    My lgs used to run blitz every week. Then, it was 3 times a month. Lately, it seems blitz is once a month. It's still my favorite format being cheaper/quicker, and if you know what you're doing, it can be very competitive. Blitz is probably the closest fab gets to feeling like Yugioh minus the "you don't get to play"... most of the time... we've all been high rolled by a kayo/rhinar once.

      @Sloopdoop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I've said this in replies a few times already, but I really do think Blitz ought to have a heftier banlist than CC to help balance things out in the format a little better

    • @supermarioblacktiger
      @supermarioblacktiger 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Sloopdoop for sure. Blitz is a lot quicker paced and more explosive than cc. A focus on the banlist would improve its image more and get it out of the "competitive but not competitive " zone. Sure, some will complain when they can't play broken combos anymore, but they can save that for LL blitz.

    If it wasn't for blitz I wouldn't have got into FAB. With a young family and single income shelling $$$ on cards just wasn't viable. Playing the local Blitz Armory and picking up some prizes got me to CC. Without blitz, I'd be solely focused on Magic still, and FAB wouldn't have my custom

      Blitz was where I started with too. I do wonder if they're going to use Commoner as the cheap onboarding format, and CC precons to funnel people into that

    Our local scene started from Blitz. By the second year, when peeps get enough cards to build their deck, everyone is going CC. Now we goad new players to start from Commoner (we had veterans build plenty of commoner decks for everyone to use). But yeah, blitz once in a while.

    • @Sloopdoop
      @Sloopdoop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Commoner and Clash seem like the best onboarding formats now, for sure. I do like Blitz, but it seems like once people build CC decks they don't want to go back

    CC is great. I 100% prefer Blitz. I know I'm not alone in that take either. LSS needs to have more premier / competitive Blitz Events.

      I enjoy Blitz as well. I'd love if they maybe ran a few more Skirmishes through the year and developed a decent sized banlist after tons of testing to balance the format a little

    It used to be the main format here for more than a year, but players slowly migrated to CC
    But now theres the problem where the same 6~10 players have complete decks and new players have a hard time getting to CC

    Been playing for about a year, blitz has never been real big at our store, the only time we run blitz is before skirmishes so everyone can practice. From what i understand everyone says blitz feels more competitive than CC bc you have less chance to recover from 1 bad hand or big play from the opponent and a smaller deck means that its more streamlined.

    It took me so long to build up the stamina to play several CC games in a row. As we become more enfranchised in FAB, it can be natural to forget some of the learning curves we all had to work through at some point. I was having the hardest time trying to explain about defense reactions being the only card you have to pay for in order to defend and how that didn’t apply to every other card type. I think Blitz is fine. Yeah, it might be less heralded than other formats, but that allows stores to forge more of their identity within a community. Some stores want to cater to pro players, some just want to have players and move product. Both of these types of stores can peacefully coexist and prosper within FAB.

    Blitz needs to become closer to clash imo. We have had a very great success running clash instead of commoner and blitz at my lgs, new players are happy and they can play with tuned decks for less than 50€, and old players have a lot of fun brewing and building their heroes.

    I would like blitz to be a singleton format. It limits the combo turns that make you have to block the rest of the game if your opponent gets their power cards first. The main problem with blitz is the non games because you can’t use you life total as a resource like in cc

    I am a bit of a hang-on when it comes to FAB, I like the game, I play it every now and then, but I am not really invested in the game per say. More so just following the content around it. And personally, for me, the Blitz deck collection is a complete bust. Sure, the storage box, playmat and boosters are nice, but I don't really care for any of them, that 12 dollar entry fee is just too good to pass up.
    But, FAB does have a really good track record when it comes to listining to the community, so hopefully 1st strike decks will be a good replacement.

    Blitz has become a numbers game now... Heroes just hitting hard fast.

  • @retrofraction
    @retrofraction 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Blitz is kinda a problem atm.
    There is a large majority of players that don’t like the variance that blitz has and regardless of the sideboard changes… they still don’t want to play it.
    LSS has been focused on CC and limited a ton.
    Which is why I hope to see a supplemental set that is solely focused on Blitz/UPF.
    The buy-in is gigantic for heroes like Emperor… like $500+ for the only Wizard deck in the format.

    • @Sloopdoop
      @Sloopdoop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To be fair, the Emperor is a bit of a unique case, being dual class. But I do understand what you mean. Needing Legendaries doesn't make Blitz a cheap format, and if someone is going to buy in, why wouldn't they just spend a bit more for CC?

  • @stigmurder99
    @stigmurder99 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

  • @adderall3676
    @adderall3676 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The best new player format is easily commoner. Its the most affordable format by a long shot with the average deck costing 3-7 dollars, and the lower power level makes games with the lower life total feel more balanced and nuaced, similar to CC/what blitz used to be. I personally have 8 commoner decks that I play with often. Its also a great progression for teaching new players, starting with the ira welcome deck and jumping to commoner is manageable in my experience.

    • @Sloopdoop
      @Sloopdoop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I like that Commoner is a super cheap format, but personally I would rather play a format with commons and rares, rather than just commons

  • @jiffyb333
    @jiffyb333 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Definitely think you're right on this one. I think now that they are transitioning to having three draftable sets a year they can really move limited into the slot that blitz was filling. What's personally pretty sad to see the new blitz decks bundled together like that but if they are going to be providing better on ramp products it makes sense for limiting how many products a store has to move.

