You have no idea how gifted you are to be able to keep up that technical banter, without a stammer. I am absolutely proud and mesmerized. You have a great future my Son. 🤩
You make the most wonderful videos, Jared. Loved watching almost every one of them by now. Your editing and music mixing skills are really "dope" as some of the kids in the USA say these days. (That means great!) I always love it when TH-cam presents me with a notification of another video from your channel.
Thank you so much! I really hope to increase the upload rate asap. I have so many film ideas so will do my best to keep them coming! Thank you so much. Also loved your explanation of DOPE haha!!
Jared thanks for the videos. I have a goal/dream of buying a yacht in the next 5 years. Your vlog has given me a huge insight into the crews. I’m hoping that makes me a better owner someday.
Great video mate, video quality in this was amazing. Haven’t seen a man overboard with an actual person before either, looks like a really well thought out course for new crew.
Hey hey Tom when is your next vid coming up? Or did you quit the whole TH-cam thing? I also love your videos been watching them on repeat when bored love the vlog you did to the maldives part one and two. Beach setup was on point.
Well done Jared, your best video yet. Good content coverage packed with value. Quality content will set you apart from the pack in your chosen field. Good stuff.
Hey Jared! Obsessed with your videos you make content that is so helpful for everyone wanting to get involved. Im looking at getting into the industry as a deck hand but I see that there's only guys in the course and you mention 'he/him' in reference to those who are training to be deck hands - is this a male dominated industry or is it genuinely possible as a female to do this also? Thanks :)
@@jaredwatney Hey you do good work, its awesome to see that there are these many people interested in yachting. Keep up the awesome work. Cannot wait to see what you have planned next.
Why Teak? Why not some other wood or even some other material? I see the same on many sailboats. Where the ribs on the deck are all teak. Especially with the kinds of materials available today, teak seems like a choice that requires a lot more care than other options.
Teak doesn’t splinter (or rather shouldn’t). It doesn’t have any knots in the wood like most hardwoods. It’s actually relatively easy to maintain if kept on it. It doesn’t get super super hot. Resistant to fungus in comparison to other woods as teak often gets wet! Hope this helps
@@jaredwatney yeah it's quite impressive to see. Going to Greece was a good experience but unfortunately I wasn't on such a big superyacht I was on a sailing boat but still great experience.
@@jaredwatney I'm going to be filming a few superyachts down in Greece in the summer so I'll pm you and we can grab a drink and go for a fly 😎 I'm @maritimefilminguk on Instagram 👍
Hey jared I Watch your videos since the beginning and I really like your work. I want to do something similar. But i have a few questions. 1. Why is ther a dutch flag in the front a the boat? (BTW i’m and live in The Netherlands) 2. How old do you need to be to work on a yacht 3. How much is the yacht
Dutch flag on the bow is the owners flag, representing where he is from Min age is 18 how much is which Yacht? Dutch flag one, Im not really sure but above 9 mil euros i would guess
Any thoughts on if safety glasses / face shield / dust mask and ear plugs should be worn when letting off the anchor???? No way would my workshop supervisor allow staff that close to that dust , flying debris or noise without personal protective equipment
I was told by my sailing instructor that its illegal to do a simulated man overboard manouver with a real person. Im not sure but I think that it would be quite dangerous with all boat traffic. What do you think jared?
Good Video but I think who every crosses there arms think they know it all and will get no where, it Might just because the camera is on them but I would ripe the a new a hole in all of them.
I have a problem with your MOB drill. The person or crew calling MOB must maintain eyes on while calling and also call and maintain calling of direction and distance to MOB until acknowledged by the bridge. The captain usually wants the caller to maintain contact even when the bridge has it. When you get to sailing vessels, this is even more important as it make take some time to come to a reciprocal course.
If I were to own a big boat like that my room would be off-limits to just about everyone all the time. First fuck up and you'd be fired. Simple as that.
The first step to producing professional looking videos...spell checking the spelling of the word experience before putting it in your title. Other than that, looking good
Good video, but if that man overboard was a real spinal injury, they would have been paralysed as the shoulders and neck were not suitably supported. In my opinion a full spinal back board should have been placed under her before being lifted out of the water.
How is security of crew handled, Background, other stuff. Surrounded by wealth and fame. How is the privacy maintained. What stopping you telling everything you learned about one family when you leave the boat. Tabloids would pay larger money for this type of information. Also theft and pictures of wrongdoing pay guests. Famous people and private actions. You know all the secret action yet are invisible. What guest is a jerk or one of the guys. What stopping you from telling all your secrets about everyone
Whats right and whats wrong... thats it. On some boats they make us sign non disclosure agreements but on some they dont. I have had SO MANY opportunities to make viral videos with the stories I have but wont because it goes against what i stand for
*What is a “silk box” @**3:06**? Did the trainer say silk box or sealed box?* But the term silk box sounds like it’s either a bed or a naughty term.🔞😆(Lol). I Googled the term but I’m not getting anything that looks like a match. I think when I first watched this video a year ago I thought they said sealed box.

Jared. Now I’m only thirteen years old but I’m really interested in this industry. What should I do about it
Help out at a sailing academy. Learn to sail, work at boats shops. Anything ocean / boat related will be help!
Thanks Jared really appreciate it
Killer video! Now I know more to do on a yacht than shoot a rap video
Thanks Jared, the kind of video i enjoy, could you make some mechanical vídeos time to time?, would be awesome, regards!
As a mercahnt marine junior engineer I must say that your work is more fun xD
There is plenty of boats that I am sure would love to have you man.

hey do all yachts need engineer onboard? or does it depend on yacht size or etc. thanks bro
Every yacht needs someone who is engineer savvy yeah! From a certain size, yes every yacht needs an engineer.

Where is the best place to apply for a job like this?
What brand are your Sunglasses?
Hey Connor. I have a few pairs all from this company. Quality product : www.pacificooptical.com?rfsn=2381398.66630
I'm guessing the oxygen tank at 8:07 should have been laid down or not left to stand wobbling on it's own?
Great video otherwise !!
is 35-40 too old to become a Deck/Stew? have 15 years hotel/bar/restaurant experience

2:27 $125 000 a week???
Yip to charter the yacht 🛥
Actually affordable in comparison to boats in the Med
Jared Watney lol I thought that was the crew’s salary 😂😂

$125,000/week is for the deckhand ... once you've completed the drills of course.

Anchoring operations BAREFOOT, Opening the brake far more than necessary. Terrible example.
