I think that reaching out to state agricultural groups that represent beef ranchers, chicken growers etc. and getting their voices to their congressmen will help move this argument forward. Here in NC there are hundreds of beef , chicken and hog operators that will be heard, respected and considered. Grassroots efforts with producers will help this effort gain attention.

I'd like the main stream media to get out to the regenerative farms and show how much wildlife has a home on those prairies along with the cattle, sheep and goats. When livestock is moved it a manner that the native grazers were allowed to the land is alive with millions of species. Growing monocrops not only makes mass death at every level the product has made the majority of humans sick and dying at an every younger age.

Your conclusions are spot on. I think the government needs to go at least one step further than guidelines at this point. Removing tge conflict of interest problems and then developing a quality set of guidelines is obviously the initial need. Once that's in place, they need to begin the process of identifying ingredients that are problematic and getting them OUT of the supermarkets completely. This is part of what I hope Kennedy can get done in the next four years.

.. I want to ask you about commercial chiken, as I have been using it personally in the keto treatment plan for more than 6 months due to its cheap price and my current inability to have red meat in my country.. For example, in terms of calories, I choose the one with a very good percentage of fat... But what worries me is that commercial chicken is known to take pills and receive antibiotics, which increases the percentage of omega 6 in it, which exposes me to the risk of inflammation.... Is this true... And if so, does it have a significant effect on my recovery or is it good despite that? Please respond to me, as I am confused

    • @metabolicmind
      @metabolicmind  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

Good questions. In a perfect world, we would all eat grass-fed beef raised in a regenerative ranch or pasture-raised chicken free from antibiotics. But we aren't in that perfect world- at least not yet. So we often say don't let perfection prevent you from success. People can get into ketosis on fast food burger patties and will likely still see the same, or similar, benefits as if they ate organic, grass-fed, etc. So if someone's goal is nutritional ketosis, most experts don't worry too much about how they get there. As for the omega 6s in chicken, I feel we need to put that into perspective. Those are more naturally occurring omega 6s (same for nuts or fish), and not the same as cooking in seed oil or eating ultra-processed food fried in seed oils. So, on the whole, it is likely going to have minimal impact. But the good news is that we can test our inflammatory markers, and follow our metabolic health markers, so we can know for sure if our nutritional intervention is having the desired effect. We hope that perspective helps!

Whole foods isn't the whole answer. If a person eats whole wheat bread with organic honey he will be fat, overweight etc. What's important is the content of the food: get rid of starch and sugar first. Which means dump bakery, bread, spaghetti, pizza, potatoes, honey, organic sugar, fruit juices etc.

When I read comments on nutrition from a variety of different sites, it is clear that a vast majority of people do not have a clue as to what they need to do to regain their health. The food industry, big Pharma and the department of symptoms management has done a beautiful job at confusing people such that they really don’t know what to do nor where to start? IMO Dr Robert Lustig would make a great surgeon general.

I don't see the why behind this headline because we've already been programmed with this message for all or most of our lives already. I put on Gilmore Girls the other day, just for kicks, and what do I hear in the very first episode (from the early 2000s), from the character that owns a cafe and is serving the two "girls" their hamburger: "You know red meat will kill you." I think that dietary recommendation should never be made to anyone because our microbiomes are so diverse you cannot possibly "know" What is right for each individual. Each person needs to test on themselves. Have a day where you eat nothing but meat, test all of your health markers. Are they better? Even once you believe you have found a way that works you have to retest it every so often because our microbiomes change!!! I personally have noticed that I cycle through many different dietary changes when I do this. Lately I've practically been vegetarian and I have been focusing on dairy proteins and very little meat, just before this I was heavily meat-based, years before that I was almost exclusively vegetables. I go to the doctor and I get my blood tested, and then I adjust my diet as needed. 👏

I had always been carnivore, but it was never called that , I just loved farty meat. I was thin, strong and healthy.
That also was back when I trusted the medical system. Thinking I was killing myself I switched to more if a plant based diet. Smoothies, salads , nuts , beans and all that
I gained a lot of weight and was ALWAYS hungry and craving!
I am back to meat based , ketovore. With bouts of lion ,and I feel great! I am healing but at 57 the weight is stubborn and now with so many chiefs and few Indians, I find myself confused as to what to eat for my height, weight and age
    Idbe happy with 155 to 160lb .
I am fairly muscular, but have severe misalignments which hinder my explosive and constant energy level. I must be careful due to over developed quads.
I am seeing a corrective chiropractor and have achieved great success .

My doctor has said it’s not a great idea from that point of view and WFPB is pushed very heavily in terms of microbiome health. I definitely feel better on lots of meat and much worse on vegan sources of protein - I’ve tried WFPB and it definitely doesn’t do me any favours health wise.

I was just looking at a new paper yesterday comparing the muscle protein synthesis (MPS) response to 4 oz. beef patty compared to soy-based patty. 8 oz of soy-based patty was needed for an equivalent MPS response. As we age we become anabolic resistant (requiring larger protein loads to stimulate MPS which translates into higher protein requirements per pound of body weight). I’m a retired dietitian and it breaks my heart to see the ill health of my friends who have long avoided animal protein sources. It’s not a head-scratcher why there are epidemics of sarcopenia, osteopenia and osteoporosis, and (of course) insulin resistance. I'm guessing the epidemiological studies he was referring to included the Adventist Health and Mortality studies. They compared Adventists who ate meat to those who did not. All Adventists tend to exercise and abstain from smoking and alcohol. They are taught that their bodies are a temple and eat a relatively healthy diet that either includes meat or does not. Even after adjusting for confounding variables this very high sample size study over many many years found that those Adventists who do not eat meat live longer and healthier lives.

    • @davidsparavec8996

Read that study. And I can tell u as an Adventist it’s a total crock. Most Adventist eat tons of their processed foods such as nutmeat, vegelinks, so good, etc. they also promote and use seed oils in their processing. Currently, they are filling the San hospital with heart disease, cancer, and the rest. And let me tell you, watching around during a sermon, the church is full of obese, arthritic, and anything but healthy people. It’s clear to me that the health message has been totally captured by the processed food groups.

The more meat people ate the less all cause mortality, heart disease and cancer they got. The authors reversed that observed finding by fraudulently changing the numbers with dodgy statistics.

@@magnessskippton2509 The Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) provide nutritional advice for healthy people and those at risk for chronic disease. The guidelines recommend:

Eating a variety of foods: Choose nutrient-dense foods from all food groups.

Limiting unhealthy fats: Avoid too much fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol. The DGA recommends that saturated fat make up less than 10% of your daily calories.

Limiting added sugars: Limit added sugars to less than 10% of your daily calories, starting at age 2. Avoid added sugars for children under 2.

Limiting sodium: Limit sodium to less than 2,300 milligrams per day, and even less for children under 14.

Limiting alcohol: If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. The DGA recommends that men limit their alcohol intake to 2 drinks or less per day, and women limit theirs to 1 drink or less per day.

Eating fiber-rich carbohydrates: About three-quarters of your daily calories should come from fiber-rich carbohydrates, such as fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes.
