    There’s a company that’s around the corner from my shop that we worked with in the past. The accuracy of their scanners is awesome. They market them for measuring purposes to multiple industries such as aerospace and automotive, however they are able to produce complex meshes that can be exported for 3D design. The scanner I was looking into for what I wanted was close to $159k!

    It’s awesome seeing the Datsun in digital form. Would love to see how close I got in accuracy from side to side!

      It's basically perfectly symmetrical left to right. I could have saved time and just scanned half the body and mirrored it in CAD. Technically the body is ever so slightly warped/twisted but I've had manufactured bodies that are WAY worse. That Trans Am for example is warped really bad. T-tops, fascia, and hood fit bad even by 70s GM standards. Since its pre-painted, I'm not sure how risky using hot water to bend it back would be. I'd be happy to send you the scan file for the Datsun if you want. The quality isn't great though but good enough.

      @@MakeItRC That would be cool just to see. Maybe I will make another one day, but I doubt it.

      @@wesmadebuilds681 Can do. If you can send a Facebook message with your email I can email you the .stl file.

    I am looking to do this for the old Nascar Truck Series Dodge Rams. They are beyond and expensive to get, so making the body would be a life changer

    genial Me gusta lo que haces. Quiero hacerte una pregunta este es el proceso que utilizan para hacer replicas de autos 1:18 como AUTOART ,AMALGAM,etc

    I bet this could work to scan the various parts of an N or HO scale gas station, the roof, sides, front, back etc. and then be able to scale them up to the model, diecast or RC scale size that you want to 3D print and build. With the 3D scan you would then be able to add more realism and other little details to the gas station to make one awesome diorama.

    Could you 3d scan a semi models, preferably a cabover with a roll back bed ?

    quick question, is it possible to build a replica 1:1 scale as a real car size out of scaled diecast model ?

    Nice video. Have you experimented using targets? In real world photogrammetry/lidar, targets are used to accurately tie multiple scans together. You can also measure between two targets in model to verify accuracy and scale.

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do verify accuracy but I've rarely found using targets to be necessary for my more basic applications. It would only help but I've been getting by with just putting models on the turntable for now.

    what software do you use for 3d design , and what exactly kind of software is it ? ( I heard things like cad , but idk what is it )

    My old phone used to have a feature where it would make a 3d model (head). Do you think this could work with a car instead? I would like to make my own model cars and i am starting to learn how to do bodies in fusion 360

    Do you have a video showcasing how you made the diy version of scanning? I could use one for a couple of projects I have in mind.

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately no. I made and stopped using that DIY laser scanner long before I started on TH-cam. I don't even recall where I got the plans, but I'm sure there's lots of info out there.

    How nice wouldn't be if it were possible to take the broschure images of the late 50:ies to mid 60:ies Pontiacs and print them out?

      It would be nice to create 3D models from 2D images as easy as scanning.
