    Received this message at 66k miles. This process and a new gasket fixed the problem. I also recommend a forced regen be accomplished after the cleaning. Great video

    • @sharee-1111
      @sharee-1111  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      A forced regen isn't necessary, the issue is in the after treatment, the regen happens in the dpf prior to reaching the nozzle. I would let the truck do it's own thing once the issue is corrected.

    Injector has a gasket on it. Be sure to have one available. Keep one in the glove box.
    If dev usage goes up clean the crystals off with warm water. Buildup messes with the injector spray pattern making it less efficient.

    • @sharee-1111
      @sharee-1111  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Sir, the injector gaskets come pre-installed. This video isn't soliciting help, it's actually showing how to solve the issue. 😇

      @@sharee-1111 Helpful suggestions are meant to be exactly that. Look at any other vehicle repair video of this type and you will see guys doing the same there. No need to be so defensive.
      BTW, not everyone is going to want to replace an injector that can be so easily cleaned with warm water. And if you don't buy a new injector, then you will still need to replace the gasket. This guy was just pointing out that it is a good idea to be prepared for this possibility by having the gasket handy.

    I just got the “Service DEF See Dealer” message yesterday 11/29/24 coming back home for thanksgiving. It was about 8 hours drive, about 4-5 hours in the message popped up & said I had 125 mile range before the limp mode would trigger & then I would not be able to drive over 5 mph. I ended up stopping in Atl & getting a room with 68 miles left before the limp mode was to trigger. Before I got to my hotel after stopping by Walmart to pick up some things, when I started my truck back up the message was gone, there was no more warnings & the next day I finished off the rest of the 150 miles or so to Alabama to get home. The message never popped up again, should I go get it serviced ? and also o have notice my DEF tank is really depleting at a very slow rate compared to fuel which is not how it was when I first purchased the truck however, when I hook up my gooseneck & haul the DEF & fuels burns around the same rate. That’s a lot any advice would be helpful thanks

    • @sharee-1111
      @sharee-1111  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The DEF shouldn't burn as fast as the fuel... it may have just needed a regen. Do you drive with your exhaust brake on? How many miles on the truck? How often does it go into regen?

    • @BruhManFifFlo
      @BruhManFifFlo 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ around 206k in motor, I turn on the exhaust brake every time I drive it. Not often , it regenerated this morning I believe it sounded like it was*idk if there is a message that alerts you to it or not . The last time actually think it did a regeneration other then this morning would’ve been a few months back

    • @sharee-1111
      @sharee-1111  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      What year is your truck? There's a message that pops up on the cluster the newer trucks like 2022 I've noticed that they made the notification silent, you have to have the def tank selected and it'll show how full it is and when it goes into regen. The dpf filter may be getting full. You can take it off and pressure wash it, I have a video on here showing how I did it. If you've never cleaned the dpf, I would take it off and pressure wash it out. From the clean side is where you want to shoot the high power water so the soot goes back out the other end.

    • @BruhManFifFlo

      @@sharee-1111 it’s a 2017, should i do anything before I take it back out on a long drive out of state ? Gotta job coming up next week in Florida 4hrs wondering if I should risk it or not. It puzzles me that the Service DEF message went away on its own, I’m bout to go check & see if i can find it in the message board now

    • @sharee-1111
      @sharee-1111  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @BruhManFifFlo I have a 2016 with over 500k miles.... you can take the dpf off and pressure wash it out in the morning that way you'll know it's clear. It's really simple and you can put two new gaskets on the dpf, O'Reilly and advance sells them, but keep the old ones to take up there with you to match up the same size because sometimes the square one's come in sizes that are a bit off. They also sell the gasket maker paper in case you want to cut your own. Also, before you pull anything off put a computer on it to see if there are any codes. Idling the truck is what causes the dpf to get full faster. I've been pressure washing my filter out for over 500k miles, it's better than going to the dealer. The def pump and def injector can also cause that message to pop up, but if you've never cleaned the filter I would start there because the maintenance interval is 100k miles so yours sounds like it's doing well and just giving a warning that it's clogging up. After so many regens the ash builds up in the filter.

    How did you get the broken bolts out?

    • @sharee-1111
      @sharee-1111  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      A left handed drill bit. Those bolts are small so if the hole gets damaged, you can also use a drill bit to make the hole bigger or change out those bolts and use longer ones with a nut on the back to hold the filter in place. I had my brother's weld me two studs to my dpf filter, so whenever I replace the def injector I have to make one of the holes a little bigger. The manufacturer should've never put those small bolts in a place that gets so much heat.

    • @sharee-1111

      It's right at the top of your catalytic converter where it bolts to the dpf filter. Once you get under there and take a look around you'll see it.

    What i have to do to make that light go off?

    • @sharee-1111
      @sharee-1111  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If those were the issues it should reset itself after a few cycles, but putting a computer on it will show stored/pending codes and that way you can clear the stored codes and run a new scan.

    • @selvinbatres
      @selvinbatres 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My problem is the scanner doesnt read the codes is giving me codes for other problem bit not the DEF one
      And i have deleted it twice with the scanne and it just wont clear
      Thats why i was asking you about it

    • @sharee-1111
      @sharee-1111  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You may have to use a higher tech scanner, or lookup the codes that it's still showing to see if they relate to the same issue or something else. Some scanners must be bi-directional in order to clear/troubleshoot certain issues.

    • @selvinbatres
      @selvinbatres 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My issue was both NOx sensors i had to replace both of them too along with the DEF injector and DEF pump and then i did cleared the check engine light and it was done i hope this helps anybody who runs into a issue like that on the dealer would have cost me more than $3500 to repair it and i just spent $690
