Valentina Igoshina - Chopin - Nocturne
Nocturne in C minor, Op. 48, No. 1. This is taken from the documentary 'Valentina Igoshina Plays Chopin'. A wonderful and enlightening documentary and one that should be seen to be really understood

This performance of Chopin's Nocturne Op. 48 No. 1 is nothing short of extraordinary. The artist's profound understanding of the piece is evident in every note, capturing its emotional depth and dynamic contrasts with unparalleled mastery. The opening's solemn gravitas transitions seamlessly into the stormy middle section, where the technical brilliance shines without overshadowing the piece's soul. The return to the lyrical conclusion is executed with such tenderness and nuance that it feels as though Chopin himself is speaking through the piano. Without a doubt, this is the definitive interpretation of Op. 48 No. 1-an artistic achievement that sets a new standard for pianistic excellence.
BRU-TAL. Stunning. One of the best performances of this piece I’ve ever heard

Chopin's soul shows Valentina how to play! beautifully!
Born Chopinist. One of the five or six musicians I deeply adore: The genius Jacqeline Du Pré, the great pianist Khatia Buniatishvili, the wonderful pianist Hélène Grimaud, the wonderful opera singer (Norma, Casta Diva) Montserrat Caballe, the once in a time contralto Kathleen Ferrier, and Valentina Igoshina.
Great Chopinist
I love you, Valentina. Beautiful woman, body and soul.

If half your soul is Chopin, then the other half must be Rachmaninoff. Thank you for pouring yourself into an outstanding rendition of this Nocturne !

A Musical Diary, By Christopher Carter. Savannah, Georgia. Savannah State University. 1:25 a:m. May 1st. 2023. Inside My Dorm Room. I love this piece of music. I figured out something today. You can get intellectual revenge on society by studying and working really hard. Of course this is vain. Becoming a doctor just because society treats you poorly is stupid. regardless, i plan on getting intellectual revenge on the devil and all my accusers by using my mind like Valentina uses her fingers on this piano piece. Did you guys see the anger in her face towards the end of the video? That’s because she’s sick and tired of the world and decided to master it as a way to tell everyone to back off. She uses her mind as revenge. Regardless, I will do this too. My brain may explode though. Scratch that off. Its not right. All vengeance is wrong.
I cringe reading this hahah😂
Sounds like Old Dog Tray to me.
Well my goodness.
❤
Pretty good but Lisitsa's version is on another level.... This girl is very good at playing what's in front of the score sheet. Also a decent actress... And of course, young and pretty...
This version is almost perfect, but it lacks the little Polish "lilts" that Chopin often included in his music... Lisitsa always includes them.
The only Chopin nocturne which doesn't put you to sleep.
A sensuous performance that could only be improved if she lit a cigarette for both of us at the end.
Fantastic! Not to mention she is the third pianist I ever heard who could play the Doppio Movimento right (with Claudio Arrau and Brigitte Engerer).
Agreed - i was lightly researching this. Apparently some editions have written the polyrhythm slightly differently. People argue this way isn't the most correct but - i think it sounds the best. I keep coming back to this video 10+ years because of how she plays the Doppio section. any other versions sound far too choppy.
This is so well played that im listening to it from years now ... And still think its the best. Pure passion
Wow, very nice, and I am very picky..
4:15 that look was beautiful 💕
Wow! Excellent!I like your interpretation 👍🏻
Oh Valentina, the soul of Chopin is inside you in these moments! The best interpretation I' ve ever heard.
Kudos not only to the performer, but to also to the fantastic camera work, lighting, etc...
My favourite one so far. She performs wonderfully! These feelings are genuinely familiar.
Maybe it’s not the most accurate representation but it’s the best interpretation. Btw I like female pianists play Chopin and Debussy. When I was younger I thought male pianists have so much more advantage playing piano but now I like listening to female pianists, their music are so sensational.
May i ask how you came to thought that male pianist had a advantage?
tteera beats Because I was young so I loved all very technical and powerful and virtuoso pieces, I thought male pianists are physically better on managing those ones. Now I love the pieces with very deep emotion.
wow, amazing pace 5:04
5:03 to 5:06 oh yeah
Painfully slow
Lento, then Doppio Movimiento, then return to mystical dream
Ms.igoshina can a nigga get your number?
Best perfomance ever of that nocturne... thank you Valentina! you made me cry
So enchanting!! Just WOW!! Subscribed...
Her performance is so passionate and intense. And my God, her eyes. I fell in love.
Inspiring! I'm starting to play it thanks to you!
Superlative performance of this - the greatest of the Nocturnes.
Some 19th century circles advised against maidens listening to the Nocturnes as they would stir some primal pelvic reactions. At 4:14, pretty sure V got there.
Haven't seen this clip in several years. 4:15 still gives me goosebumps.
0:50 Her freaky twin dangling from above :O
Beautiful.. she and her play
Oh..., Valentina, no one is at the height of your skills. This song is beyond music, it's intertwined feelings, tangible ones.
My heart is full of pain and tears flowed! There so much feeling in it! I am crying when I listen to this! I am crazy about Chopin and this interpretation is the best one I have heard!
Absolutely!
I 'm also crasy about Chopin, allways crying when listen to this and other nocturnes of Mr.Frydrich. Love absolutly love. She is very passional and brilliant musica bravo
Chess Tauren Harsh! 😄
A ona czuje Chopina doskonale.
anyone know where I could find the documentary this video is from? would appreciate any help
The best performance of this work I've listened to...(and I listened to a lot them)... Her performance of the Coda is torrid and steamy as it's meant to be.
