- We can race slightly modified Scalextric/Hornby slot cars on hand-made wood tracks, and often the small stock plastic guides can break and are not quite deep enough for the performance we want. So, I'm trying to create my own 3D printed ones out of PETG. Let's give it a go!

I had a project a friend wanted me to assist with. Thingiverse and some modifications to the STL files came to the rescue. There is a small plastic switch on some scuba equipment they owned that kept breaking. I started in "high strength resin" then recently moved to my filament printer. My "improved" 3D printed parts are lasting months longer than the factory switch. Once you start projects like this with your 3D printer, you are hooked. :)
Nice!
Looks like fun. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Thanks, Dave! Yes... my time-wasting opportunities continue to abound! 🤣
Looks promising. Hey that track looks familiar 😊
Let's see how the plastic holds up.
Nice Post.... Good job once again. Professional as always sir! Let me know if you have or can make a few so I an buy them for my Nascars..... Thanks again...KC
Thanks, KC! I'll try to have a handful of them printed for our next race.
I always wanted the slot guides to turn the front wheels into the corners, rather than dragging them.
That would look cool, yes.
Thank you for sharing. Those flags are really nice Stan, I hope you get the durability you want. By the way what's wrong with the EL switcher on your bench? Have a great day.👍
Thanks! Ha- good eye! That EL is fine. It is still on DCC not battery power, so it hangs out on my corner bench.
Hi Stan, Great video as always. 2 questions. Is your updated STL file available on thingiverse? What make and model printer are you using?
Thanks, Tom! I'm using the Ender 3 V3 SE. Haven't figured out how to make files available on ThV yet. :)
Thank you Stan for the quick reply. I'm sure you will figure it out.
