- Easy Step-by-step Def Fix, removing, cleaning and reinstalling Def injector. My engine light turned on (my injector was really dirty) once I cleaned injector light turned off.

This video just saved me thousands. I used a wrench to get the bolts off. ( easier than the socket) and boiled my water to break up the white def crystals. Cleaned the injector and the injector hole with a toothbrush and the problem went away. Appreciate you posting this!

I'm getting ready to pull our 5th wheel with our 2016 3500, 6.7 with the Aisin transmission from northern Idaho to Maine and back. I haven't gotten the check engine light or code for this but I'm going to pull and clean the injector before we leave. I think it's good preventive maintenance. Great video.

A def hack you can bypass the computer on the transmission there's a sensor or solenoid run a ground wire and find a fused power wire you will need to add a resistor to the power wire I also have used a resistor on the low oil cutoffs just unplug the low oil cutoff and put a resistor in the plug

When clean the port hole where injector goes in use a pick with a 45 bend on it and scrap inside to clean hole and area in side due to build up also. Then take a shop vac and tape a small hose on it To fit inside hole and vacuum any def debris from inside and good to go.

Based on the market lately, would you recommend someone starting up right now? I'm out of NorCal too, but willing to travel more than you guys (basically everything Texas to Cali). I'm also young and willing to sleep in a crew cab like your set up. My goal is a Ram 5500 with hopefully a 5 car trailer. Any suggestion?
That’s a good setup. Hauling cars goes up and down. It’s currently slow, last year it picked up in February. I recommend you get insurance quotes (it’s very expensive the first year). Also look into truck and trailer costs, would you finance those? I sold my two cars and boat to buy my Dodge 5500 and Ez4 trailer both used for cash.
I got the message " def Maintenance see dealer " on my 2022 ram 5500 with 147k . But didn't stay up on dash. I did clean the Injector but I didn't put any air on the dpf. Next time I'll do it for sure.

Did you have to clear the codes? I just cleaned mine but haven't driven or clear the codes yet. I did turn the truck on after cleaning the injector and saw the light still on. Thinking I will have to clear the codes and drive it for a bit? Thanks!
Drive it for a a day or two if it doesn’t clear by itself clear the code.

So, did you have a message come on on the dash saying Def quality poor? If so, did this fix the problem?

I see the gasket looks like it was all chipped out, did you replace it?
No I haven’t, this injector us about 1.5 years old. Originally I didn’t know they could be cleaned so I replaced it.
I'm wondering the same! I have mine and I think is chipped too compared to a new one
Was a code coming up with your check engine light I think the code was p20E8
Mine didn't have a code just Service Deff see Dealer.
Giving this a try first before getting everything "deleted"... but still under warranty... second time this happened in less then 4months...not a good thing to see while on road trip
I haven’t had this problem since changing to blue deff from Costco and I no longer use Bio Diesel. Before I had to clean it every three weeks, its been a few months and no issues.
When this happen did you also lose some power?
No but I cleaned it right away.
so what about when you do this and the message is still on, add adblue?
Most of the time it cleared but I have had to clear the message.

The first time it did. Now I don’t disconnect completely from truck, it’s very quick.

Yes the check engine light did turn on, I cleaned it right away. My truck never lost power.

Try the blue Def i buy it Costco, don’t use the cheap def.
