- In today's mario video we are going to look at the origin, secrets, timeline, story, lore, mysteries and history of the goombas seen in the #supermario games made by nintendo. Throughout the years there have been a lot mario games like super mario world, super mario 64, super mario sunshine, new super mario bros, new super mario galaxy, super mario 3d land, super mario 3d world, super mario run, super mario bros 3 and not too long ago they released the new super Mario odyssey for the nintendo switch which has all kinds of new characters like cappy and locations like the sand kingdom, new donk city and bowsers kingdom. In these games we have seen power ups like the fire flower, ice flower, super mushroom, mega mushroom, super star, hammer suit, spring mushroom and way more. But there were power ups that helped mario, luigi, toad, princess peach, rosalina and the others to escape bowser, the broodals, koopalings and bowser jr. If I remember correctly Bowers Bowers transforms the citizens of the mushroom kingdom into bricks. Please look up the game theory version of this video. Unfortunately it makes Mario look evil: and Bowers he hero

Also, Bowser turned them into BRICKS! Not BRICK BLOCKS! Mario was breaking the blocks apart into the individual bricks that the Toads turned into. None of them were killed!

In the smb3 official guide the goomba's dicription reads "Members of a rogue Mushroom Kingdom tribe have agreed to join Bowser's army. Traitors deserve no mercy!" Wich kind of disproves the mind control theory.
I think it's more plausible and more interesting if the goombas joined Bowser's forces as disenfranchised citizens of the mushroom kingdom. Perhaps over time more and more of them fell down the socioeconomic ladder, leaving many destitute and/or envious of their betters in the toads, who seem to largely occupy positions in the upper-middle class and higher. The goombas then rally under a leader who begs Bowser to assist them and grant him a position as a vassal in his court. Bowser accepts and uses this as an excuse to invade the Mushroom kingdom under the pretense of liberating the oppressed goombas.
Is this way too deep for Mario lore? Yeah. Am I over-analyzing things? Probably. But it's interesting and would add some depth to the story and characters. Bowser is less evil and while his methods are questionable, the end result he wants to achieve seems to be justifiable. Mario and those on his side are more gray (as if a mass murder wasn't dark enough), being potential perpetrators here. Then the goombas are more sympathetic. They're not just evil goons doing a dark lord's bidding, they're fighting for their freedoms, livelihoods and futures.
An even darker theory would be that they weren’t even hyptonised. They just joined bowser out of fear because of what he did to the toads, and they stay with him for the rest of the series begrudgingly. And overtime, they forgot their values and did what bowser ordered them to do.
Poor goombas, they are used for mushroom stew everyday.

I’ve always got the impression that Toads looked down on Goombas as they’re less useful for labour due to not having arms and so after centuries of being downtrodden they went ahead and joined up with an invaded force. It wasn’t just that they felt betrayed you as those who didn’t join were turned into bricks along with the toads

Alternative suggestion: Peach, who herself is a Toad (see: Peachette), upon taking over the Mushroom Kingdom, wanted to make it an ethnostate and systemically killed or evicted all the Goombas.
You know with the mushroom that makes Peachette that doesnt mean that Peach is a toad, maybe through some crazy ass mumbo jumbo the toads were able to create a power up that could bestow like Peaches abilities to a Toadette. Also its kind of weird that it only works on a toadette like it dont work with any toad and I'm pretty sure that Nintendo said that toads dont have genders (granted that could be a way to explain away why the average toad looks like a toad and the toadettes seem like a special type? i guess?)
No. The goombas are traitrors that betrayed the mushroom kingdom way before peach came to the throne (mario and luigi partner in time proves it) they were not hypnotized or bad treathed,they are simple traitrors that care only about themself.

I thought you were going in the classic "the good are the bad" direction and would suggest a Civil War between the Toads and the Goombas in the old Mushroom Kingdom Days and as the Goomba's Side were losing they made "a deal with the devil" and joined up with Bowser to regain their status.
This story is super-popular and I don't know why.

That story is wrong,just take a look at Goombario and the goomba village,the goombas were never bad treated by the toads,they simply lived in peace with them but then betrayed them when they saw the koopa troop was stronger.

I missed the mario theory's
My theory is that the entire Mushroom World was created through a terraforming effort from the Shroobs long ago - which is why its inhabitants just happen to have Shroob starship fuel in their bodies. The Toads are humans who have been modified by Shroob parasites, and the Goombas are simply a population of Shrooblets from the original invasion that were left behind and went native.
I saved a goomba from good will and it was huge and i am giving them a lot of love and snuggles

The death battle Goomba vs. Koopa troopa explained that the goomba were mocked by the toads for being a few crayons short of a rainbow for a extremely long time and the Goomba fed up with the ridicule and racism turned their backs on the mushroom kingdom and joined up with bowser for revenge at their many years of abuse, pain and suffering.
As a child in the early 90’s i assumed Goombas were just “evil mushrooms” but as I grew up I started to believe they were Chestnuts.
Now I learn they actually WERE mushrooms all along 😒
Their Japanese name means "chestnut kid". It isn't clear why they are named this though, since they are mushrooms.
The Galoomba is more chestnut-like though.

In one game, it’s shown that all Mario enemies likely have a choice, as if you free an enemy that was trapped they will join your side. This could just be the spell being broken though.

@@drwily I don’t remember the name, but it was a 3Ds game, and it was one of those matching games where you get 3 in a row and then your characters can attack. The game itself probably isn’t cannon, but the characters might still have the same rules as in that game.

My thought is, most of the Goombas that we fight in the Mario games are mind-controlled. However, just like how people have varying degrees of mental strength, the same applies to Goombas. While most fell for the mind control spell Bowser used, some are mentally strong enough to look Bowser in the eye, tell him to get screwed, and do their own thing after. Of course, we also still see even with that, that some Goombas willingly follow Bowser of their own free will, like the Goomba King.

Goomba is translated in (close friend) "from google" My theory is others people or idk browser turn them into moshroom and other and turned into them a trap so browser add pipe and put the monster inside on it and other failed so they throw it in the box and browser without knowing he accidentally turn it into a box into a luckyblock and what happened to the failed is turned into power-ups

I think that bowser threatened them to join him, or maybe they offered to join him in exchange for not being turned into brick and what not. as for the toads, they probably wouldn't join bowser, not even to preserve their own lives. or bowser just didn't want to go deaf listening to "BAABA" or " IM THE BEST".

Goombas are not in every single Mario game there's not even hints of any goombas in Super Mario Sunshine. Sure there are those little red nosed creatures that act similar to goombas but they're not exactly goombas. I mean, I guess, they can be considered "the goombas of Super Mario Sunshine," but they're NOT ACTUALLY GOOMBAS! Point made, moving on.