  • @adriano.izzi_rean
    @adriano.izzi_rean 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I really love blitz since there are unique heroes, the games are faster and require different deckbuilding than CC.
    So, I would love to see a little more "important" blitz events here and there, not only a skirmish at the end of the year or maybe (if they put it) one side event at the nationals.
    Yet, I think that if blitz should feel like a cheaper and more new player friendly format then it should be something similar to clash.

    • @Sloopdoop
      @Sloopdoop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think Blitz would be fine at an intermediate format, but it just needs a bigger banlist since cards are designed for CC

  • @whiskeygamesnerdstuff789
    @whiskeygamesnerdstuff789 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I have seen more new players starting with Commoner CC than Blitz, as a lot of veterans players are happy to give someone a Commoner CC to play and take if they like the game.

      Even CC with just commons and rares would be awesome

  • @6seph9
    @6seph9 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I was thinking about blitz and maybe clash as a entry format. If blitz had a restriction of 1 ou 2 legendaries per deck that would make the format soo much better for newer players.

    So me and a mate are on the hunt for a TCG.
    We are huge miniature wargamers (not anything GW).
    So have given Final Fantasy, Digimon and Dragon Ball Super a try. All fine games but not the ones we felt fitted the bill.
    FaB is the last game we are trying and looks the most promising.
    I have picked up the Mistveil blitz collection and I think one of us will pick up the Rosetta blitz collection.
    So Blitz (coming from a completely new player stand point) represents a slimmed down game. It's smaller and faster paced with slightly less decision making when it comes to new player deck stuff.
    If the game sticks and because there are 2 "main" formats that are adjacent to one another, there is a place for us to take the game regarding building up a collection.
    See games like MtG and YGO feel very
    ... Pigeonholed. If I don't play a certain way and run the deck very efficiently, I am handicapping myself.
    FaB appears to be a game that I can build upon.
    I don't need to go from 'starter deck' to £300+ decks.
    Heres hoping FaB is the one 🤞
    Your videos have been incredibly helpful in feeling out the game.

    I've been having the same questions, I think it comes down to does LSS see Blitz as a competitive format or a casual format.

  • @travis_approved
    @travis_approved 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    As a very extremely casual player, I love blitz but never get to play it. My relationship with the game is essentially just collecting blitz decks every time they come and keeping them mostly stock in a box. I like the idea of them making long boxes with sets of decks cuz the storage is just perfect for the precons. My friends just like mtg more, so I’ve never gotten a tuned list cuz I’ve had no reason to.

    @roguenoob 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    One of the big difference between Blitz and CC for affordability is that while CC does need 3 of the good M, the impact of the equipment and L is much more pronounced in Blitz so the barrier to have a decent deck end up higher than CC most of the time.

  • @Welank
    @Welank 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    We still run blitz in our rotation, but it is mostly because it is easier for the shop to run. The players want CC. 20 life with high powered cards means any big play or minor mistakes often determines the game, whereas with CC, you can make a come back.

    I don't agree with the new way lss is handling the sale of blitz and a few other things surrounding the format. A higher price point, means you cant just buy one deck and the hero you want, it's a very scummy move towards newer players like myself that enjoy the blitz format.
    Leaving blitz out of worlds is like twisting the knife.
    I think I'm done with fab for the time being, might come back to check out pve when that drops if that looks decent. Back to edh.

      It's just not what you want, but it's in no way scummy. You're paying a bit more and get a good deck for the arguably more relevant main format of the game. Blitz precons haven't phased out they're more fun than ever I can tell you after having played a dedicated Blitz event in the HVY season.

    Blitz is a degenerate format, 1 high roll usually decides the game.
    I've had a few T0 setup on Vynnset to then present 27+ damage on turn 1, and in turn, I've been violated in the same respect with a T0 arsenal pulzerise followed up next turn with a pummel >.>

    FAB playerbase is intellectually limping while pretending they can only stomach high IQ CC gameplay.
    Blitz getting less exposition isn't bad but that it gets less rotation in many places is actually for the worst because it tells you that the playerbase settles in and doesn't grow as easily. Blitz is approachable and we have many players favoring it no matter if sometimes people bring better decks, those are also the ones that lend you important pieces. Starting on CC isn't the way for many folks and Blitz getting the "not a real format" rep for years now is why I think the playerbase consists of as many brainlets as other TCGs do.

    Blitz is terrible for new players when facing try hards. Most games in 1-3 turns and it doesn’t leave a new player feeling good about the loss.
    CC even if facing an experienced player, the games take longer, mechanics matter, and the new player can at least normally feel like that we’re able to do something.
    Blitz was created well after the game came out and only because it was needed during the pandemic. The game isn’t balanced for it. Things hit for 200% of their intended value while blocking its normal value. Completely breaking countless cards.

    blitz is an inherently broken, highrolly format... it doesn't matter how good you've been playing the game, it just takes 1 insanely lucky draw for the whole tempo of the game being taken irreversibly by the player, the cards, specially the majestic+ cards, weren't made with a 20 life format in mind, so the already powerful cards become way too powerful and decisive, you don't have time to think or set up an strategy, you just keep chipping damage until you draw your broken hand, hope the other player didn't draw their broken hand so you can take all the damage and mow down the player with your broken hand... the format needs a huge overhaul for it to be remotely fun, like a huge banlist or structural changes in the deckbuilding rules

    • @Sloopdoop
      @Sloopdoop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm of the opinion that Blitz needs to have a fair sized banlist. The game is designed around limited and CC, and so Blitz having more bans just makes sense
