This performance of Chopin's Nocturne Op. 48 No. 1 is nothing short of extraordinary. The artist's profound understanding of the piece is evident in every note, capturing its emotional depth and dynamic contrasts with unparalleled mastery. The opening's solemn gravitas transitions seamlessly into the stormy middle section, where the technical brilliance shines without overshadowing the piece's soul. The return to the lyrical conclusion is executed with such tenderness and nuance that it feels as though Chopin himself is speaking through the piano. Without a doubt, this is the definitive interpretation of Op. 48 No. 1-an artistic achievement that sets a new standard for pianistic excellence.
The best performance of this work I've listened to...(and I listened to a lot them)... Her performance of the Coda is torrid and steamy as it's meant to be.
My heart is full of pain and tears flowed! There so much feeling in it! I am crying when I listen to this! I am crazy about Chopin and this interpretation is the best one I have heard!
I 'm also crasy about Chopin, allways crying when listen to this and other nocturnes of Mr.Frydrich. Love absolutly love. She is very passional and brilliant musica bravo
A ona czuje Chopina doskonale.
This is the best interpretation of this piece that I have heard. It is even better than her rendition on her CD. She puts so much expression, passion, and soul into it that I feel a little embarrassed to be intruding on an intimate moment.
Jim McMahan Of course. She was more expressive in the video, than in the CD. There is a lapse between both. But both are wonderful perfomances of this Chopin Nocturne.
@@2ndintelligentWorld I suggest it's an inaccuracy in the heat of the moment rather than a wrongly learned chord. She is human after all, there is much pathos and poetry in her playing.
Born Chopinist. One of the five or six musicians I deeply adore: The genius Jacqeline Du Pré, the great pianist Khatia Buniatishvili, the wonderful pianist Hélène Grimaud, the wonderful opera singer (Norma, Casta Diva) Montserrat Caballe, the once in a time contralto Kathleen Ferrier, and Valentina Igoshina.
Maybe it’s not the most accurate representation but it’s the best interpretation. Btw I like female pianists play Chopin and Debussy. When I was younger I thought male pianists have so much more advantage playing piano but now I like listening to female pianists, their music are so sensational.
tteera beats Because I was young so I loved all very technical and powerful and virtuoso pieces, I thought male pianists are physically better on managing those ones. Now I love the pieces with very deep emotion.
Jim Wells e hehehe .The picture is also important part of a live performance. Her breath, her movement, very emotional. Some pianist even sing the tone while they playing. If you know nothing about art, please study more.
Jim is right in saying that the face has got nothing to do with Music. Music is purely auditory, visuality has no place in music. And I do study art at the university. This is my favorite performance, however I have to scroll down in order to focus on the music and not be distracted by the eroticism, especially at 4:14.
I know what you mean about the 4:14 moment, but you can see she is just one with the music. As she said in another video interview, "Chopin is in my soul and lives with me all the time".
Agreed - i was lightly researching this. Apparently some editions have written the polyrhythm slightly differently. People argue this way isn't the most correct but - i think it sounds the best. I keep coming back to this video 10+ years because of how she plays the Doppio section. any other versions sound far too choppy.
Some 19th century circles advised against maidens listening to the Nocturnes as they would stir some primal pelvic reactions. At 4:14, pretty sure V got there.
@@fabscudI think it’s the tiny room allowed to classical musicians to improvise and she just nailed it. The intensity of those chords without an accompanying top note fits perfectly!
If only a fraction more pace and impetus in the early stages, a sense , however subtle, of the glorious avalanche to come, so that the parts connect, and one has been carried all the way, only to be buried to come alive
A Musical Diary, By Christopher Carter. Savannah, Georgia. Savannah State University. 1:25 a:m. May 1st. 2023. Inside My Dorm Room. I love this piece of music. I figured out something today. You can get intellectual revenge on society by studying and working really hard. Of course this is vain. Becoming a doctor just because society treats you poorly is stupid. regardless, i plan on getting intellectual revenge on the devil and all my accusers by using my mind like Valentina uses her fingers on this piano piece. Did you guys see the anger in her face towards the end of the video? That’s because she’s sick and tired of the world and decided to master it as a way to tell everyone to back off. She uses her mind as revenge. Regardless, I will do this too. My brain may explode though. Scratch that off. Its not right. All vengeance is wrong.
Pretty good but Lisitsa's version is on another level.... This girl is very good at playing what's in front of the score sheet. Also a decent actress... And of course, young and pretty...
Oh Valentina, the soul of Chopin is inside you in these moments!
The best interpretation I' ve ever heard.
Best perfomance ever of that nocturne... thank you Valentina! you made me cry
If half your soul is Chopin, then the other half must be Rachmaninoff. Thank you for pouring yourself into an outstanding rendition of this Nocturne !
Kudos not only to the performer, but to also to the fantastic camera work, lighting, etc...
Best version I've heard🙌🏾👑 all hail the queen
Hail the queen!
Endorsed !
Listen to the version by Valentina Lisita... these ladies have a sort of competion who can peform this nocturne the best...
@@cheeseandonions9558 Lisita is excellent also ; but her doppio movement feels too rushed for my liking 😅
Oh..., Valentina, no one is at the height of your skills. This song is beyond music, it's intertwined feelings, tangible ones.

This is so well played that im listening to it from years now ... And still think its the best. Pure passion
My favourite one so far. She performs wonderfully! These feelings are genuinely familiar.
a beautiful rendition, and this gentle conclusion at 5:30-5:40 is mesmerizing
This is the best interpretation of this piece that I have heard. It is even better than her rendition on her CD. She puts so much expression, passion, and soul into it that I feel a little embarrassed to be intruding on an intimate moment.
Jim McMahan The CD player may take away some of the passion. The rendition is the same on the CD, and here.
Jim McMahan Of course. She was more expressive in the video, than in the CD. There is a lapse between both. But both are wonderful perfomances of this Chopin Nocturne.
+Jim McMahan Indeed, she conveys an almost orgasmic ecstasy.
+Meredith Foster Indeed. I couldn't agree more.
BRU-TAL. Stunning. One of the best performances of this piece I’ve ever heard
Divina Valentina Igoshina!!! Bravo!!! Gracias Mollypixmix por compartirlo!
A performance worthy of standing with the best, yes I'm talking Rubinstein, Ashkenazy, Pollini etc!. She should record the complete set.
mistake at 3:58 and others..
And there are performances without mistakes (ie without wrong notes) - they should be great ones but often, they're not.
listen to argerich

When you really think that Rubenstein and ashkenazy are the best you should reconsider how much value your opinion have.
She is awesome! I've just ordered the DVD: waiting with great impatience!

Superlative performance of this - the greatest of the Nocturnes.
Haven't seen this clip in several years. 4:15 still gives me goosebumps.
I am moved beyond words by Valentina's brilliance.

This version is almost perfect, but it lacks the little Polish "lilts" that Chopin often included in his music... Lisitsa always includes them.
