so satisfying to see someone learn little by little, i was literally playing like you do, you'll learn their moves and predict their next move to land the tcs in the future(the 3rd charge big damage attack). i got to the point where i can regularly finish all my solo farming hunts under 5 mins. get slugger and focus skill, really useful for multiple knock outs, they will not be able get up lol
20:59 The fact you didn't learn anything about weapon crafting/upgrading,armor upgrading, or what decorations even are until *_after the Nergigante fight_* should be clear cut proof why the Guardian gear should never be touched. It teaches very bad habits and makes actually learning Monster Hunter's gameplay loop completely pointless until it's far too late to unlearn said habits. I'm glad you've figured things out and understand better, but there is a good reason why so many people are against the use of Guardian gear. Keep up the good work, dude
@@dekucake 🤣🤣 totally. its been a struggle to relearn alot of that stuff. honestly it let me float until endgame. The thing is, iceborne content gets to a point where its so challenging, you cant get away with not knowing how to play. honestly by Barioth, I had to say to myself "okay I actually have to learn stuff, optimize my gear and really really learn the fights" I think there are pros and cons, but when I started playing Monster Hunter Rise, I did make sure NOT to use the bonus gear for that reason. I wanted to savor it especially being a smaller game
@@dekucake but you are def right. its also worth noting that I also played this game pretty much blind, I didnt watch any tutorials or really get any source of info from a third party, which also wasnt wise. at least until I started live streaming, then I got alot of info from some viewers
bit late to the party, but just wanted to say that I fell into the same guardian armor trap, and now I'm able to play some of the games hardest challenges on my own. The training wheels don't ruin the game, even if it teaches you bad habits, and I can guarantee that by experience. long and short of it is that everyone needs help sometimes and that's okay :3
Great comment! I totally agree. Once you get to Iceborne, you have no choice anyway and you gon learn today. There are certain bosses (for me, Barioth) that simply wont allow you to be a noob lol I dont think it ruined my experience, but if I did it again Id probably not use it just to get used to set building earlier. I appreciate your comment
Notice you can roll out of the end of each your GS attacks, and the shoulder tackle lets you tackle THROUGH monster hits, as well as skipping a GS overhead. So sprint into a quick overhead, shoulder tackle, then fully charge your True Charge Slash to level 3 and release. Or you could fire a slinger burst in place of the shoulder tackle.
Gotta say this was AMAZING to hear and see. For a ton of new players outgrowing the defender set is a hurdle they cant or wont get over but if you do the game js SO rewarding. Also mad props.on GS ive been a monster hunter vet for ages and never clicked with the weapon. Good hunting brother, hope to see you in wilds
Thank you! I appreciate the praise. I did start to get my butt kicked alot in Iceborne and got very frustrated but never gave up. The defender gear for sure spoiled me, but I think I eventually learned and will keep learning. Even playing Rise has helped me understand the fundamentals of the game I think
cool to see how someone else going in blind does it. enjoying these vids of yours. i started playing at start of this year and put in 168 hours myself. swaxe main. first big wall i hit was velkhana and the second was furious rajang/raging brach. looking forward to seeing how you deal with those! i resonate with what you said about the defender gear, it was a crutch and i dont regret it, but at some point you just gotta get good to keep playing. cheers!
God. Wasting a True Armor Sphere, which is the highest grade sphere on a High Rank piece made my soul hurt. That's like wasting 1750 points that could have gone towards a Master Rank piece. Ouch. You donxt get many Trues, no matter how much you play.
Looking back Rise is so much harder than world. World they give you huge openings to attack. I’m in master rank on rise and the monsters will literally combo you out if you get hit once
interesting! I started playing Rise too, I only have 30 hours in rise. Do you think its because its faster pace that its harder? or maybe even less room for big openers
@VonClaytonGaming That's awesome. My 2 cents, if you don't mind: the Great Sword relies greatly on being able to charge its attacks, especially the TCS, True Charged Slash, at the end of the combo. Charge that to lvl 3 and you'll really see the numbers go up
@@dreamsbeyond2300I apprecaite that! I finally learned that eventually, maybe halfway into Iceborne, I know its crazy to see. I got into the habit of charging the last slash. I appreciate the feedback! (I suck at this game) But I did just pick the game and up and hop into it
I think thats fair. I understand how it makes things easier, and perhaps too easy, but I still got destroyed, plus armor can only help so much and by the time I hit iceborne... you have to learn 😅
As others have put it, its there for returning vets to skip to Iceborne, its comparatively god mode, i dont think anyone was shaming him so much as lamenting how he was shooting himself in the foot, its not just that it makes the game easier, which, mind, is bad because it allows you to build bad habits unpunished, its that it actively discourages you from interfacing with key mechanics and even the core gameplay loop, you never need to grind for gear, visit the smithy, learn how to build your set, or really learn any of the monsters or weapons in the first place if you use it which makes the game infinitely harder later on when the defender gear falls off and now you suddenly do need that stuff and any bad habits you picked up while nigh invincible are way harder to drop than they wouldve been to avoid gaining in the first place
they put defender gear for players that already know how to play monster hunter(which honestly don't need it) and want to speedrun to iceborne content. it's not meant for new players at all. I mean this whole video was a showcase to all the bad habits he should've left back in low rank. it shows the lack of knowledge he would've needed to even get to the nergigante fight. he didn't even touch the smithy until he got bodied by nergi. there's a reason players keep on critisising capcom for adding the defender gear and guardian armour. clayton here was a good example. heck some players even quit the game altogether once the gear stops being effective cause the face a huge wall they have to overcome.
wanted to pitch in as well, i agree with the previous 2 comments above. People don't discourage the set because they think you have skill issue if you did. They discourage it BECAUSE it gives you skill issue down the line. Base mh game is meant for the immersion, iceborne just ramps difficulty, so if you started out with godmode on the easiest part of the game, what do you think will happen later on when the game becomes hard enough that it forces you to learn what you didn't learn back when it was still trying to teach you things. It's like going to a fighting game tournament and you only learned to fight AI just mashing buttons instead of fighting same leveled opponents to teach you better. The chances of you quitting will be even higher as now the game expects more from you, when you could have improved little by little along the way. The defender gear are for veteran hunters that dont wanna bother with base game and honestly they dont even need it.

I'm not sure if it was intentional but you had open mic for nergigante xD
I think I had open mic in alot of my sessions for a long time xD

Anyone else lowkey frustrated by the fact he never charges his GS strikes? 😂
Glad he knows bow it works now (or rather by the time the video was made)
