up to this comment. It got me emotional my guy. Means a lot, thanks for believing with me!
