So you think Vader didn't return to Tatooine because he doesn't like sand?
Not because he grew up as a slave there, and escaped to become a jedi at the expense of abandoning his mother, and then the one time he returned his mother was tortured and died in front of him which led to him committing genocide and admitted it to his love; and then also turned his back on the jedi.
It's literally a reminder of everything bad that has happened to him, and an inescapable reminder of how he lost his way.
@@1992jamo I've always believed that's what the "I don't like sand" line is meant to imply as well. Him saying he doesn't like sand isn't just him saying he dislikes sand, it's him saying he dislikes it 'cause of how he grew up on Tattooine and everything that happened.

It's rather interesting if you consider that Vader differentiated himself from Anakin. He told Ashoka, "Skywalker was weak, so I killed him" or something to that effect (Kylo Ren does the same) so I believe that Ani certainly did view himself wholly as Darth Vader... but, he learns that Skywalker had a son and he all of a sudden starts referring to him as "my son." "I have a son." He owns that fact, not as Vader, but as Anakin Skywalker. The Jedi within him was not dead after all.

The discovery of his children was the turning point for him. He had not destroyed his entire family like he had been led to believe.
@Merchants Tomb the reason for this is Vader associated Anakin as a failure and with the current episodes of Obi Wan, this kind of explains the whole situation.

@Merchants Tomb those other two retained their "dead names" because it afforded them a disguise. They were pretending to hold office and hide their real personas. But once those previous names were no longer necessary, palpetine is referred to only as Emperor, and Vader never needs his old name.
Obi-Wan should have haunted Vader. Walk backwards in front of him to maintain eye contact at all times. Then every time he tries to rest break into "The Name Game" with the names of the Jedi he killed... even the younglings.

Well yes, but the sith embrace "dark" feelings and most of them don't care about the rest.
You'll rarely see a sith genuinely feel most human emotions.
@@Vchk1917 this is exactly why Vader wasn't a true Sith. actually he did everything by love, but on an absolute scale.
Let's do a few reminders.
First, Jedi don't suppress their emotions. On the contrary, they are encouraged to be compassionnate about every sentient in the Galaxy. However, Jedi are taught to CONTROL their emotions, to *rule* them to not be controled by what they feel. Which is *very* different than “supressing emotions”.
Second, to be clear about the “attachement” thing, they differentiate “attachment” from “love”. Attachment is the obsessive, unhealthy, possessive kind of love ; ultimatly, a love that drove everyone you care away from you *because* you don't see them as free being, but as “objects” that are “yours”.
Love, on the other hand, is caring about in a healthy, empathic and selfless kind of emotion ; in which *because* you *love* people, you learn to let them go. They don't belong to you, and if they are happy away from you, then it's okay with you *because* you love them no matter if they love you back or not. That ability to *let go* is what differenciate love (healthy thing) from attachment (unhealthy thing).
Third, I don't really think that Anakin's point of vues of the Jedi culture and community is really reliable : we talk about a man who was slowly manipulated by a Sith during nearly all his “Jedi-ship”. And that though clever to trust said man (Palpatine) over actuals Masters or Knight of the Order. Because if their is *one thing* the Jedi are knows for, it's their compassion, their kindness. They *are* “the most moral people” of the SW Universe, after all (according to Georges Lucas, the creator himself, at least).

Emotions are what make a Sith. Their unbridled emotions are what give them power. The ability to move through your emotions like that makes powerful sith lords

Kenobi did not fail, when he left Luke largely untrained.
He knew a trained Jedi would not act on the belief a Sith lord could be redeemed, and a Sith lord would not be as likely to try and turn a trained Jedi.
He knew they had to interact, and connect as father and son, so he had to leave Luke stumbling and naïve to draw them together.
If that is really the case, then obi wan's wisdom transcends all jedi masters
@@Blackridge. It was almost surprisingly objective. He gambled that Anakin's impulsive stubbornness would remain, as it was instrumental in his fall to the dark side as well. He knew that Ani's perspective that the Jedi Council had betrayed him would, no doubt, be duplicated once Palpatine felt sure of his control. Anakin's craving for a positive relationship would give Luke the opening he needed to redeem his father.
Perhaps the best thing about this is Kenobi understanding he couldn't be the one to turn Anakin back. Him dying by Vader's saber, in front of Luke, set both sides of the plan in motion. I also appreciate that this unites Obi-Wan's strategy with his profound connection to the force by New Hope.
@@Blackridge. Most likely he got that wisdom from Qui Gon during his trainig with him in Tatoine, and Yoda (who could also commne with Qui Gon and maybe Obi was) was not so convinced. he was always Mr. Skeptical.
Was gonna say he learned that from Qui Gon and applied it to Luke’s “training”. Besides he’s also a Skywalker so he should figure some stuff naturally anyways.

It would be interesting if they did have a dialogue where Obi-Wan appeared before Vader but this isn't what that is. And I understand the reasons they say that they could have build a thought bomb. But Obi-Wan could have got Vader by himself and Vader didn't have super knowledge of the dark side and how to make a thought bomb. Well that's just my opinion

Me too!! I love how the channel gets into the major themes nor does it forget about the nooks and crannies in important details, as well. In fact, like in life, details are important as they make all the difference in how they cause the twists and turns to great and greater outcomes! No Sci-fi stories, in all their major mediums, have such a rich history in terms of their past and/or futures. This could not be more full of truth once one sees Star Wars: The Complete Canon Timeline (2020)! What other Sci-fi or other genre's saga has a richer history, I ask!?!!

It’s that part, all those years ago, is typically used to describe what happened long ago, whereas Luke looked at the sunset for the last time(as far as the movies show us) a few days before the battle of yavin

Boba fett and Luke Skywalker Icebreaker went like. Lazer pistol melted in half, jetpack malfunction, armor failed to do anything against the side of a rusty pontoon boat. Then into a belly of a beast. (Whining and complaining the whole way ) Never to be heard from again.
