The "all-in-one" 3D printable storage system, ingeniously merging pegboard holes, honeycomb wall snaps, threads and nuts, shelves, brackets, and Gridfinity-style boxes. This blend offers an organization system that is not only versatile but also boasts a remarkable weight capacity and is cross-compatible with various systems.

In an age where literally everything is becoming ludicrously expensive, it's amazing to see you change this product to be free instead of paid. Good on you for doing this, and I hope it becomes a huge success for you. Great work!

Well I would much rather foster a community and creativaty than create a fracture in the maker space. I really hope it goes well too. Even if just 20% of poeple who use it gave $5 once that would be amazing.

@@Keep-Making I feel this is why Gridfinity has done so well. It's not necessarily perfect. But it's a really good base and it's open source. Which while open source isn't a magic wand, it's quite compatible with 3d printing community of designers. People just ran with it.
You've done some amazing design and prototyping work. I wish you luck monetizing your designs. It's a tough balance to strike. And for people that spend stupid money on printers and filaments were a bit dumb in not paying for designs.
I think if this has come out before honeycomb wall you'd have floored it. But being as compatible as you can with those of us who've already started with honeycomb and Gridfinity you'll make the "I'll try that" factor really appealing.
      👍👍

I think it's pretty fucked he tried in the first place when its literally just other open source projects cobbled into one project. Probably was threatened with lawsuits

I thought this was the case, then I quickly hit the "Supporter Part" paywall restrictions. You can't get certain parts unless you pay $5/month. So much for "free" 🤦

    • @namedjasonc
      @namedjasonc 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Just keep in mind that he said he used about 30 kg of filament, so this version of free probably cost around $600 ;)

Always thought the hexagon system was bad. I was about to say the threaded systems make more sense for strength, and you just had to then mention how there's also threads here. And a gridfinity-like storage system to match? Just perfect. Much appreciated that you're releasing this into the community instead of absurd attempts to clamp down on ideas that are easy to reproduce and creates pointless division.

    • @ColonelSandersLite
      @ColonelSandersLite 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

The hexagons are going to be really weak. Not a great idea.
Orient the hexagon board however you like. Imagine a load hanging from it going straight down. That load is transferred through the hexagonal grid.
With hexagons, there can be no continuous support in the direction of the load.
With squares, the load is always supported on both sides though the whole height of the board.
Edit - Take a look at a video called "Hexagons Are NotSoGreatAgons" for more detailed information.

  • @f1hotrod527

I think the base panels should be manufactured. It is sort of a waste to print such a large part that can easily be manufactured cheaply and modified. The accessories for the board should be where the printing is used.

Looks incredible, once I grow beyond my current WallControl panels, probably expanding using this!
I'll probably need to figure out some gridfinity adapters for bins, since I've already got so many things in that system. They can proably compliment each other well in different ways though. I've got a lot of travel cases printed for gridfinity already, so that might become on-the-go storage, and MultiBoard be workshop organization!

Have to admit it's so far the best concept by far.
Great to see it's not a subscription model. Definitely willing to support your work and to help extending the multi wall eco system.
I must say I've ditched HSW after trying it. But the shortcomings seem all too be addressed by multi wall while keeping backward compatibility. In example it being two sided or it being horizontal in all cases.
    Keep making!

Amazing! I'd love it if we could eventually get the panel sections mass produced using injection molding, seems like such a waste to run a printer for a week to generate enough panels to fill a wall when most people will just need a bunch of large identical parts. That's what prevented me from the honeycomb wall as well.

I don't know if you're the person to do it, but the thinking behind the design(s) needs to be a documentary/class/analysis to help other people think in such a clever and functionally useful way. if there was a book, similar to "the way things work" but covered the thinking behind some of these designs, i'd buy it as a reminder of how to approach design, as inspiration when I'm working on a mechanical problem, etcetera.

Wow, I’ve throughly gridfinity and honeycomb both had their issues. This might be the best one yet

I always do my best to listen to my community. Sometimes I can't do anything about it or things to line up but this time around I found a way 😁

Much better than honeycomb storage wall! The attachment mechanism of that system was seriously difficult

I was so happy to hear you say PLA. I was afraid you'd need ABS or PC for strength, and I just don't have a setup that can print those. I can't wait to try it out!

Ya I'm a PLA fan boy and I know that at the end of the day PLA is the way to go so everyone can get as much out of it as possible.

PLA is the strongest of the all you've mentioned, however with some drawbacks. Stefan from CNC kitchen has put some light to the strengths capabilities of the popular filaments.

@@sergtimosh The strongest? It has some beneficial qualities and can be very rigid but it is certainly not the strongest.

Personally, I'm printing anything that'll be under constant load out of ABS. It's stronger and most importantly, far more resistant to creep and deformation than PLA, PETG and even Nylons. I've run into enough problems in the past to never make that mistake on big projects again.
ABS/ASA is far easier to work with than people think. I have a Voron and other custom printers but I still knock out ABS on an old Ender 3 Pro running Klipper every day. You mainly just need a basic enclosure, a bed set to ~105C with a PEI surface and a nozzle around 250 C. Everything else is tuning a profile and keeping the PEI clean with a drop of acetone on a cloth (NOT on the bed directly!). Avoid using IPA for cleaning. Obviously keep the filament dry and try the "low odor" variants but still make sure there's some decent ventilation.
Once I learned how to print ABS, it's pretty much all I use and can lead to some beautiful parts.

@@JJFX- can you elaborate more on what is wrong with IPA as cleaning agent?

I just printed 3x hex panels and now am considering using this instead before continuing to print. I only hesitate because it’s new and seems minimally field tested compared to the hex wall

I was worried when I noticed the old video went from unlisted to deleted/unpublished. I just printed my very first HSW panel today, but looks like that will turn into a different project. Going to start grabbing some of your panels and seeing how it all works out. Thanks for the excellent design.
